Martin - little to enthuse

Showed some real athletic ablitity with spins, turns and dodges. It was enough for me to see that he can only get better.

And that tap to LJ was magnificent!

He is very athletic and quick for someone who is about 200cm tall, and his kicking is really improving.

Just think how little time he has spent learning the 3 positions he has found himself playing this year, and you can see how remarkable he is in his ability to adapt.

You're way too harsh on Frawley. He was great today and had the umpires not been playing for the Blues would have had even better numbers. You need to remember that the three goal burst by Fev was while Frawley was on the bench.

Bate was one of our better players for mine. He wasn't a star, but he was pretty solid all day which is more than most can say.

Martin was great. He took the no. 1 ruck role and did a great job both at bounces and around the ground. His disposal is improving too.

You obviously were at a different game mate. Really hard on Bate and others. Open your eyes.

Bate - game to forget - harsh. Very harsh. Thought he presented well and was busy all day.

Cheney - steady but unobtrusive - don't mean to be mean, but I thought he wasn't as good as he has been.

Davey - couldn't break shackles - Actually, he did didn't he? I think he had something like 20 touches after half time.

Frawley - tried but failed - when he was on him, he did quite well didn't he?

Petterd - insignificant until injured - ??? He was hurt within minutes wasn't he?

Valenti - short , little else - Now now...

Love your work Joeboy. Not your best week though.

On reflection ,the only one I may have been a little harsh on was Frawley , but, in my defence , whilst he did keep Fevola to 2 goals in the first half , I suspect that it was more to do with the poor delivery to the Flues' player rather than Frawley's successful 'stopping' .

Bate - was running in circles most of the time IMO and his disposal was poor .

Davey - broke the shackles in the last quarter when the game was already lost and he was given free reign in the back line without a Joseph tag .

Valenti - had little impact as an on baller , and could make no impact with his kicking or handballs .

Cheney - the comments were for today's game , not previous ones .

Fair enough. I'll reword the Cheney.

Frustrated a little. In other words, I reckon he can and has done better... Though again, on reflection, he was up against it on a hard day for defenders.

Jetta - rising star nomination?

Against Garlett? Not a hope. But a bloody good game from the Jet and a good sign of things to come.

"Morton - beaten by midget"

[sigh]

I take it that means you didn't notice Garlett kicked two of his goals on Sylvia, and another on Rivers? (Yes Rivers - caught in a mismatch on rotation.)

Nice exercise, very very poorly executed. Bate was ok, Cheney poor, Martin encouraging and Davey to be applauded for not throwing the towel in, as he would have once.

Spencer is tall though, I'll grant you that ;)

Yeah, I figured he has one game left.

He has some obvious weaknesses but he's starting to look very composed in traffic. He's a bonus as far as I'm concerned. He'll be a very intersting one to watch over the next couple of seasons.

Very harsh here. Bate was pretty good. Played midfield more than forward, when he really should be spending more time at HF.

Thought Frawley was very good on Fev. Most of Fev's good stuff came when McNamara was on him.

What absolute crock of [censored].

If the Blues gave great delivery to Fev, not even Glass, Rutten, Silvagni, Jackovich, Scarlett style combined super Full back could've stop Fev.

A good defender wins 50/50 contests. It's impossible to stop quality forwards when they get quality service.

Frawley beat Fevola in the 50/50 contests.

    CROSSROADS by The Oracle

Melbourne stands at the crossroads.  Sunday’s game against the West Coast Eagles who have not met the Demons at the MCG in more than ten years, is a make or break for the club’s finals aspirations.  That proposition is self-evident since every other team the club will be opposed to over the next eight weeks of footy is a prospective 2024 finalist. To add to this perspective is the fact that while the Demons are now in twelfth position on the AFL table, they are only a game and a half b

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well
