Whoops

It never ceases to amaze me how poorly researched some of these articles are.

I like the idea of Luke Ball = 31!

that simply couldnt be more wrong

It is time for Neita's number to be passed on to someone, we cannot have it 'retired' forever - giving it to anyone is a risk, but I think any of our top 3 picks this year, or even Blease would be ready to wear it. Although, I would prefer it if the person wearing it was actually playing and not running around for Casey.

Interesting that the article says that Sam Blease might get his hands on a new number. How? If I was Jetta or Bennell I would be thinking I'm pretty stiff. Blease has a pretty BIG question mark hanging over his head with his bad injury where as Jetta and Bennell have played 15+ games already. Strauss could also put claims to a new jumper number coming back in great shape for pre season and beating Jones around the running track which is no mean feet in itself. Blease isnt even running yet is he?

Should the new players be given it, or made to earn it?

Just thinking when Geelong gave Varcoe the famous number 5. As an opposition supporter, and knowing a lot of Geelong supporters, it made him standout a lot more than probably deserved. I know many times in his career I made the comment about him not deserving to wear number 5.

Surely in the tradition of red heads Blease should get number 1 after Strawbs O'dwyer

LOL.

We do have a tradition of celebrating the "ranga"! In 2009, we had 6 "brothers" listed as well.

Any truth in the rumor that BP gets a financial bonus if we draft a red-haired brother??!!!!

I would like to see Scully get number 31 and Trengove get number 9.

It's bloody hard - there are a few numbers running around with blokes wearing them that probably don't do it as proud as they could. Jimmy's number 11 for example, currently worn by PJ, even to some point, the number 2? I love Jonesy, but if we are talking about giving (potential) stars the same number as stars before their time, I think that needs to be brought up.

I think David Cockatoo-Collins wore 31 didn't he?

I'm of the opinion that we make them earn it first, then let the past player decide (eg get Neitz, Barassi, etc to do an official handover when the time is right).

sorry if this is a bit naive, but who previously had the number 31?

previous to when ? now ?? Wheats

just worked out it was Barassi...funny that, my names sake. No not Wheats, I was trying to work out the more famous player, and why Scully would get it.

Dont know about the maric to 5 yet i was just thinking he might want an upgrade because 19 isnt the most popular number.

i like these numbers and i hope im right. ;)

I think I just worked out why Demonology is such a better forum, with actual knowledgeable Demons fans.

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
