I'm quite an old fellow (52) and I'm certainly a pathetic tragic (my wife tells me this constantly). I know that I'm surrounded by other pathetic tragics I on this site so I'm among friends. But I've never been so excited about the prospects of the club as I am now.

I don't know if its the threat of extinction, the prospect of a backs to the wall fight for survival, the cleanout of the place, the arrival of Jimmy, the exciting crop of recruits including the young Messiah, the influx of indigenous players, the prospect of an 193cm quick forward with huge mits from the NT, or a combination of all of the aforementioned. I'm telling you, my blood is pumping and I am AROUSED!!!!

We have a potentially wonderful mix of height, speed, skill, grunt and smarts. They will mature as a group in about three years. Its a very exciting era to witness. Yeah Baby Yeah!!

Couldn't have put it any better myself bt. I think one of year of pain ahead with this really young side, then there are some bloody good times ahead.

I'm of similare vintage btdemon but your "arousal" should be kept in hand.

We have been excited before, we have been the Jan Feb stars on the track before.

We will turn flamboyant footballers with a natural instinct for the game into meaningless running robots who seek positions where neither the ball or an opponent exists

The only thing that stops us year after year is the rubbish we have to beat.

At the start of every seson I pick us to win the flag. I'm gettin [censored] tired.

Well I am 23 and a pathetic tragic, but I feel the same.

With 34 players 25 or younger, we have set ourselves for a tilt...if we're patient.

And with 22 players on our senior list 21 or younger at the start of next season we have to be very patient...

Still, there is excitement in the development; 2008 had Buckley, Garland, Martin, Warnock, and Wonna.

Who will step up in 2009?

I look forward to finding out.

2009 - Grimes, Pettard, Spencer, Martin - These are the ones I'm looking forward to watch. ignore the high profile recruits and take enjoyment out of some of the others developing.

I don't like naming 1st year players but for me spencer is shaping up as one of the most important young players on the list.

Does anyone have any odd's for the Dee's making the 8?

Whilst I'm probably just as excited with the turnover of our list, I also think you need to keep your "arousal" in check. Smaller portions of Viagra recommended.

Arousal isn't just sexual you know. Just a general state of exitement.

Haha........yeah i know....I was being a smarta%$#!!! Don't get too excited is what I meant. Keep a lid on it.

I too am excited about our future. But then again, I'm trying not to get ahead of myself. These players we've drafted will take a few years to develop into AFL players. But I can see a core group of exciting young talent that will take the first step towards success in 2009.

The Demons’ aggressive small forward who kicks goals and defends the Demons’ ball in the forward arc.
