If we go by this year's stats alone the margin between Green and Bruce is very small indeed. Info courtesy AFL website.

Cameron Bruce / Brad Green

184 Games 186

22 2008 Games 20

11.1 Kicks per Game 13.6

13.0 Handballs per Game 9.3

24.1 Disposals per Game 22.8

6.7 Marks per Game 7.0

0.6 Goals per Game 1.0

0.6 Behinds per Game 0.6

3.5 Tackles per Game 3.0

0.1 Hit Outs per Game 0.1

3.3 inside 50's per Game 3.4

0.4 Goal assists per Game 0.6

0.9 Frees per Game 0.8

0.6 Frees Against per Game 0.8

$390,800 Dream team Salary $391,300

96.7 Dream Team score per Game 97.4

$461,700 Supercoach Salary $472,700

95.9 Supercoach Score per Game 99.0

So looking at all these, it's Greeny by a whisker for this year's B&F. We'll know soon.

I'm tipping Cameron Bruce, given his stats and the fact that he's the Captain and the only guy who played every game this year. Do you have the stats on contested possessions for the two?

No 'Chook' they have not listed contested possessions which I believe is a very important stat. Don't know why these are not recorded.

Anyone who uses "stats alone" to judge players performances really has no idea.

I expect the top four to consist of Green, Wheatley, Bruce and McLean. That's not my top four but what I expect the top four to be.

In case you are having a go at me Clint I did say, 'IF one goes on stats alone.....'

CP Clg CM 1% for year (you do the math, as they say ;) )

Green

110 49 16 38

Bruce

146 43 10 41

CP= contested possessions

Clg=clangers

CM= contested marks

1%= 1%ers

Looking at those, it's Bruce by a whisker, IMHO.

I'd agree. And the fact that he was named co-captain should seal it for him. I wonder what Yze_Magic thinks about all this.

Green will deservedly win the B and F by a country mile.

if Bruce wins, our club has hit its lowest ebb in its 150 year history.

Accurate voting by the coaches should see him finish 15th-18th.

Top 5

1. Brad Green

2. Colin Sylvia

3. Paul Johnson

4. Cale Morton

5. Brock McLean

Was a 2 horse race between Brock and Green until Brock got injured, so Green should win comfortably IMO.

For Bruce, obviously 14th to 18th is a bit low YM, but IMO he should not finish in the top 5, although he probably will.

Ha, bloody ha,ha. Put Sylvia in the 15-18 spot and you'll be closer. Bruce yourself YM. Sorry, I meant BRACE yourself! You could be in for a disappointing evening my totally BIASED and BLIND one.

MFC is the only club that rewards soft, unskilled players so you are probably right.

Stats hey?

Well ok, on that basis here are some trades the Demons should do using your severe lack of football knowledge.

Send pick 1 to Carlton for Andrew Carazzo

Send pick 17 and Ricky Petterd to West Coast for Matthew Priddis

Send pick 19 and Aaron Davey to Essendon for Jobe Watson

Correct Clint Bizkit, my man.

Stats = objective

opinion = subjective.

Anyone can watch a player and have a different or diverse opinion. I would view a high percentage of similar subjective judgements over stats as a superior analysis of a player. There is still an "X" factor.

But of course, Y_M will remain an "F" factor.

    Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

    A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

    BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

    Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
