Jack Watts' goal from the boundary

Left foot. What a goal. This kid is a freak.

yeh good goal but we has trying to centre it.

I think most of us would be best advised to watch that video in the privacy of our bedrooms.

I think he knows exactly where those sticks are ;)

Already the brilliance showing through

Some current Melbourne players ( enuff said..we know 'em ) cant hit the side of a barn..this kid threads the eye of a needle..wrong sided to boot!!

Something to get quietly excited about I think :)

I reckon I've replayed that goal 53 times and ....still counting...I don't think he was trying to centre it. The way it left the boot, it looked to me to be a left foot banana kick - on the run, hence the curl of the ball through the goal posts from right to left.. At first glance I thought it was a drop punt that he was trying to centre. He is a freak, Freak.

Loved what he did in the first quarter - 1st goal. The other players were all in slow motion.

yeah what a gem we have in mr Jack Watts, good goals, did any one else catch the Brawl?

There was a touch of arse in the goal, but it was still pretty handy.

Andrew Lamprill kicked a better goal with his first kick for Melbourne.

You did not just bring up Lamprill in a thread about Watts did you. I know your agenda, but still. It would be like mentioning Dicky Simpkins in a thread about Michael Jordon.

Definately meant it.

You can see, he looks to the top of the square for an option (team player), sees that there is no-one free and decides to have a crack himself.

Brilliant.

Great Goal ... lets hope their are plenty more to come in the upcoming years.

The video doesn't do it justice, because it doesn't show the contest in its entirety.

Watts actually won the ball out of the ruck before picking it up off the deck.

And while it may have been a bit of a fluke goal, the beauty of it is that he has the agility to switch sides quickly, that he is able to kick off both sides without hesitation, and that he has a good sense of where to go in the contest.

He's a bit special!

I don't car if he didn't look to centre it, coz it shows he has the hunger and confidence to just go for it, wish SOME of the seniors would do that in stead of trying to palm off the task of kicking goals to another teammate.

I think you are the sort of poster Choko was talking about.

I thought he tried to centre and kicked a floater.

For me the exciting bit was what he did leading up to the kick.

Me too. He's play to the audience behind the fence after it sailed through, was confirmation for me that he went for it. His agility and balance is something else.

I just think that Watts is a confident player who knows there is a heap of expectation on him and the better than expected outcome felt like that expectation lift momentarily

What an amazing goal.

We havent had a Voss/Hird/Judd type since Robbie Flower.

Looks like Watts will be the one, finally.

Whether he meant it or not, it was a great goal.

And you got to love the little salute he gave to the crowd.

Can't say the boy lacks confidence.

I think he actually meant it, if he was going to centre it, he has the skill not to kick it so high a centre ball that high would have been no good, it would have been rushed through, I think a lot of the centring posters don't want to get too over excited.....

Watts played a really Smart footy players game. Best thing about watching him was that there is so much more potential to come, he is still a boy.

I really think we should trade our first pick ( not PP ) for Trent Cotchin, this bloke is going to be a superstar. Carlton screwed up big time on this one. Tigers would be mad to let him go, but you never know.

I think you may be right Freak. I reckon he was trying to get it inboard. His toe seemed to be pointing towards the centre of the ground in the second angle, the one from the boundary in the pocket. But to be honest, I think his intention would only make me happier.

What excited me more was how easily he just stepped around his opponent. It's not so much his pace (which is considerable) but his Davey-like ankles and posture... he has that way of suggesting he's going to zag, when he ultimately zigs... In other words, he doesn't telegraph his movement.

Awesome. Now let's see him do it on Scarlett, Rutten or Glass.

WOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWWWWWWWWW

What A GOAL!!!

Watts' ability at ground level is amazing. All 3 goals were crumbing goals. As time goes on this guy will only get better.

Next week at Casey he'll kick 5 or 6.

His movement is very similar to James Hird

Looks like he had all day as soon as he gained posession until executing the kick

The goal was great but like Rhino its not what took my eye
