Jim Stynes Text - Davey signs 4 yr deal

I would look to return the favour. See if they have anyone we would like who could be available and if unsuccessful drive the price up.

Do we really want this, Redleg? If we drove Alwyn's price up last year, and they drove Aaron's up today, I'd rather leave it at that rather than have the Montagues and Capulets obliterating each other's salary caps in the future every time someone comes out of contract.

Exactly. This may have been in response to Melbournes attempts to lure Alwyn last year.

Essendon is probably one club you wouldn't want to get into this sort of battle with.

This is wonderful news on so many levels.

So Aaeon is now on Top Coin-GOOD that means i expect TOP CONSISTENT Football from a club leader.

This will also help all our other indigenous players to stick together & Learn.

Remember you must spend Money to Make Money & Aaron is worth that investment, as long as he holds up his end of the Bargain.

In years passed we would have lost the Flash to a big 4 Club, But we are a new club whose balls are starting to Drop, & we are Going to be a Power Side in future Years.

Mr MOJO RISING......

Happy to have this over and done with......

Thanks to the club for keeping us all informed, and to Aaron for making the obviously correct decision, although we seem to have buckled on the terms (four year deal instead of three) under his apparent demands and his alleged threats of leaving. This is unfortunate and Jaded is right, I just hope we didn't pay too far over the odds to keep him. But this is what it is now.

But to those that were burning their memberships, you may just want to settle down in future and wait for the facts ^_^ !!!

yep...as you say Queen . Am A bit surprised the club agreed to 4 but am sure the club did what was in teh best interest of the club. I say that now but probably wouldnt have been so confident a few years back

Well Aaron that contract is a 2 way street lad.... Im sure you WILL reward the club for its faith... balls in your court.. Do something with it !!

yeah cos they are quite happy to pay over the odds.

or more like Melbourne aren't able to.

Plus, you have so much young talent coming through, it could get dangerous.

Still, we are all just guessing really, I'm sure the [censored] for tat will stop now.

na, they might be tight at m.f.c but they are also right not offer guys like warnock and prismall the kind of money they were being offered elsewhere given thier respective circumstances. the bombers might have been trying to push his price up, but the reality is you also have to be prepared to pay it. they take as many chances off the field as they do on it.

Not really.

They made us pay over the odds for him. They screwed us big time even if they didn't get him in the end. They definitely wouldn't be crying themselves to sleep tonight.

So what did we pay for him? Does anyone know?

All in all its good he has resigned but would be interested to know if anyone can confirm whether his resigning came at high cost as other have said. Have seen no indication of how much $. Although it would be highly unlikely that either MFC or Aaron's Management would disclose these details to General Public at this time.

Did anyone see Cameron Schwab twitter yesterday arvo?

"By the way, Essendon never made an offer to Aaron Davey. Focus was securing Aaron and his family's future beyond his playing career"

Sort of takes the wind out of the rumor that the price tag has been inflated by the bombers if true...

Does it really matter what we have paid him? We had to pay a higher percentage of the salary cap anyway, and were not going to get a superstar. We have secured the most important player to the mfc until the end of his career.

Although I don't completely agree with the term of the contract, I can only see positives in this.

Who ever said that davey held the club to ransom- quite simply, you are a fool.

    THE BLOW by Whispering Jack

Narrm’s finals prospects took a crushing blow after the team’s insipid performance at Optus Stadium against a confident Waaljit Marawar in the first of its Doug Nicholls Round outings for 2024.  I use the description “crushing blow” advisedly because, although the season is not yet at it’s halfway mark, the Demons have now failed abysmally in two of their games against teams currently occupying bottom eight places on the ladder.  The manner in which these losing games were played out w

HALF FULL by KC from Casey

It was a case of the Casey Demons going into a game with a glass half full in their match up against the Brisbane Lions at Casey Fields on Saturday. As the list of injured and unavailable AFL and VFL listed players continues to grow and with Melbourne taking all three emergencies to Perth for the weekend on a “just in case” basis, its little brother was always destined to struggle. Casey was left with only eight AFL listed players from who to select their team but only two - an out-of-form

GAMEDAY: Rd 10 vs West Coast

It's Game Day and the Demons have returned to the site of their drought breaking Premiership to take on the West Coast Eagles in what could very well be a danger game for Narrm at Optus Stadium. A win and a percentage boost will keep the Dees in top four contention whilst a loss will cast doubt on the Dees flag credentials and bring them back to the pack fighting for a spot in the 8 as we fast approach the halfway point of the season.

    WARNING by William from Waalitj

As a long term resident of Waalitj Marawar, I am moved to warn my fellow Narrm fans that a  danger game awaits. The locals are no longer the easybeats who stumbled, fumbled and bumbled their way to the good fortune of gathering the number one draft pick and a generational player in Harley Reid last year. They are definitely better than they were then.   Young Harley has already proven his worth with some stellar performances for a first year kid playing among men. He’s taken hangers, k

OVER YET? by KC from Casey

The Friday evening rush hour clash of two of the VFL’s 2024 minnows, Carlton and the Casey Demons was excruciatingly painful to watch, even if it was for the most part a close encounter. I suppose that since the game had to produce a result (a tie would have done the game some justice), the four points that went to Casey with the win, were fully justified because they went to the best team. In that respect, my opinion is based on the fact that the Blues were a lopsided combination that had
