Marc Murphy yet to sign with Blues

G'day fellow Demons Supporters!

Apparently Marc Murphy from Carlton is yet to sign with them for 2009 onwards. Should we chase after him and take him with the prized number 1# in the Pre-Season Draft?

Here's a link to some information about him: http://www.footypost.com.au/carlton/player...ontract-players

I doubt he would leave the Blues, but I still think it's worth chasing him especially as he only about 21 years old and was the number 1# Draft pick a few years ago.

Any thoughts? What would it take to entice him to become a Demons player?

If the Club had a quick chat with his Manager I am sure they could ascertain whether he is considering leaving Carlton.

I doubt he will leave Carlton.

Too many cardboard boxes of which we have too little

Wonder why Carltank have not signed him? Could be he is overseas still on holiday. But if there is "Trouble at mill" i would hope that the MFC would check out all avenues. Would be a great pick up in the PSD $$ permitting. It would be a great time to get him. He is good but not yet a Champion so his Price may be attainable.

lol were no chance

I did say it was highly doubtful.

However, I'm pretty disappointed by all the negative comments.

The way we are talking no wonder nobody wants to play for us!

He firstly has to want leave Carlton.

Oh but we are a sad and sorry lost aren't we?

Rumour is he's only not signed because the club were holding off on his contract (with Murhpy's approval) while they were waiting to see if they got O'Keefe or anyone in trade week.

He was willing to have his contract front or back ended so that they could fit a player like O'Keefe into their salary cap. Him not signing is a greater show of commitment then just immediately signing a contract. It's a mere formality and not even really worth discussing

He won't leave, but part of me would love to offer him some massive amount that he simply can't refuse, Judd like in proportion, leaving Cartlon in the cold.... Sure it might not be great list management but it would be good fun.

....We already lack enough credibility amongst other Clubs and their players without making financially ridiculous offers.

Melbourne here is your chance to nab the best young talent this country has to offer i know Franklin etc etc are still young but I believe there a little older than murphy. Melbourne PLEASE move heaven and Earth to get this young gun! He is awesome, will win a brownlow or two. Lets get back at Carlton for taking Judd. Throw as much cash as we can at murphy and maybe he might leave visyboard god i hate carlton lets stick it right up em!!! GO DEES!

You would have to think that he wouldn't be too happy about a 21 game ruckman coming in and getting more money and commitment from Carltank than they are probably offering him ?

Unless Visy steps in of course.........

Murphy i doubt will want to leave Carlton when they are potentially rising into next years finals contention and beyond

Melbourne are 3 plus seasons behind Carlton IMO

yeah what number should we give him?

AS IF

fcs I feel insulted having read this thread

Why would he not want to play with Judd? It seems everyone else does. Not a chance in Hell that he'll enter the PSD, but even if he does, I wouldn't want to throw the money we saved on Matthew "Jesus" Warnock away just to pick up a player with less potential than him.

It's not going to happen people...

But it's worth inquiring, if for no other reason than to push his price up!

There is NO WAY known he will be leaving Carlton. Carlton "have cap room" don't forget. He will be well looked after at Carlton, and he will sign a nice 3-4 deal no doubt about it.

Even if he wanted to leave Carlton, his asking price is most likely out of our price range.

It is nice to dream, but the truth is the MFC is about as attractive a destination as the war torn middle east. Marc will not be joining us in 09.

LOL

Thanks for the laughs.

CC told me while I was walking to work that we were massively in the hunt for him too, him and Jamie Lynn Spears

Probably asking for too much

Word is his nose is out of joint regarding the amount of money Warnock got.

hardly surprising, given it would've meant quite a large pay cut for himself

  • PREVIEW: Carlton

Good evening, Demon fans and welcome back to the Demonland Podcast ... it’s time to discuss this week’s game against the Blues. Will the Demons celebrate Clayton Oliver’s 200th game with a victory? We have a number of callers waiting on line … Leopold Bloom: Carlton and Melbourne are both out of finals contention with six wins and eleven losses, and are undoubtedly the two most underwhelming and disappointing teams of 2025. Both had high expectations at the start of participating and advancing deep into the finals, but instead, they have consistently underperformed and disappointed themselves and their supporters throughout the year. However, I am inclined to give the Demons the benefit of the doubt, as they have made some progress in addressing their issues after a disastrous start. In contrast, the Blues are struggling across the board and do not appear to be making any notable improvements. They are regressing, and a significant loss is looming on Saturday night. Max Gawn in the ruck will be huge and the Demon midfield have a point to prove after lowering their colours in so many close calls.

  • REPORT: North Melbourne

I suppose that I should apologise for the title of this piece, but the temptation to go with it was far too great. The memory of how North Melbourne tore Melbourne apart at the seams earlier in the season and the way in which it set the scene for the club’s demise so early in the piece has been weighing heavily upon all of us. This game was a must-win from the club’s perspective, and the team’s response was overwhelming. The 36 point win over Alastair Clarkson’s Kangaroos at the MCG on Sunday was indeed — roovenge of the highest order!

  • CASEY: Werribee

The Casey Demons remain in contention for a VFL finals berth following a comprehensive 76-point victory over the Werribee Tigers at Whitten Oval last night. The caveat to the performance is that the once mighty Tigers have been raided of many key players and are now a shadow of the premiership-winning team from last season. The team suffered a blow before the game when veteran Tom McDonald was withdrawn for senior duty to cover for Steven May who is ill.  However, after conceding the first goal of the game, Casey was dominant from ten minutes in until the very end and despite some early errors and inaccuracy, they managed to warm to the task of dismantling the Tigers with precision, particularly after half time when the nominally home side provided them with minimal resistance.
