THE GAME - PS2

Make that 2.

Half time: Sydney 3.5.23 Melbourne 3.2.20.

Doing reasonably well in defence and around the ground but nothing up forward.

Is it the same old forward line WJ, or are they trying something different? With Bate and Aussie out I have a feeling it's the same old Newton/Sylvia combo not giving us much...

Best players so far?

5 of the 6 goals scored at the stadium end, the other end exposed due to construction and there's a slight breeze swirling. Swans have the scoring end in the final quarter.

So you'd assume we'd need to kick 4-5 goals this term...

If the wind is as I remember it, we'll see more goals kicked from the midfielders than the forwards, due simply to the fact the wind'll carry the ball.

Is there a breeze favouring one end?

Last time I was at Optus, it was almost impossible to score at one end.

Wind favouring the end Melbourne are kicking to in the next qtr.

Miller is the only forward in the game. Juice and PJ up forward - struggling.

Better players - Garland, Grimes, McLean with Bennell, Jetta, Strauss & Spencer showing out.

The idea of Grimes playing well makes me incredibly pleased.

Do we all remember back in 2000-2002 etc when we had our good years, the amount of run and forward movement we used to get from defence? We've been missing it the last two years, and I really hope with Grimes and Garland et al up back we can start to recreate it.

Spot on. We need to have a more creative structure to our backline, which means that Garland, Warnock and Martin shouldn't be in the same side. In the past I've also suggested that Davey should be given a run in the back pocket.

We'll never break down an opposition's flood or zone unless we become more attack minded.

We're getting a bath. Swans full of running and winning the ball easily out of the middle. Lead 6.7.43 to 3.2.20.

Getting ugly.

Due to the breeze, I feel we really needed to keep the Swans goalless that term, however it is very encouraging to hear that they've kicked themselves back into the game.

Hopefully we can take some momentum into the last.

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an

    ALAS SPRINGS by Whispering Jack

I got the word on Saturday from someone who knows someone inside the Fremantle camp that the Dockers were pumped and supremely confident about getting the W the next day against Melbourne at TIO Traeger Park in the red heart of the country. I was informed that the Dockers were extremely confident for a number of reasons. They had beaten the Demons on their home territory at the MCG at their last two meetings so they didn’t see beating them at Alice Springs as a problem. They belie

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,
