"Melbourne is also awaiting league confirmation on a range of other fixture requests, some of which are left-field.

Schwab said the club had been creative in its proposal, but declined to go into detail.

"We were pro-active in regards to our submission, but we have also been pragmatic knowing it is geared towards television and maximising attendance," he said.

"We need to improve the quality of our entertainment and we're confident that will happen. We think we're going to end up with a very watchable team over the next few years."

I wonder what the club are trying, I assume its to get more TV exposure to promote the club. After the fixture is out it would be nice to know what was really asked for.

What sort of left field ideals do you think they had?

I would be expecting requests to to Thrusday Night and Monday night football.

It is good reasoning, cos if this happens it will be shown to Free To Air instead of our games being pushed onto Foxtel/ PayTV.

This means higher ratings and more publicity. Don't get me wrong, I think the Fox Sports coverage isn't bad, but its crap that we play so many games that are shown through them.

Thursday and Monday nights might be a good way to get us on the TV, but we'll still be left with poor attendances.

For working people, weeknights are difficult, and same goes for families with young children.

If those games are away games, fine, but I'd rather a Saturday home game thanks!

As long as we don't get Dwayne Russell as many times as we did this year! The blokes needs a bullet, but I wouldn't have the energy to pull the trigger!
