WHADDA WE SING!

Featured Replies

I've always loved listening to the Tigers fans sing.

Oh we're from tiiiiger,....YELLOW AND BLACK...oh we're from tigerrrrrland.

and at the grand final...the hawks fans with

We love our club and we PLAY TO WIN, riding the bumps....etc

both of these little lines are absoluted belted out

i was just thinking back to the days, at the dees games early 00's...the.." as we sing this song to you.. WHADDA WE SING"

used to be loud..not as loud, but loud

i'd love to hear it belted out when we wing games, because it wasn't this year, and it has nothing to do with form- it's just dropped off over the years

i say BRING IT BACK

mate- we've been getting under 20,000 against teams like west coast, port, freo at the g for 10 years. get a grip!

im saying it'd be great if it was louder

queens brithdays- dropped off, i know we didn't win last year, but the year before in 07..was shocking! haha

I don't know about anyone else, but i belt it out as loud as i can get it! :P

There was a thread on Bigfooty not so long ago that gets dug up ever so often...

The vote came in as the Tiges having the best song, followed by the dees. I reckon that's probably fair enough... I hate the Tiges more than any other club, but their song is a corker.

:o

Not when we're winning.

I recall we got over 36000 against West Coast at the G in 05.

That was for 1st versus 2nd don't forget

Just shout it out loud, we don't get to do it often enough.

For those of us who were lucky enough to be at the Freo game this year, I swear if you were outside listening to the noise you would have thought it was a grand final crowd.

I had a bit of a sore throat the next day, strangely enough.

Umm. Did you attend the Grand Final with 100,012?

That was loud.

no no high tower

it was BLOODY LOUD

was great to be part of 100,012.

can't wait till we're there watching our demons in a few years time :). believe it- it will happen

All club songs are song with more aggression when the team is winning than losing. From 2000-2004, you could hear the "WHADDA WE SING!?" clearly. Now, no one cares. Hawks were the same. Tigers are the exception because they just have a kick ass song and need the "Yellow and Black" as they haven't had anything else to cheer for in 20 years.

Absolutely correct Dappa Dan. I once coached a tigers junior league side, and that song is the best team building and group consolidating song there is.

Grand Old Flag is a sentimental tear jerker, but the next best.

This is the song on which the Toiyges is based. Remember it when you next hear them sing their song, will put a whole new perspective on the club and its supporters.....

Well, that's interesting. After seeing her, I suddenly feel like i should go to the bathroom and have a quick "row, row, row."

Picky picky picky.

Freo was a good loud day (at least the second half of the game) and I won't hear otherwise.

Yeah - the crowd noise at the Freo and Brisbane games was surprisingly loud.

Quite right.

:)

The few times we have been able to sing it over the last 2 years, I have always put the hand on the heart and belted out the "Wadda we sing" part and love it.

However, as a side issue and a bit of trivia, which is the only AFL club song not to mention the name of the team in the lyrics?

Of course, the answer is self evident, but nevertheless, it has always made me wonder.

Having said that, the name of the club is mentioned in the second verse, which of course, no-one ever sings. In fact, I would be interested to know how many actually know the words to the second verse.

Don't get me wrong, I love our song, but in cultural terms, I wonder why we don't get to sing about who we actually are.

Cheers

Suzie, I'm definitely with you.

It was quite an amazing and intimate crowd. Both reminded me a lot of the crowd at the P.A. game of '07 (when we were robbed).

Everyone was into it, every decision seemed life changing and everybody could feel it.

After the Brisbane game i couldn't speak for a week, which was bad because Holiday program started the next day and i couldn't welcome any of the kids. Sometimes it would start squeeking, i considered that i had nodes on my vocal chords, then ignored it.

But yeah, the "WHADDA WE SING" certainly got a belting out around where I was. I started screaming for them to keep playing the song because they onlyplayed it twice i think, ended up starting our own version and everyone around joined in.

Great moments, and anyone who says our fans are soft and fickle can fk off.

There might not be many of us, but we've put up with a lot of crap and probably have the same base hardcore supporter group that any team has

45hotgod was that near the players race in the MCC cos the people there sang it after the music stopped

(bromby boys have always been good singers)

i didnt even know our song had a second verse

edit: with the help of google

Oh, the team played fine in the year Thirty-nine,

We're the Demons that no one can lick, lick, lick

And you'll find us there at the final bell

With the spirit of Twenty-six, six, six.

Every heart beats true, for the Red and the Blue,

As we sing this song to you

(what do we sing)

Should old acquaintance be forgot

Keep your eye on the Red and the Blue

Haha yeah that was me man, couldn't speak but belted one out.

We did win house singing when i was there

Haha yeah that was me man, couldn't speak but belted one out.

We did win house singing when i was there

well we didnt do too well this year

it has been a re-building year...we have been trying youth

did pretty well in 2006 though

sounds a bit familier?

  • CASEY: Richmond

The match up of teams competing in our great Aussie game at its second highest level is a rarity for a work day Thursday morning but the blustery conditions that met the players at a windswept Casey Fields was something far more commonplace. They turned the opening stanza between the Casey Demons and a somewhat depleted Richmond VFL into a mess of fumbling unforced errors, spilt marks and wasted opportunities for both sides but they did set up a significant win for the home team which is exactly what transpired on this Anzac Day round opener. Casey opened up strong against the breeze with the first goal to Aidan Johnson, the Tigers quickly responded and the game degenerated into a defensive slog and the teams were level when the first siren sounded.
