Melbourne fans would be pleased to hear, that as I walked past my local oval today I saw Straussy training hard.

He was doing 200m sprints with a 30sec gap then another ect he was doing this for about half an hour or so

He will be a gun and play min 10 games this year (injuries aside)

Our crop of young guys will provide plenty of excitement on game day. And the current players will have benifited with a season under Bails.

I have a good feeling we will surprise alot of people and will be pushing for a finals spot. Shoot me if I am wrong. Opponents wont expect what we are going to serve up this season. A fight! We will be hard and ferocious. And not too mention quick! Catch us if you can the Dee's will surprise.

With a young list it will all come down to 2 things.

1/ Momentum/Confidence - If this can be gained during the NAB cup, watch out in the early rounds the could be a few upsets coming.

2/ Injuries - Key players must stay fit (our rucks & Forwards are thin so if a couple go down were in trouble).

I'm very optermistic at this stage, and totally agree our attack on the footy should be something to look forward to!

I think people underestimate injuries in the competition.... Mclean and Moloney out last year... losing Neitzs and Robbo.... If we have a fit team we could do anything one to watch will be Silvia into the midfield... He is not a fwd but an onballer who can go fwd just hasn't hasn't got his body right yet....

But next year we won't get near it... the first ten rounds? we play all top eight sides from last year and travel the other two rounds to SA and WA.... I think this will set our tone for the season and although we could come back and win six or seven in the second half of the year we will put it down to development... tank a little (not on the field but in selections etc) and get the priority pick.... I know it sucks but I don't want to be there abouts up and down each year... I want a period on the top like Brisbane, Port, Geelong and a flag to boot... this will go a long way to setting the club up in the future as we need a little success and getting the extra pick aka Niknat this year will go a long way towards it

If by that you mean trade them, then I can see some logic in that. Sylvia would be trade material every season simply because of his suspect body, and the fact he'd have some sort of market value. Davey would be trade material if his form was frustrating simply because he's got HUGE market value and may work out to be a sensational trade for us.

Personally I would hope we'd hang on to both. And as far as Davey's concerned, he's earned an on-off season or two, and he's worth more to the demons where he is with his identity, leadership, and his fanbase as one of the only demons with a clear personality. To trade all that in for, say, pic #4 (which is ambitious to say the least) would leave us horribly short-changed.

He's a good player... He's proven it with consistently good seasons in the past, and despite the criticisms levelled at him regarding his finals football potential. I say, even if he struggles again next season, we keep him.

If he were being played as a forward all year we would be measuring him for an AA jumper.
