"Can't remember this much action on the 1st day of trading. Still a bit to come. Our focus is keeping/improving picks, with an eye to the PSD" - Cameron Schwab on Twitter.

I like our approach, just sitting back quietly trying to lure someone into the PSD.

It would be nice if it was someone decent from Fremantle seeing as they tried to F us in the A luring Davey into the pre-season draft.

One problem would be finding someone decent on Freo's list. But they get screwed annually (not a typo) in the draft/trade period, so something should happen.

What's Chris Mayne's status.

What's Chris Mayne's status.

Soft.

With an awful haircut.

Isnt it nice to know we are now predators and not patsy's !! :)

For all the people out there who were unhappy to win no more than 4 games this year.

This is the Reason.

We go into Trade week with Power & Clout. WE Call the Shots.

How i would love to get Brian Lake in the PSD. Now that would toughen up our Backline straight away.

The longer it is that he does not sign....The more chance we have of it Happening.

Imagine we lose Mclean for Pick 11 & gain Lake in the PSD!!!

Thanks Jordan McMahon....Thanks!!!

I'd suggest he'd much rather go to Melbourne (where he can command his salary) and know what he's joining as opposed to risking being taken in the ND by anyone.

mate no one ones to came to the dees, sb will agree with any thing so he won't came to the dees, there is no value for anyone above the age of 27 to came to the dees, unless we offer them big bucks,by the time the dees are in the top 4 SB will be about 32,and anyway his knee will only stand up for 2 maybe 3 years at most, they player that want's to leave their clubs will ratter sign up with their team then go to the dees, this is the sad fact at the moment,Mclean could see that by about the age of 28 his body will be finished, and his lack of speed, will really show in about 4 years time, that's why he left. carlton are almost at the window.

Rubbish. Carlton without Fevola are very vulnerable & they Know it.

If we recriut well this year we can start climbing straightaway.

Those who keep saying 3-4 years away are far too soft & Conservative.

We have already done 3 years Hard Labour, so the improvement should be a lot quicker than some think.

This Club will soon be able to lure some big names.

Resigning the Alignment with the MCC was the first step to Respectability....Just you wait.

Lol it will be no one noteworthy

if the Blues can do a deal with Fev, ill be putting $500 on them not to make the 8

Guys, read between the lines...

its obvious that they are talking about Shaun Burgoyne...

All the other 'uncontracted' players are set for other moves..Drum,Peake etc etc

There is no way we will get Burgoyne but hopefully mark williams decides to be a problem for the potential deal...

surely he won't let him go for nothing? another nick stevens? its ridiculous..

Maybe Williams will help out his old friend (Bailey), and drop SB in to the PSD. That is of coures, if MFC give Jamar cheaply.

Ha

from what i've heard so far, Lovett hasn't drawn any attention.

if the blues cant do a deal with Fev I would pay $500 to get Greg Swann "balls" removed ... because he has no use for them

Adelaide would not let Dangerfield go into the PSD.

I'd trade pick 18 for him though.

They'll want way more than pick 18, it would have to be 18 + a very good player, they got him at pick 11? from memory.

Well, he did nominate some clubs of choice didn't he?....Hawthorn, Melbourne & Essendon. With Hawthorn his preferred. If a deal cannot satisfy Port from the Hawks, the Dees are right in it.

I would have loved to have been a fly on the wall when the Dees met with Burgoyne's manager the 'day before' he met with the Hawks & Bombers at Docklands a couple of weeks back... :)

Now that apparently the Hawks have "cooled" on SB, we suddenly shoot up to pole position.

Meh, if we are to gain Shaun Burgoyne, it would have to be through the PSD (unless PA realise pick 34 is better than nothing  )

I'd trade pick 18 for him though.

So would I.

I would trade 11 and 18 for him. He is going to be a star. Scully Trengove and Dangerfield in one draft, thats good enough for me.

Lovett asking too much $$. It's no wonder IMO.

Soft.

Stupid hair cut. Yes.

Soft. Not from the games I've seen from him.

His knock i would have would be his field kicking but no worse then Ricky Petterd. He's very smart footballer, leads well, knows where to run and has good hands. Is a very good set shot and works both ways. Very confident he'll be a player.

A lot has been made of Salopek and Boak but i would make a play for Robbie Gray from Port. Get him back to Victoria. This kid can flat out play. Class and poise. Body is a worry and needs a check through.

He's still cheap trade wise compared to the other two and I'm confident his value will sky rocket too.

Jesse Smith? The Australian reports he is out of contract and may be seeking a change.

Has talent, and would be a good player, if, and a big if, our medicos think he can get back on the park

Is that the bloke NM continually rave about as their next big thing?

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
