Who was at the now infamous Melb v Freo this year?

I didnt attened but wonder was the MCC still full guys? And was it like old school suburban football with such a low crowd? I remember the HS describing it as a graveyard. (This was the twilight game by the way)

From memory it was the 1:10 match.

Most people were under cover and it was a bitterly cold day.

By game time it wasn't so bad, but the couple of hours before were a nightmare. No wonder nobody should up.

Pity, because the game kicked ass.

From memory even the members area looked empty. Most of the 12K people taht were there were under cover.

I bought myself one of the plastic disposable rain coats so I could sit out in the open, coz I think it is important to make it look as full as possible (futile attempt on that day). However by half way through the 1st quarter the sun was out and by half way through the second it was actually quite warm.

Was listening to the radio and Bartlett laid his boots into the crowd, which is fair enough, but he could have mentioned the lousy weather in the morning.

I was there with my two kids. We all come from different directions these days and I was the first one there. It was a cold day, but I had had a look at the weather channel and was hopeful that it would clear up by match time. Our seats are in the open, our choice, and I got wet several times before my daughter showed up and said that she would prefer to go upstairs out of the rain; we adjourned to the standing area, out of the rain to await her brother. By the time my son arrived, the game had just started and the weather had cleared up and we took our customary seats to watch a glimpse of things to come as MFC knew that this was game they could afford to win.

The rain stopped about 3 minutes before the bounce and I don't recall it raining again. I thought the cheer squad was pretty pathetic in staying undercover all day and not coming down to the goals when the sun came out. Now that looked [censored] on TV.

I was there at that game this year, but couldn't make last year's great comeback win.

Like everyone has said, it was a bit wet before the game, but I don't think it rained a drop from start to finish. Always good to see a win and it was of those matches we could afford to win and knew we would anyway, so it made it easier to enjoy.

I was there with my 4 year old son. The weather was dreadful on the way to the G, but cleared up nicely for the game. It also meant the ground was not too packed for a bit of kick to kick after the game. I still can't believe many "experts" tipped Freo to win that game.

The worst game for the year was the Adelaide game. Freezing cold, raining all day but not during the game, 4:40 Sunday start.

Plus we flooded the whole game and got our first goal half way through the 3rd from Lynden Dunn if I remember correctly. Also I think Juice missed a couple of sitters. We were also in with a chance half way through the last until Tippett slotted a couple.

Anyone who went to that game was a true believer! The Freo game on the other hand was great fun. Never have I seen such a stupid thing as a bottom of a ladder team that had no real interest in winning most weeks turn up and completely dismantle a side.

i was at both freo games. 2009 version was freexing before the game, i was soaked.

2008 game i was so depressed i had a whiskey on the rocks at 1/2time in .00005 of a second, what a turnaround.

i missed the adelaide game, i was actually in adelaide at the time, in my dees jumper in a pub in glenelg giving it large and on the sauce. i copped no [censored] on the way out either

You pretty much summed up that Crows game. I was at that one as well, and it was a shocker.

The crowd actually got pretty loud in the last quarter when we looked like we had a chance. Aren't we all glad we lost that game now?

I was there but cant say I remember too much about it.

Is the plan to get all 13,000 people to reply to this thread? :P

i was there with 2 mates and it was pissin down befor the game...but i stayed in the cheersquad the whole day...it was very fun and when jurrah kicked that goal lighing on his ass...:):) it was quality

Me and a mate were at the game, we were in the mcc 3rd level which only has about 200+ seats. It's next to the commentary boxes. Jurrah's goal was f%$#n sweet.

I was there. Rode my bike in.... it decided to p down just as I left the house. I was soaked to the skin but we got up so it was worth it!

Awesome game, and worth the cold I had to deal with for the next week.

The Adelaide game made me momentarily suicidal. Juice missing goals from point-blank made me question my love for the Melbourne Football Club.

Yep, I was at that game and it was probably one of the worst matches I've seen in a very long time.

It was one of the worst games I have ever seen. Third quarter, we haven't kicked a goal; and we are still a chance of a win.

Why sully my memories of the win against the Shockers and remind me of this.

I apologise.

There we go. Back on track.

Went to all MCG home matches this year.

The Adelaide match was possibly THE coldest VFL/AFL I can recall for a long time. And one of the more bizarre: imagine not scoring a goal for a half and the "crowd" roaring the side on as they had a red hot chance to win in the last quarter, depressing - watching a young man shred of all confidence in his paid footballing ability attempt to "banana" a shot on goal 15 m on a >45 degree angle (twice).

Actually I think it was being able to jeer Nathan Bock loudly that kept up the crowd participation, otherwise we'd have been frozen in our seats.

The MCC reserve holds 22,000, so I guess the answer is no.
