Let's get all of the grimes

Just heard on TAC Cup Future Stars that Jack Grimes little brother is a likely type...

On right now, worth watching...

Read an article last week about him (forgot his first name). Said he'd love to play for the Dee's with his bro. Jack is living his dream playing at the club he grew up barracking, and Grimes mk2 wants in as well!

If he's as good as Jack then could well be worth a look...

Is he in this year's draft? If so he might be a chance with our round 2 or 3...

dont know why every1 italks up this grimes fella...we got him for trading Travis at pick 14 and hes done nothing. Some ppl need to be a bit more realistic about some players on the list

Yeah he is in the years draft (or eligible to be so at least)

im not even going to bother replying to this properly, other than grimes has only played 3 games, yet is able to gather 25 possies with 96% efficiency on the weekend.

trav is part of the old team and the old culture

You have got to be kidding me? Grimes is a Fantastic kid who has a fanstic kick, Engine and has amazing leadership qualitys.

Getting Grimes for Travis was a win for us.

Well what do you expect from him? His already exceeded my expectations.

I'm guessing you are either a 15 year old supporter of another team, or you weren't at the game yesterday...or both.

Some ppl need to be more realistic about what they want a 20 year old to do in 3 games...

I was at the game muppet. and some ppl need to be more realistic about rating a player after 3 games. Bit premature to get excited over this kid and start calling first dibs on his bro

Not trying to be harsh to Grimes, but sick of ppl overrating our (young) list. Addam Maric is another case where some posters would have me believe his 12 disposals have him sort after by every club in the land. Give credit where it deserves, like Bennells outstanding performance against WC last week which reminded me of a young flash

So you'll give credit to a kid who has played 7 games then?

Or is it cos he reminded you of flash?

So if grimes plays another FOUR games and reminds me of nathan buckley, can i want to take his younger brother?

(For the record, grimes did have, I think, 24 kicks yesterday with only 1 not hitting its target. Please correct me if I'm wrong. But not a bad start.)

Ok, back on topic - Dylan Grimes looks to be a likely type, but i think he'll be a second or third round pick.

Good enough player, but not quite in the same mould as jack, not quite as solid. When I say solid, i mean reliable, steady.

A bit taller too i think (might be wrong).

Contradicting yourself...

You say we overate maric and grimes and to stop getting excited blah blah blah and then say give credit to bennell??

IMO (and most others) is that trading Jonno for Grimes could be one of the best things this club has done in the last couple of years.

edit: Enforcer25 has already said it for me

A Hurstbridge contact assures me that Dylan has all Jack's poise and skills(and character, AND loves the Demons too). AND he's about 5cm taller than Jack.Youngest brother Aaron looks the goods, too. If ONLY we could keep them under wraps.

Incidentally, it's so poignant that the reason their Dad, Steve is a die-hard Demon, because Dr Don Cordner was their local doctor, in fact he even delivered members of their family(presumably the generation before Jack).

Oh for a brother-brother rule to add to the father-son.

Jack's poise during his three games is a portent of great things.

It is a bit OTT to be calling for us to draft his brother, but we are all entitled to be excited about Grimes' performances. I think, given that he has only played 3 games, what we've seen gives us all the more reason to talk him up.

One way to stir up a thread I suppose. He's shown alot IMO, and that IS being realistic, sure you were at the same game I was?

You've obviously got no idea if you rate Bennell and not Grimes. Contradicted yourself big time. And you call other posters 'muppets!'

By game, do you mean Carlton Collingwood? Because correct me if I'm wrong but after Morton and Davey I thought Grimes was close to one of our best players. Certianly around top five. He was reliable, his kicking hits the target almost every single time, he has an amazing tackling ability and footy smarts to get him out of tricky situations. Why wouldn't we be excited by him. He's a gun. Certainly a far greater future prospect than Jack Watts at this point... And by that I mean Grimes has actually proven himself at AFL level, as has Bennell. Doesn't matter how many games theyve played. Either don't post, or grow a brain.

Let's not get carried away!!

Is there a chance that Grimes could be the Norwich Rising Star Nominee for this week? I cant think of too many other youngsters who had blinders. Grimes wasnt outstanding, but if you have a couple of good ones in a row they tend to reward you with a nom nowadays...

Nahas 5 goals will get the nod ahead of Grimes I would think.

Not yet it isn't. It's LOOKING like a win, but for all we know he could go on a lovely long injury run, or have Bate-like form drop-offs. If he's BADLY injury prone, like McLean, then the ledger isn't as clearly in our favour.

I'm excited, and Grimes is progressing ahead of schedule, but I think what Grant was saying was that we need to temper SOME of the excitement being generated. Just as some of the abuse of the likes of Bate, Bruce etc etc is unwarranted, some of the outrageously positive remarks are taking it too far as well.

Nahas is too old. Many are giving it to Grimes this week...

Only realised this morning that he played three years of VFL. He must have looked like an infant in his first VFL year as he only looks about 12 years old now  Grimes should be a shoo in if that is the case.

Yes Nahas was playing for Port Melbourne for a few years before he moved to train with Richmond and was taken as a rookie by them.

I remember playing at Okleigh Chargers back in the day with him. He is a gun. Won't win the rising star as he is 22 this year, but nonetheless he is a great player.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
