I'm an MCC member as well as MFC so I get in free, sure. I just don't want to foster this "experiment".

I dont know why anyone would want to boycott any of our games, twilight, etihad whatever. We need all the supporters at the games we can, home game or not. Im sick of people msging me while watching the game saying "hey looks like there are 10 people there."

No. Despite the crap timeslot and how much I hate twilight games and how much I hate the AFL for making twilight games, the club needs support, and I would go no matter what.

as an MFC member do I actually hurt the club by going this week. I.e., they have to write a cheque on my behalf?

So you've gone through all of that you described, but you won't support your team Sunday evening against last year's premiers, after two recent solid good showings by the Dees?

If you're against Twilight, I suggest you write to the AFL and vent your spleen. Then you can turn up on Sunday.

I understand your frustration, as do we all, with regard to fixturing. But we all know that once our teams performances improve, so will our attendances and more people will watch. This should translate to favourable fixturing and tv exposure. Ie Friday night games, Saturday fixtures.

I thought the Bulldogs supporters were more to blame. Ours may not have been wonderful, but their turnout was pathetic.

I thought the Dogs supporters numbers were good but not THAT good considering it was a "compensation" game for them. Our numbers did not indicate we have a suporter base who will more likely turn up Saturday as I had hoped. Simply put, not enough of us or them. If this had been a Sunday twilight it would have been a disaster.

I'm not into boycotts. Ultimately if I can't go to the footy at certain times then I just don't go!

An article in The Age (I think) pointed out that the Monday night crowd for the Saints and Collingwood would have been much higher had it not been on a Monday night. This fixturing was a 'failure' IMO but has been largely overlooked because 46,000 is still a good crowd and didn't loose the hosts money.

I love the twighlight matches. Get a full weekend with the family then head off to the footy, can't ask for more than that. Not to mention we just might beat them, certainly not to be missed!!

I hate twighlight games as well however, I couldn't care less about this one because it ain't OUR home game. I went to our last one against the crows & I'll go to this as well.

Sorry I am not sure why you would encourage people to boycott any game the club is involed in when you know the fiscall sitaution we are in. Irrepective of the time slot or the opposition we all need to support the club and help to remedy its finincial crisis. The surge in memberships after the debt demolition dinner does not suffice for the problem being erradicated. Sure it went some way to adding to bringing as back toward an even keel, however the real impact will be when fans turn up week in week out. It may help Hawthorn, but the more red and blue fans who get to the game the more will go the following week due to a consensus effect. There were viably more melbourne supporters there against the bulldogs and I must congratulate initiatives like the one which gather outside gate 4 at home games. More and more people should be going to games and not whining about the time slot, or the day on which the game is played. Please remember that for two years we played crap football, which in turn attracted crap crowds and poor television ratings. I cant say if I was an opposition supporter I would want to go home on Friday night and watch Melbourne and Geelong in prime time either. However whilst the club continues to improve we may see more and more prime time games. We needed to be there in force on Saturday to show why we whould be in that Saturday afternoon time slot. However when the game looked lost halfway through the final quarter people got up and started walking out NOT GOOD ENOUGH PEOPLE this happens time and time again and it is a poor mentality amongst our supporter base.

Until we start to really win games tighten your lips and just keep turning up to the football the improvment is there. If you think we are going to win the flag this year or next and go to the football thinking we will beat the likes of Geelong or St Kilda take your kids to play tennis or some other poofy sport because real football clubs are not built around supporter mediocrity and lack of faith thery are built on resiliance faith in the team, pride at wearing the teams colours through think and thin. If you cant do that then go and play golf or do something else with your time.

I like going to the footy so I'll go when I can.

However, I understand the thinking behind it - if twilight footy pulls good crowds it's unlikely to be ditched.

The above statement is a major reason why this club has no respect from the football world. if you dont go to the games regardless of what time we play you are just a barracker and not a SUPPORTER

Sunday twilight isn't my preference. I'm about 90min drive from the G, longer when you factor in just getting out of the car park. So getting home after 9pm on a sunday night isn't what I would like.

BUT....

As for boycotting the hawthorn home game at twilight, it probably saves the club a little cash since the entry wont be activated. I don't know the exact rules, so don't quote me.

Working hospitality my weekends are generally taken up. This year I worked Sat and Sunday, all day and night. By about rd3 I'd convinced my boss to give me Sundays off (just so I could make it to the most games) and happily gave up a Friday night off. That in mind, i'm going Sunday. I don't care whose home game it is (although if someone can confirm that we can use our memberships to get in that'd be sweet) I've got to go. I'm loving watching the development in this team and nothing short of having to go to work will stop me watching more of it.
