Jack Grimes to me is looking like Melbourne's next future captain. Thats my prediction.

With the 2nd half of the season to go I think we might hear some rumblings soon!

And pick his brother with pick 18 or possibly even later in the draft. Keen to be a Demon.

Grimes for captain next year huh? Don't you think we should let him settle into the game a little first? Perhaps give it to one of the older guys for a couple of years?

I believe if he has the leadership qualities we hear of there is no reason why we could'nt give the captaincy to the young fella. Looks the part when playing and shows poise and consistency. Maybe your right! But I think it could be a possibility. Will have a better idea at seasons end.

I say we give it to Scully if we pick him up in the draft!!!

Ive heard rumblings that Tom McNamara is suppose to have great leadership qualities, what about him for captain in 2010 and beyond??? ;)

LOL... Mid-season break really is taking it's toll on the posters at 'land...

The kid's played less than 10 games. Give him a chance to settle into the 22 before we start talking captaincy.

So, as Jack's younger brother, how is the kid feeling these days?

Seriously. If it weren't for the fact they were so funny, these threads should be locked. 'ology has Friday Funnies, we have Sunday stupidity.

You got the wrong Jack dont you mean no 4 .

Seeing Watts perform on Camera hes a natural for talking to the Media.

So if he can live up to his potential hes a shoe in to be captain at some stage.

Would have thought either Green or Mclean would be next

Grimes IMO will be captain one day but at his age it wouldnt be politically correct :P

There is a third Grimes brother, he is only 13 but he is a class captain and a member of the debating team, he is the obvious choice.

I heard Darren Kowal was interested in the job, surely he has to be the right choice...

Haha let's get 13-year-old mini Grimes on a program now, should be captain by his year 12.

Mamadou Sakho captained Paris Saint-Germain in the French top division at 17. But for us I think there should be a 25-game minimum!!

There are a lot of silly threads but at least our break isn't as long as some, a week and a half, could be worse.

This is getting ridiculous.

:)

I agree -- can we please try and engage brains before posting threads please people?

I'm amazed Newton hasn't been thrown up.....

PS. Sorry...I was in the mood.

Aaron Davey?

Sure is one of the few candidates that is standing up on the field. Brad Green, Brent Moloney are two others.

Word is going round that Scott Chisolm is interested in the position too...

I'm going early on this one....

Jack Viney.

Something to look forward to....bit of grit & determination if he's a chip off the ol' block.

I would prefer this. Don't want Green as captain our old players are a cancer in this club. We should learn from making McDonald captain it has been a disaster. McLean has gone backwards. Our youngsters have to lead the older players have failed. Personally I don't think anyone should be captain they don't deserve it.

Agreed, Just let the kid settle. Brad Green or Beamer Moloney should be captain.

  • AFLW REPORT: Port Adelaide

Well, that was a shock. The Demons 4-game unbeaten run came to a grinding halt in a tense, scrappy affair at the sunny, windy Alberton Oval, with the Power holding on for a 2-point win. The Dees had their chances—plenty of them—but couldn't convert when it mattered most. Port’s tackling pressure rattled the Dees, triggering a fumble frenzy and surprising lack of composure from seasoned players.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Port Adelaide

The undefeated Demons venture across the continent to the spiritual home of the Port Adelaide Football Club on Saturday afternoon for the inaugural match for premiership points between these long-historied clubs. Alberton Oval will however, be a ground familiar to our players following a practice match there last year. We lost both the game and Liv Purcell, who missed 7 home and away matches after suffering facial fractures in the dying moments of the game.

  • AFLW REPORT: Richmond

A glorious sunny afternoon with a typically strong Casey Fields breeze favouring the city end greeted this round four clash of the undefeated Narrm against the winless Tigers. Pre-match, the teams entered the ground through the Deearmy’s inclusive banner—"Narrm Football Weaving Communities Together and then Warumungu/Yawuru woman and Fox Boundary Rider, Megan Waters, gave the official acknowledgement of country. Any concerns that Collingwood’s strategy of last week to discombobulate the Dees would be replicated by Ryan Ferguson and his Tigers evaporated in the second quarter when Richmond failed to use the wind advantage and Narrm scored three unanswered goals.

  • CASEY: Frankston

The late-season run of Casey wins was broken in their first semifinal against Frankston in a heartbreaking end at Kinetic Stadium on Saturday night that in many respects reflected their entire season. When they were bad, they committed all of the football transgressions, including poor disposal, indiscipline, an inability to exert pressure, and some terrible decision-making, as exemplified by the period in the game when they conceded nine unanswered goals from early in the second quarter until halfway through the third term. You rarely win when you do this.

  • AFLW PREVIEW: Richmond

Round four kicks off early Saturday afternoon at Casey Fields, as the mighty Narrm host the winless Richmond Tigers in the second week of Indigenous Round celebrations. With ideal footy conditions forecast—20 degrees, overcast skies, and a gentle breeze — expect a fast-paced contest. Narrm enters with momentum and a dangerous forward line, while Richmond is still searching for its first win. With key injuries on both sides and pride on the line, this clash promises plenty.
