Not sure if this is too early, but I'm keen to give it a crack! Couple of things;

* Assume all listed players are fit. At this stage, we don't know if anyone wont be available for selection by round 1, so let's assume they are all ready to go.

* I am including Joel MacDonald, assuming he will be taken in the PSD.

* I didn't include rookies as I'm not 100% sure on the rules of picking them (ie do we need players on the long term injury list before they can play?).

* Had to put Jack Watts in the "new" group as I couldn't fit him in the "young bulls" group.

Good luck! Thank god I'm not a selector!!!

not sure aboutt blease however after missing so much footy. Might push Green into the middle, Petterd into a pocket and someone else - possibly MacDonald if we get him onto the bench.

I would have thought that Blease was even further behind Watts, with only just finishing school, having a broken leg and playing very little (if any) football at Casey.

Players 14 from 14: Morton, Trengove, Scully, Jurrah, Jones, Grimes, Davey, Moloney, Sylvia, Jamar

If McDonald is not captain he would not be in my best 22 as he will take a spot of a developing midfielder, but I think in all likelihood he will be.

I think this list includes 11 old bulls, 8 young bulls and 3 newies. That sounds like a good balance. There's a great article in 'The Age' today on Paul Roos. He says he won't play pick 6 Gary Rohan in 2010 because the gap between TAC and AFL is too big. He says the youngsters get shattered when they find out what it takes to be an AFL player.

That's why my only difference would be Wonna instead of Scully for round 1. We've got 8 guys on our list who have never played a game of AFL. DB made a big point about giving the kids time to develop so I think they will gradually introduce these new kids over the year. The exceptions will be Gawn and Fitzpatrick who wont be expected to play senior football till at least 2011.

Geese I love the look of that team!

The only change I would make would be to swap Blease with Aussie and chuck Tapscott as first emergency!

The thing I hate about making team sheets is all of the players that miss out: Maric, Jetta, Cheney, Dunn, Strauss etc

Rivers, Jetta, Bennell, Cheney and McNamara were unlucky not be selected.

I think Miller, PJ, Bell, Bartram and Dunn from the senior list and Meesen, Newton, Spencer and Hughes off the rookie list are all playing for their careers this year. Bail and Healey are probably outside chances to be delisted at years end but only if a few of these guys step up. I think we'll probably only see 3-5 delistings per year for the next 2 years.

And just to get you salivating I did a team of players under 22 at Rd 1 next year. Don't think any other teams could match it. Doubt many other teams would be able to make a full team of U/22's let alone complete with emergencies.

By my reckoning, 22 players have over 30 votes. (Bench determined by vote numbers)

No trengove. Sack already?

If your going to put Watts in the "new group", then you should also include Blease, Strauss, Bennell, Jetta, Bail and McNamara.........Mckenizie?

Jurrah aswell......

There are a number of players already who are a bit "iffy" to be considered for Round 1. I consider those players to be amongst: Garland, Blease, Strauss, Wonna( due to injuries) Scully, Trengove. Gysbers( due to being raw recruits)

Of the newies I believe Tapscott may be the "bolter" due to his advanced physical development. My team therefore

I have concerns with Watts and Jurrah in key forward positions. Their bodies just aren't big or strong enough for this role at the moment. They'd get smashed, and Watts has indicated he wont fill this role for a while. I see Miller as a prefered option in the short term.

Another option here is Martin. I'd like to see the club give him one role, rather than moving him everywhere like last season.

That forward line is way too small/under-developed IMO. Watts can't hold down CHF atm. I assume you've decided Garland won't be fit.

That forward line is way too small/under-developed IMO. Watts can't hold down CHF atm. I assume you've decided Garland won't be fit.

Neither can Brad Miller, for different reasons. Sylvia, Bate and Green in particular have to fill the void at CHF between them whilst we wait for Watts to get stronger and Jurrah to get fitter and cover more ground. Petterd is also handy in that area. Trengove has strong hands and a good tank, the half forward line should be a nice place for him to start, in a similar role to Nev Jetta this year (who will also be pushing for a role around half forward or midfield).

I doubt we will have a St Kilda set up where Riewoldt does 80% of the work around half forward. I think we will be more like the bulldogs where they rotate 6 or more through CHF with Murphy and Johnson taking most of the work. Even Geelong deliver to Chapman out infront with precise foot skills as much as Mooney.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.

  • AFLW REPORT: Collingwood

Expectations of a comfortable win for Narrm at Victoria Park quickly evaporated as the match turned into a tense nail-biter. After a confident start by the Demons, the Pies piled on pressure and forced red and blue supporters to hold their collective breath until after the final siren. In a frenetic, physical contest, it was Captain Kate’s clutch last quarter goal and a missed shot from Collingwood’s Grace Campbell after the siren which sealed a thrilling 4-point win. Finally, Narrm supporters could breathe easy.

  • CASEY: Williamstown

The Casey Demons issued a strong statement to the remaining teams in the VFL race with a thumping 76-point victory in their Elimination Final against Williamstown. This was the sixth consecutive win for the Demons, who stormed into the finals from a long way back with scalps including two of the teams still in flag contention. Senior Coach Taylor Whitford would have been delighted with the manner in which his team opened its finals campaign with high impact after securing the lead early in the game when Jai Culley delivered a precise pass to a lead from Noah Yze, who scored his first of seven straight goals for the day. Yze kicked his second on the quarter time siren, by which time the Demons were already in control. The youngster repeated the dose in the second term as the Seagulls were reduced to mere

Narrm time isn’t a standard concept—it’s the time within the traditional lands of Narrm, the Woiwurrung name for Melbourne. Indigenous Round runs for rounds 3 and 4 and is a powerful platform to recognise the contributions of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander peoples in sport, community, and Australian culture. This week, suburban footy returns to the infamous Victoria Park as the mighty Narrm take on the Collingwood Magpies at 1:05pm Narrm time, Sunday 31 August. Come along if you can.
