Demonland/Demonology Get together Function

Recommended Posts

The Demonland/Demonology Sponsorship group announces its first official function for the year - an informal get together at the Mount View Hotel (once owned by the great Ronald Dale Barassi) 70 Bridge Rd, Richmond, VIC 3121 on a date to be advised (probably before the Freo game).

The event includes:

• Introduction to our 2009 Sponsorship of Barry Prendergast (club recruiting officer);

• Panel including RudeBoy (mentor and Victorian host to Liam Jurrah and one of Australia's foremost exponents of ska music),

Whispering Jack (Dylan fan) and Redleg (Doobie Brothers fanatic but please don't hold that against him) - discussion: Liam Jurrah's

journey from Yuendumu to the MCG; drafting for the future at the MFC after the recent Under 18 National Championships and a match

preview of Melbourne v Port Adelaide.

And the good news is that the function is FREE (but you pay for your food and drink)

I just want to make it clear that Barry Prendergast won't be at this function but we will give a brief resume of how our sponsorship of him will work and about the exciting function we'll be having with Barry later in the year.

All are invited - this is your chance to put a face to the names and the walk afterwards to the G is short and invigorating ... see you there.

Hi - there's been a late change. One of our panelists is unable to attend, so we are not going ahead with the event this week. At this stage it is proposed to have the event on Sunday 16 August, before the Freo game.

More details to follow, but at least there is more time for people to organise themselves for the day.

JUST BUMPING THIS UP AS A REMINDER

The function is a get together of Demonlanders and Demonologists before Sunday's game - all are welcome and it's free!

Thanks for inviting me to meet with a number of Demon supporters and chat about my connection with Liam Jurrah. Seems like he had another good day at the office as well. Believe me, next year when he's really fit and has another 5 ks of muscle, he will be scary. Cheers.

And thanks for coming and enlightening us not only on Liam's journey but on the work being done by the Industrial Magpies in the area of bringing about reconciliation in this country. Time has prevented me from preparing a report on the meeting but I'll try to weave some of the stories in a future article. As for LJ, his game was sensational and I can't wait to see him when he has had his first pre season with the Dees.

I fulfilled my promise by downloading a Strange Tenant's sone from Itunes. I'm now the proud possessor of "Calling all Rudeboys" - the song is very catchy but you'd never forget the lyrics when performing the song would you?

And on a further note ... we followed up yet another Demonland/Demonology function with a win at the MCG. The way things are going we might have to have 10 or 11 functions next year  and a special long one before the Collingwood game.

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the

GAMEDAY: Rd 15 vs North Melbourne

It's Game Day and it very well could be the last roll of the dice for the Demon's finals aspirations in 2024. A loss to the bottom side would be another embarrassing moment in a cursed year for the Dees whilst a win could be the spark they need to reignite the fire in the belly.

    THE HUNTER by The Oracle

Something struck me as I sat on the couch watching the tragedy of North Melbourne’s attempt to beat Collingwood unfold on Sunday afternoon at the MCG.    It was three quarter time, the scoreboard had the Pies on 12.7.79, a respectable 63.16% in terms of goal kicking ratio. Meanwhile, the Roos’ 18.2.110 was off the charts at 90.00% shooting accuracy. I was thinking at the same time of Melbourne’s final score only six days before, a woeful 6.15.51 or 28.57% against Collingwood’s 14.5.89

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

    TURNAROUND by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons won their first game at home this year in the traditional King’s Birthday Weekend clash with Collingwood VFL on Sunday in a dramatic turnaround on recent form that breathed new life into the beleaguered club’s season. The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res
