It just seems that whenever anyone has anything negative to say about Bruce (Y_M aside, as he really is a tool), they are automatically labeled a Bruce-basher, or pulled up on their comments, even if they are not being offensive.

On the other hand, it is completely OK to call Miller a hack, Bell a dud, Bartram a no-hoper and the list goes on.

Oh. :o

I've had negative things to say about Bruce in the past regarding his poor execution regardless of his accumulation of possessions - which may weigh heavily in the Best & Fairest count, and has been well documented in various threads, yet I haven't been pulled up as such.

So please anyone who feels aggravated about my negative comments on Bruce, speak now or forever hold your peace... ;)

sorry pick 4

We on the sidelines know exactly what players are asked to do????

EXPERTS who would give their right !!!!! to even walk onto the MCG.

NO ONE wins a B&F unless they deserve it!!!!

2005 ,Cam leading the Brownlow till Round 8

This year Brock injured.

If Brock is good enough and fit enough and not have injuries he will have his chance.

Top ten finish for the last nine years.!!

Well done Brucey!!!!!!

I like others believe Green and Wheatley were worthy for the Bluey.

Jones is a real concern and I think he was lucky to get the votes he did. I'd like to put him on the table and see what bites we get.

To be honest, I reckon Cam Bruce would be shaking his head in disbelief ! I am not a Bruce basher like many on this forum, but seriously his year was average at best. Green was IMO easily our best player this year. However, there is 1 far more baffling statistic from the night .... How on Earth did Newton get 4 votes???

No, it's disappointing because Bruce had an ordinary year.

In a season where pretty much everyone had a shocker, it would have been nice if a player was rewarded for improvement or leadership. I would have been thrilled for Greeny or even Wheatley had they won the award, but to reward someone who has gone backwards with his disposal and play making, who played just above the average and wasn't particularly brave or strong this year, is just really disappointing.

In such a [censored] season, rewarding players who have gone above and beyond would have been nice. That's why it's fantastic to see Warnock come 4th, because he has improved so much against all the odds. Bruce had some ok games, a couple of great games, and mostly ordinary or below par games. He did nothing spectacular and most of us sitting in the outer felt the same throughout the season.

Would love to know on what criteria Bruce ended up winning it, because IMO Green was far more deserving.

Edit: I don't dislike any of our players (Carroll aside), and my disappointment has more to do with the club than with Bruce himself.

No, he wasn't very brave. He only played a whole season suffering from shin splints. Try doing that Jaded in your netball games. Have you ever suffered the pain associated with this condition? He was one of our top tacklers, but in your eyes, he displayed no guts at all. Admit it Jaded, you DO hate Cam Bruce.

pick 4 isn't it??

yes i'd probably trade bruce for that. but not pick 17. you could certainly do bruce and pick 35

Your a dreamer BB! Or on some hard drugs! Book into rehab ASAP!

Bruce and Pick 17 would'nt even get the deal done! Try more like Davey and Pick 19. Maybe that might not even do it!

But seriousley! Get some help!

Did you read Mono's stats on a comparison of CONTESTED POSSESSIONS between Bruce and Green? If you did you would have to give the edge to Bruce. I don't think Cam would have been too shocked as he was named on the MFC official website some weeks ago as the favourite for this year's B&F. Also won the Melbourne supporters player of the year.

Amen Jaded......

I was honestly disappointed, albeit not particularly surprised, in this result, not because I hate Cam Bruce (in fact I am more than likely to stick up for anyone getting the rounds of the table in here) I don't, but he was, in my humble opinion, not the best this season. I have no doubt that that comment will be misinterpreted as have plenty before me, but Jaded is right his skills have slipped and his leadership (as captain no less) doesn't seem to inspire much confidence.

I also think that Hannabal has a valid point in that this is a victory by default, given as much on the basis of him playing every game (with or without shin splints) and thus getting a lot of possessions. My issue is not his work rate but his execution and for that I unfortunately fall down on the YM side of the Bruce argument (just no with so much vitriol). The really interesting positions are the ones outside of the top five and where some of our more highly fancied players ended up.

In the end congrats to Cameron, but my opinion still holds.

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last

    LIFE SUPPORT by Whispering Jack

With Melbourne’s season hanging on a thread, Saturday night’s game against North Melbourne unfolded like a scene in a hospital emergency department.  The patient presented to the ward in a bad way. Doctors and nurses pumped life-saving medication into his body and, in the ensuing half hour, he responded with blood returning to his cheeks as he stirred back to life. After a slight relapse, the nurses pumped further medication into the bloodstream and the prognosis started looking good as the
