THE GAME - PS3

Maybe Robbo is closer to playing than we expect.

At 30 with a bad snap of your achilles in about Round 14 last year, he will take near 12 months to recover if at all. He is hardly training at the moment.

I think MFC will announce Robbo on the LTI just before Rd 1, elevate and select Spencer for the NM game. There is no rush for MFC to do it right now.

Just on a note on the absentees, Wheels is out again, which means he has had only had half a game in Launceston, which he hobbled out of, has anybody sighted him at training, assume this is why Cheney is getting so much time in the practice matches as a possible replacement, for all you team namers for Rd 1. Over on Demonology, somebody has picked Wheately and Wonna, and has Jamar on the bench, obviously doesn't read the news or the teams, unless they are hidden in the teamsheet for Friday somewhere.

Jamar will struggle to be ready for Rd 1 and is not in for PS 3.

Its just another injury for Whelan. As another poster has said that recurring calf injuries for 30yo players is bad karma and Wheels may struggle to get on the field consistently in what will be his final year IMO.

So who will our ruckmen be in Round 1? Jamar's injured, Meesen's crap, Spencer's a rookie. So it's PJ and who?

Definitely Whelan's last year.

I think rhino is right, big chance spencer could be elevated just before rd 1. This then allows robbo 11 weeks to get right and maybe play later in the year. I really hope meesen goes well tomorrow night and makes the selection process difficult.

Other than the minimum 8 weeks where he can't play a match?

If the Melbourne coaching staff are going to place him on the LTI list, they should do so now. That said, Nick48 on 'ology has reported that Robbo did basically the whole training session yesterday, so he may be back (at least at VFL level) sooner than expected.

I am not sure what to make of the Ology assessment but if Robbo is starting to participate fully in all training drills then I dont think its a goer to put him on the LTI. So there is a dilemna here.

I wouldn't bother with Meesen. He give us nothing in the middle and even less around the ground. We may pinch hit Martin round 1 in the ruck with PJ. :(

Sad but true at the moment at least.

I'm not expecting much tonight but I want the boys to have a red hot go and no injuries please!

Based on the weather report conditions should be hot and stormy - Weather Bureau.

That circular thing over Cairns is called Tropical Cyclone Hamish and is probably named after a prominent Demon supporter.

I wish some network would televise the NAB challenge matches...

........................... Cant they put Robbo on the LTI in the interim and bring Spencer onto the list? He may be raw but in my mind Spencer is our No 1 ruckman. ...............

Or possibly Tom McNamara? I have heard no mention of him for the whole pre-season. Does anyone know the nature of his injury?

I'm quite a fan of 2/285 myself  Go the Hodgemeister!

Kicking into the teeth of a roaring gale according to faulty on 'ology. I assume the start was 7.30pm Queensland time which was a few minutes ago!

Cyclone Hamish is well on his way. Looks like Cairns is likely to be hit hard.

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
