24. Russell Robertson [187cm 91kg 24.11.78 - 215 games (10 in 2008) 399 goals (20 in 2008)] - before the seaon even started he was hitting more high notes singing duets on television than with his football.

Robertson had a patchy start to the season often struggling in matches before kicking a lazy two or three in junk time and, despite leading the club's goalkicking at the time, was having very little impact when he suffered his season-ending Achilles injury in Round 10. Next year will almost certainly be his last.

I miss Robbo at his best.

His ability to mark over his head at absolute full tilt is ridiculous. Hope he can get back to some fitness, even young teams need structure. If he can find form he can help straighten us I think

Dont we all !!

There's no prize for understanding Robbo's hey day is behind him.. He does bring that excitement ( onhis day) to the game however more games than other wise in last years ( when he was on park, yet another member of "that" elite group ) were but a shadow of his full ability. Personally I would have let him bark himself hoarse and let him go at last negotiations not because I have anythign agaisnt him... but hes not the player he was..and Im sick and tired of the MFC being teh AFL passenger train.

2009.. well.. if he can earn a spot in the starting line up all well and good...but I have no inkling to pick on sentiment.

In form he's a hard man to cover. Playing above his height ( an understatement really..lol ) he's that joker in the pack ..in more ways than one. Id like him, if fit, to have a serious tilt at repaying the clubs patience..if not take your guitar and enjoy the sunshine somewhere.

p.s RIP #23 whoever you are !! lol

Remember Robbo has been carrying knee injuries for a couple of sesons now. This break may help clear that problem up... therefore a return of pace (that which he had anyway) and leap. The down side is that some don't ever comeback from the type of rupture he had. Conclusion, if he is able to comeback at all he will be a very good addition to our struggling attack.

Like I said, big night!

Anyway, as Mark Twain said, rumours of his demise are grossly exaggerated and the thread for # 23 is now up.

His biggest problem he will face in his comeback are the mental ones, as he relies so much on his speed and spring and the injury he received is a massive part of those strengths he has

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

A couple of intrepid Demonland Trackwatchers headed down to Gosch's Paddock for the midweek Preseason Training Session to bring you the following observations. Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
