Everybody thinks Watts, Rich and Naita are all top three picks. Rich is the only definite top three listed. Freo or West Coast! Naita could possibly be a 5-10 pick. And Watts who is touted No 1 could also slip from that post. Not too far off though! But who knows what the Dee's are thinking? We can wait until Friday 2pm of trade week. We might not have the first pick after all!

Although Lewis has turned into a gun, at the time he was drafted he was no way rated at pick 7... more likely a late first round or 2nd rounder.

He was picked up pick 7 because the hawks saw him as the epitome of the tough, hard midfielder with good kicking skills they needed to implement their game-plan.

Perhaps that is an example of choosing needs before best available?

Yes, he does. There's doubt he likes a contest (read hardness). I'm sick of 'silky skills' at MFC. Must have hardness to go with skills.

No such doubt with Naitanui or Rich, or a number of other skilled players in the draft.

With the WAFL finals just played out, these guys could not get a touch and from all reports looked completely lost when the heat was in the contest and therefore spent alot of time on the bench, especially Rich who was supposed to be the most ready to play AFL of the big 3. Ill have Watts thanks

nah its just my opinion. i just don't think a club would select a player with a top 10 pick based on needs when they think another player is better. If they believe 2 players are equal,than they will look at the needs of a club, but you don't pick on needs with a top 10 pick, let alone a top 5, let alone the top pick. COllingwood tried it by picking up fraser with pick 1 when they could have had pavlich, joel corey etc.

Deledio was a 188cm speedster who could find the footy and had excellent disposal and was labeled the next Judd
