Flanagan gives us a 'warm and fuzzy" piece in the Argus. Writes about Schwabby and the club in warm tones. There's no derision, no inuendo...no cheap shots.. ....egads.. the worm IS turning. With all the positivity of the draft and the Green article.. etc etc we may well climb back aboard the popularity bus yet!!

What I think a lot of people are now starting to realise ( though we always knew ) is that there IS a large following for this club and many do indeed give a damn and want it to not just survive but flourish

In a sense there is nothing really new for we blooded followers of this mob in the words of the paper but despite the mention ( in passing ) of our plight we are now being seen as not just participants of this game but in many ways the embodiment of everything it is.

And yes I would love our jumper in blood red and real navy blue and think it would be a great boost for or mechandise sales

It's a great reminder to any disillusioned supporter, that this is a club you should be proud to barrack for, and that is only going to increase in the future.

that's great to read isn't it... seems that last article really hit home with many here... I assume that means they will be changing the contrast of the jumper this year...

The reference to the colours I thought was the most important point...Blood Red, what a great colour and the real navy blue...hopefully it'll be in next years jumper. It was the silly idea to look good for colour TV that changed it for the worse.

Also I loved the line about Jimmy in Paris....

I like what he's saying, but in the article the wording doesn't necessarily speak about changing the gurnsey if you look closely "the colour is stronger, bolder, more brilliant, that's what we're going back to" i.e. going back to being strong, bold and brilliant AS A CLUB. Also, the colours jump out on the TV, perhaps the material is constructed with that in mind? To be more vivid for digital? I dunno... I may be speaking out of my arse here. (It has been known to happen)

Unless you have a recent picture of an old jersey, don't compare the two. I doubt they had 8mp camera's in the 60s. But yeah, the "old" red was a dark, blood red. It was a vicious red. We went from vicious red and black navy blue, to baby blue and vicious red, to tomato red and dark blue.

Is it just me, or does the Barras jumper just look more Devilish? More Devious and more out there? I absolutely love our jumper, but the old one certainly represents who we are.

The difference could by the colour dyes in the fabric. Barassi's jumper is made of wool/wool fibre. Neitz's jumper is a polyester base and has that sheen which lightens the colour somewhat.
