As a guy, I'm used to dating women who have no interest in football or sport in general. But most girls I've dated tend to give up whatever token football allegience they might have and hope for the best for the Demons, only because they recognise how much it means to me.

What I have had trouble with are the girls who see football as a rival for my attention (and/or affection) and as a result resent it. Never did work out well with that type.

But now I am married to a woman who used to go for Essendon but knew nothing about them, only favouring them because she liked their colours, and never having been to a game in her life.

I am happy to say however that she is now a paid up Melbourne member.

She still doesn't go to games though, preferring to stay home and follow the scores on the radio or TV. But she knows most of the players. (I think she has a thing for Brad Miller.) And she gets excited. When Addam Maric kicked that goal from 50 on Sunday she screamed 'Go little Addam!!'.

So all in all, I've done well. :D

Nice one Einstein!! Pretty sure my wife fancies Brad as well!! And I fancy Brad`s Missus ;)

Good to see the doggies getting a few members.

Correction. We're now 30,630!!^

With that number of members we should never be in a position where we have to write out cheques for the pleasure of playing at our home ground.

Get down to the game people!

Saints are now 30,368.

They only have that many??? I thought they regularly (I don't know how, with the lack of success they've had down there) got 35,000+. Apparently, I was wrong.

Go the dees though! Just imagine if we were on top, 7 straight...we'd have at least 35,000 then. ;)

Dob in a Demon:

One good thing: I dobbed in the future Brother in Law, didn't answer his phone, they then sent him a follow up letter - good to see.

Not the best thing: After the drama of dobbing in the fiancee and her using my card, we noted it only cost $84, we assumed it'd been a cheap deal because of being referred. Got it yesterday, only admits to 3 games, we would've been willing to pay more.

Great idea though, our numbers are showing because of it too

I hope after today's showing we can get a few hundred more people on board.

Walked past the marquee near light tower 2 where they were signing quite a few 1 hour prior to game. I think 31000 plus looks good.

No doubt we can get to 31K.

That's a shame - was this via a phone call?

Either way it should have been explained - not only for the benefit of you and the fiancee, but for the benefit of the Club. It's far better to sign up people on the higher value membership products if we can.

yes, definitely troubling.

Anyway, just signed up another premium MCC/MCG membership, so add another to that tally.

Birthday presents have been an easy decision this year.. albeit expensive

I must say 28,000 odd was disappointing on Saturday at the G. I thought supporters of both clubs were not well represented. The weather was ok too.

I was expecting at least 35,000.

3 hours before the game it was raining heavy down on the Mornington peninsula ( not sure about everywhere else ) This may have caused some people to stay home and watch the game on foxtel. BTW it was bloody cold at the game.

Keeps going ^^

PS. Unfortunately St.Kilda passed us and is now 30,851

In a few years time when we are sitting atop with 8 zip next to our name, our membership tally will be way above 45,000. That is a really poor figure for the Saints considering the way they are going.

Maybe the supporters are not Happy to be at Etihad Airlines Stadium after all

Veteran Demonland Trackwatchers Kev Martin, Slartibartfast & Demon Wheels were on hand at Gosch's Paddock to kick off the official first training session for the 1st to 4th year players with a few elder statesmen in attendance as well. KEV MARTIN'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Beautiful morning. Joy all round, they look like they want to be there.  21 in the squad. 2024 Player Reviews: #1 Steven May

The years are rolling by but May continued to be rock solid in a key defensive position despite some injury concerns. He showed great resilience in coming back from a nasty rib injury and is expected to continue in that role for another couple of seasons. 2024 Player Reviews: #4 Judd McVee

It was another strong season from McVee who spent most of his time mainly at half back but he also looked at home on a few occasions when he was moved into the midfield. There could be more of that in 2025. 2024 Player Reviews: #3 Christian Salem

The luckless Salem suffered a hamstring injury against the Lions early in the season and, after missing a number of games, he was never at his best. He was also inconvenienced by minor niggles later in the season. This was a blow for the club that sorely needed him to fill gaps in the midfield at times as well as to do his best work in defence.
