If you're looking for a tall forward option who is going to crash packs and play the enforcer tole - then Jack Fitzpatrick is not an option.

It would be like asking Keplar Bradley to play the Jono Brown role.

Have to agree with that. I have a feeling Fitzy is going to slide a fair way down the order, probably to late 2nd/3rd round, or maybe even further down. I'd draft him late, or with a rookie pick, but no way i'd go for him at pick 18.

Too similar to PJ in that he doesn't seem to impose himself on the contest (to be fair, he is built like a string bean), but also he doesn't seem very comfortable overhead and in conested marking situations. His agility and ground skills, which are very good for his size, only serve to hide the fact that his big man game just isn't up to scratch.

Neitz was 193cm too if i remember correctly.

On Panos, I read somewhere recently that at the end of 2008 he was 190cm or thereabouts, and has since grown to 193cm. He's probaly still growing too, and out on the field in the u18's, against juniors at least, he did look like a big unit. Will be interesting results come draft-camp.

If he's available at our 3rd pick we must take him.

'Doggo', Neita played at 191cms.

Fitzpatrick seems to be lazy in attitude to, only putting in when it suits him.

I stand corrected.

He always seemed so much bigger to me, i'm 187cm, and i always remember thinking he towered over me! Maybe it was just the aura of the man...

It does.

Poor Morabito.

Never had a chance.

Give Trengove number 9, he's going to be a star!

Not sure if this has been posted elsewhere, but some footage of Jack (just skip past the Crows stuff).

I think it is a really good idea about getting Sully and Tregrove. They are both really good player and will be the stars of the future. Sully is a inside mid aswell as playing as a outside mid (people beilive he will be the next Chris Judd).

I think that Panous will be left to our next pick at 18 which, i think we need to get a tall forward to help Jack Watts.

Yep, he was a beauty, played low & played tall.

Actually that footage of Panos wasn't too far off how Neita played.

Lockett allways seemed so big, tall, but in real life didn't seem so big.

Panos at 18 would be massive. 2 elite midfielders and the U18 All-Australian Full Forward. Ideal outcome in my eyes.

I'm hoping one of Jake Carlisle or Panos is still available at 18. If we could get one of these two, or perhaps Talia, i'd be very happy with that.

What are the chances of us passing on Trengove and Morabito and take Gary Rohan at pick 2? Other than Scully, Rohan was the player who most impressed me at the Championships this year.

Would be similar to the 2005 National Draft when Collingwood overlooked clear 2nd best player Xavier Ellis to instead take draft-day bolter Dale Thomas at 2. If we did go with Rohan i'd hope that he'd turn out better than Thomas!

I agree Doggo, they're my favourite talls as well.

Scully'll get 9, Trengove will probably get 13, providing we pick him. This thread has become the take Panos with our third pick, thread and I tell you what, I like it. The more I think about it, the more I think we can't pass him up, should he fall to pick 18.

Totally agree!

Scully and Trengove obvious choices.

Pick 18. Panos

I wouldnt mind trying to get another pick between 10-17 though.

I would like one of Tapscott or Jetta or possibly another KP. And also Matthew Smith with Pick 34. Reminds me of Roary Sloane from last years draft but possibly more versatile. Runs and tackles like a cheetah!

Doesn't 'Sully' read the late news on Channel TEN..? Geez, must be a real handy type that multi-tasks. Draft her! I mean him..

Awe, BB-59, there'll be some very good players around the early 2nd Rnd.

IMO it tapers away after 30-ish.

Awe ? probably right to be so..

This draft doesnt look nearly as strong this year past about the13-15 mark... happy to cede you think it goes further with quality ..I dont ..well not the same calibre. And thats my point..Is there better value in the prospective at 18 as compared some trade whilst still arguably getting another pick sub 30 ? maybe...maybe not..but I would think it warrants close scutiny.

The kids have to earn the low numbers now. That's why Strauss and Blease couldn't get 17. If they still go by that then Jurrah to get 9, Bennell to get 13, Jetta to get 17 and Spencer to get 28 if he gets promoted. Scully to get 31 and Trengrove 35. Considering all the holes on our list we have to go for the best players. We haven't recruited midfielders for years, not since we last made the finals recruiting Jones so we are more than due to get some new blood into the midfield. It would have been nice to go for a tall but not a tall that can't kick and Butcher is an ordinary kick, so it has to be Scully and Trengrove with Morabito and possibly Rohan as possibilities.

I don't think we can lose with pick 18. We need a key forward so Panos would be good. We need players who can kick so Tapscott would be good. We need players with pace so Jetta would be good. If we picked up a key defender then I would be surprised.

You haven't mentioned a bloke by the name of Watts. He was an extremely valued draft pick, just as Scully and Trengove would be...Watts was given 4, I can see Scully being given the recently famed #9.

Also 23, 24 and 3 might be available at the end of the year

Yeah, sorry mate but I was shocked when you inferred the drafts virtually over after 15.

Maybe wishfull thinking on my part, but also it's more difficult this year with so little vision around ATM, re young players.

Heres some more names to add -

Nathan Vardy Andrew Moore Mitchell Duncan Jake Carlisle Matthew Panos

Allen Christensen Alex Carey Lewis Jetta Ben Griffiths Ryan Bastinac Dylan McNeil

Travis Colyer Sam Reid Roland Ah Chee i'm hopefull we'll find some talent into our 3rd Rnd pick.

One thing I wil say going into this years draft/trade s thatfor a change I really have faith in what our lot are doing. predergast and his band of merry scouts and aids are pretty much on the money...well given a few lacklustres but you will always get one or two who dont quite come up to excpectations. The club seem to have an eye for hidden talent and those players avoiding radars etc. I intrpret the writings of media scribes etc that currently the club would favour Scully and Trengove...leaving the 18 and 34 picks as anyones guess. Im sure we ( MFc) have some in our sights. And then there are the out of left field surprises.....so who knows what our line up will be come the start of season 2010

You may have missed the fact that the club publicly stated earlier this year (or late last) that not withstanding Watts receiving number 4 in future new draftees will be given higher numbers until they earn a lower one.

Yeah but it's not all roses because Blease and Strauss can't move up on that basis so this year's draftees need to go into the 50s - not that there's anything intrinsically wrong with that. Maybe they'll give Scully 55.

Does anyone know how young Vandelay who attracted some attention last year but wasn't drafted is going ATM?
