The Draft concessions for GC17

Do you know if they will get the draft concessions in 2009 or 2010. Because if in case we dont (which i hope we do) win more then 4 games next year then i dont wont to be stripped off the right to have priority picks 1 and 2. Thoughts Please?

even if we do all clubs will be disadvantaged by the draft concessions they are receiving... if you finish 9th next year, rather than getting pick 8 you're looking at pick 18... wheras if you finsh last you get pick 4... what's a bigger drop? 1 > 4 or 8 > 18?

I wouldn't be shocked.

I expect us to be more competitive, but think that's likely to be reflected more in our % than in our win/loss.

I have seen enough evidence this year to suggest it would not suprise me in the slightest if we end up with fewer than 5 wins next season. I'm a realist. There needs to be a big improvement for that not to happen. I wouldn't mind picks 1 and 2 in 2009 draft if it happened to occur, for the record.

I could be wrong but I think we'd end up with picks 1 and 5. GC17 get picks 1,2,3,5,etc so we'd get a priority pick GC17 would then have 2,3 and 4 and we'd get 5

There is a problem still with next years draft (i think):

I'm not 100% on this but the age of eligable players is being moved 6 months older, which will reduce the number of players who will be available for the draft.

I don't think it will have a massive impact but it is still not good for teams relying on the picks.

The AFL’s new Gold Coast club will get a massive boost from the 2010 draft, after being awarded the first three picks among nine draft selections.

The team will also have access to one out-of-contract player from each of the AFL’s existing clubs.

The formula was agreed upon by the AFL Commission this week, with seven of the league’s 16 clubs being involved in the sub-committee to devise the plan.

In all, the Gold Coast will have draft picks 1, 2, 3, 5, 7, 9, 11, 13 and 15.

The last-placed team in 2010 will have pick No.4, while the champions will have to be content with selection 25.

No, don't care who they were.

However there's a huge potential to trade for picks in 2010, some players may like to go home or some may like to relocate to warmer climate, (Newton) or some may want to elongate their careers.
