Changes for next week

INS : Cheney, Jetta, Jamar

OUT : Petterd, Robbo, Whelan

Play Martin as a FF for a whole game. Jetta to take Petterds spot and Cheney to take Whelans spot. We all know what we are going to get when Whelan takes the field, but i would much rather see Cheney out there, the future.

Robbo selfish and deserves to be dropped. Petterd needs some confidence injected back at Casey and Jamar back to the Number 1 ruck role, with PJ resting up forward

IN: Bell, Jamar,

Out: Jones, Petterd

These are my realistic changes. Would love to drop Robbo but it wont happen. Jamar to come in and share ruck duties meaning Martin to play permanent forward. Bell has been in the bests playing as an inside mid 2 weeks in a row and deserves the chance to see if his form translates to AFL level. Jones is falling into old habits the last couple of weeks and not taking the first option and turning it over too often. Petterd needs to go back to Casey and try and become a midfielder as he does not work forward and there are too many options ahead of him down back.

robbo has 1 bad game and you want to drop him? give him a chance!

and how could you drop jones? you really think bell would do a better job??

i dont think any changes are really needed.. solid team!

No change ... persist with this side till mid-season break unless injuries force a change. Post mid-season break start inserting "kids" for the rest of season.

Its robbo's lack of commitment and work ethic.

I lost my marbles when he, for the third time in the match, leapt for a speccy, missed it soundly, then lay on his back as the opposition ran it out of defence. He actually sat up a bit, with the ball within a metre or 2 and didn't move, just watched.

Happens far too often.

If he was on a higher profile team he would be maligned as much as Fevola.

I agree petterd could do with being dropped too. He needs to find some form and give someone else a crack.

I agree about Jones but I would tell him that and give him a week to fix it, then maybe send him back.

Been calling for a rest 4 the Pett 4 a couple weeks now.. we want fresh bodies versus the FILTH! (for our 2nd win)

A lot of the lads are still young.. Bennell and the Petts -(anyone like early Elton John?? )- should've been rested this week

Can we go easy on Robbo til he gets back up to speed, like we DIDN'T do with Brocky and P.J? [censored] one minute we can't wait til he gets back, then after no time its- 'drop him, he's not perfect'...

give him a chance, he's been our Whole forward line since well Before Neita departed... and at least he's kicking goals and still presenting even when he's stuffed.. and Don't even compare his demeanour to Fevolas!!

Fitness or "getting back up to speed" does not affect ones choice to lairise or play selfish football. He needs to play for the team or go back to Casey and finish his career there.

My starting line -up for Round 10 v St.kilda: -

Backs: Whelan Warnock Rivers

H-Backs: Grimes Frawley Davey

Centres: Morton Sylvia Moloney

H-Fwds: Green Martin Bruce

Fwds: Robertson Miller Maric

Foll: Johnson McDonald Jones

Int'change: Cheney Bate McLean Bennell

Emerg: Jetta Jamar Petterd

In: Cheney

Out: Petterd

Warnock to take Kosi, Frawley for Riewoldt.

Bailey to keep adjusting the forward line to suit. Martin to ruck when required.

IN: Jamar

OUT: Petterd or if injured Whelan.

I agree Petterd needs a spell but if Whelan's nose injury keeps him out for a week I'd like them to keep Petterd in and start him off half back, see how he goes back in the more familiar defensive role.

FB: Rivers, Warnock, Bennell

HB: Frawley, Martin, Whelan*

C: Morton, Moloney, Davey

HF: Sylvia, Miller, Green

FF: Bate, Robertson, Maric

FOLL: Johnson, Bruce, McLean

INT: Grimes, Jamar, Jones, McDonald

EMERG: Bartram, Bell, Petterd

I agree petterd could do with being dropped too. He needs to find some form and give someone else a crack.

Is it just me or have others noticed that he doesn't seem to be able to find/make space and can't seem to get away from his opponent?

If Whelan's injured then Cheney in for Whelan.

If Jamar's ready for AFL footy (which I suspect he's not), then we must bring him in (out Petterd?). We can't continue to ruck Martin when he could be learning the trade of a forward or a backman.

Out: Petterd, Whelan

In: Bell (to play a tagging role on Ball), Jamar

I love Whelan, but he is just not accountable enough, and that hurts us.

Cheney could be a good replacement, but I'm content to let Bennell and Grimes play the small attacking defender role for now.

Why can't Martin learn his trade as a ruckman resting forward pocket, this gives us a chance to play another running type player off the bench.

No injuries no change

I don't think Robbo lairises too much- i think of the whole goalsquare thing from yest, as more of a brain fade.. lets just pop it thru, get back into the centre a.s.a.p, then get it back down to me again quick, sort of thing..

the lairising he does do..well thats just Robbo! Been like that for years, don't think it will change now!! He's always flying round like a 20 y.o trying to take a hanger an all that.. that's his strength and IMHO the reason he's been so good for so long.. When all else fails, you can pop it to the top of the pack and chances are still good, an out-numbered Robbo will fly to the top and pull it in- what an asset to have and rare in this day an age.. Also, Definately NOT selfish our Robbo!

Nice! Can't wait for the day we see

IN: WATTS

OUT: MILLER

Imagine- the Messiah in a forward pocket, with big Stef keeping an eye on him to see he settles into his 1st couple of games.. sweet..

..again, can we give Wheels a minute to get back up to speed before we drop him??

Did you see what he did? Or just by reports?

It was very selfish.

UHH did you even watch it. How was it selfish.. stupid yes but not selfish he took a mark in the goalsquare you moron what do you want him to do handball it backwards.

In: Bartram / Dunn, MacNamara

Out: Petterd, Rivers

Need a tagger, Barty was clearly fit so must have been off-field issues for him to have a rest (and lets face it, he deserves it), give Tom Mac a run, as Rivers was pitiful......

Any maybe Jetta for Robbo, not sure on that one, but figured might get some conversation juices flowing....

Of course I saw it you twit. He took the mark. Why handball backwards? You'd make a great coach wouldn't you!!

Selfish because he didn't go back and kick the goal. Selfish because he thinks of himself and wants everything to look spectacular.

He is payed to kick goals, not show boat.

What other jerk tries that on his back? Probably just Fevola. That speaks volumes.

As I said it was stupid not selfish

He doesn't think of himself actually

do you know him, have you ever met him ?

he is melbourne through and through he is a showman and yes im sure if he had his time again he would do it differently but just because he made a mistake doesnt mean we drop him you clown.

If you were a topline coach of the AFL, and you wanted to set an example to the youth of the side and abide by team rules. You might just contemplate dropping him. bailey might not, maybe dragging him is just it. So he should of too. Maybe Robbo learns by that lesson.

Regardless of it being stupid or selfish or both.

Whilst I don't know him, I have met him, but what has that got to do with it?

Don't take it so personally D Tingles.

If you want my honest opinion Tingles, I have no time for those who will not abide by team rules, or those who put themselves before the team for personal gain, whether it's for a goal, or even trying for goal of the year. The team always comes first in my book. Comprende'?

Did you see what he did? Or just by reports?

It was very selfish.

Na.. it was stupid, a brain-fade.. not selfish because there wasn't anyone in a better position to kick the goal, or pass it to. He was in the best position to goal and Stupidly played on and missed.. not selfish, unneccessary.

BTW- wouldn't comment on it if i hadn't seen it, geezus.

  • REPORT: Richmond

The fans who turned up to the MCG for Melbourne’s Anzac Day Eve clash against Richmond would have been disappointed if they turned up to see a great spectacle. As much as this was a night for the 71,635 in attendance to commemorate heroes of the nation’s past wars, it was also a time for the Melbourne Football Club to consolidate upon its first win after a horrific start to the 2025 season. On this basis, despite the fact that it was an uninspiring and dour struggle for most of its 100 minutes, the night will be one for the fans to remember. They certainly got value out of the pre match activity honouring those who fought for their country. The MCG and the lights of the city as backdrop was made for nights such as these and, in my view, we received a more inspirational ceremony of Anzac culture than others both here and elsewhere around the country.

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
