THE GAME - PS3

Spencer is playing.

3 contests that qtr where spencer did not go as hard as coaches wanted.

They pulled him off and Bailey said "I dont care if youre 19, I expect better. Show some intent and put one into his chest. Get the other bloke scared, or I will put someone else on.

Paul Johnson back on and OK.

No change in goals scored

Hits a six to get to 99 and claims his century with 6 off the next!

37.6 Harris to Hughes, SIX, this young man's lived up to the hype! He takes a couple of paces down the track and lofts him with the turn and deposits the ball on the grass embankment over deep midwicket, Hughes take a bow! All the Australians are up on their feet

37.5 Harris to Hughes, SIX, talk about guts! Hughes seizes on another juicy flighted delivery and launches Harris downtown over long-on

no mobile coverage now. Relying on payphone calls, so it will be much harder to get info now. Sorry all.

You've made a lot of Dees fans happy mate, thanks for the effort!

while we wait for updates, probably a good time to mention that he said we have a bit of support up there too.

Hope TJ hasn't had too many touches.

Go dees.

Harris is a bit of a pie chucker, especially on a flat pitch like this. South Africa should be attacking the batsmen's stumps a bit more.

seems our friend the cyclone has dropped a few mobile phone towers, as I cannot raise him at all.

am sitting by the phone for him to use the payphone.

I also have a friend sms ing scores etc... have also lost contact for now !!!!

I lived in Cairns for 10 years and the D`s had been up there 3 or 4 times. They went to a few of the local schools and I reckon they would have won a few hearts over the years!

BTW Hughes dropped on 114

It's probably an opportune time to reflect on the reports about the coaches box being happy with the forward pressure being exerted by the attack - something I felt lacking in the earlier games. Juice would be happy to have three goals up before three quarter time in these conditions. This time last year he was on his way in an ambulance after being KO'd in a NAB Challenge game v Richmond in what heralded a poor season for him. Hopefully, tonight will be his turning point.

Also good to know that PJ's back on the ground.

looks like the payphone has had it too!

Final score in Cairns . Melb 73 Bris 36

Great to finally get a win in a preseason... First in a while.

Hopefully they survive the hurricane and can put on a performance against the Dogs next week!

does anyone know who was missing from bris. Did we beat their second team!!!!!

a great win.... GO DEES

As far as I can tell they were close to full strength - I know they had Brown, TJ and Power all back in the line-up for the game tonight. We had a good number of players missing tonight as well.

Terrific to hear we went on to win the game, just reward for the players after missing out on two games they had every chance to win. Bring on the Doggies!

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.

  • POSTGAME: North Melbourne

The Demons are finally back at the MCG and finally back on the winners list as they continually chipped away at a spirited Kangaroos side eventually breaking their backs and opening the floodgates to run out winners by 6 goals.
