The other criteria enforced by the AFL surround the length of time a jumper must be used and it's colouring. Dark playing strips need a light coloured alternative, as in the case of our silver jumpers and an "alternate" jumper must also be used for a minimum of two years. Unfortunately, the AFL will not allow Red to be the predominant colour. The AFL have determined that the MELBOURNEfc home strip clashes with Brisbane, St Kilda, Essendon, Fremantle and Carlton. This clash occurs mainly due to the dark back of our jumper and those of the clubs listed.

Weak response. I'm guessing this is the stock standard that we'll all get in response to any email about the jumper. I now believe that it is the club that wants the white strip. The statement 'Unfortunately, the AFL will not allow Red to be the predominant colour' is incorrect, as has been mentioned numerous times. I'm sure people have sent the club comparisons between a red alternative strip and all these jumpers. There is no clash. I think our pleas are falling on deaf ears.

hello... glad to see someone else sees this too....It is what the MFC wants...so trying to change their mind won't be easy, but let's keep trying !!!! Keep the emails going , and maybe they'll see the light of day !!!!

this is my reply to the email I sent today....

We appreciate your feedback regarding MELBOURNEfc's uniform. MELBOURNEfc experimented with some colours to create a uniform appearance in the early years of its existence. A distinctive white outfit was used, which led to one of the Club's earliest nicknames - 'Invincible Whites'. This made way for red and blue in the 1870s, but still has an important place in the Melbourne Football Club's earliest history and cultural background.

Clash jumpers are in place to ensure that there is clear differentiation between the teams to benefit the players, the spectators, the officials, and the broadcast and media partners amongst others. A ‘main’ playing uniform and an ‘alternate’ playing uniform are mandatory for all Clubs as stipulated by the AFL.

That Response Looks Like it was Written by the AFL (Adrain Amnderson) That is Pathetic-Keep Fighting We are Red & Blue not Footscray..

As i said in another link- Isn't it Fascinating that Sydney never wear a Clash Strip or white Shorts Hmmmmmm

62 versus 27. It seems Demonlanders want the MFC moniker back at the club

sounds good to me. But how come the MFC poll was 50/50 ??????????????????????????? ridiculous

At the aftermatch the other night (Aside from the Sub-Arctic temperature) the Demon jumper won quite convincingly in the vote.

I hope it's the club skewing it so we can get an all red jumper

I was at the aftermatch function...and the demon jumper only got the vote because the 'demon mascot 'was there. I would love the demon back , but not OPTION A, so that's why I voted option B. We should have had an OPTION C

I realise it probably wasn't most peoples preferred option (and at the time we didn't know the club was going to try and fight to get a red base), but the Demon jumper certainly won.

Speaking of Ronny, he was absolute Gold! Should be used more often

I'm guessing the club did this as a test to see what people thought, but the only way one of those jumpers was going to be announced was if there was an overwhelming response to one of them over the other. Like maybe 80-20 or something. I reckon it would have been something like 55-45, which for the club probably wasn't definitive enough.

Anybody got a pro-forma letter for sending to the club? I live in Canberra and quite like the red jumper with the MFC logo as well.

Thanks.

72-28 in favour of the MFC moniker.

Bring it back MFC!

I have to say, I'm surprised to see only 35 out of 107 go for the red and blue only jumper, suggesting the remaining 72 prefer a white jumper. If that's the case, I don't know if a red and blue clash strip will be on the cards.

Keep in mind..only one of the five choices above is red. A random selction would run at 20%.. yet its actually running at near 1/3 the vote ..or 165 % over its mean and by far the best performer of any selection. In reality all this really means is ..stats can be made to sound like a lot of things !! lol

In the venacular it would be put its a stacked selection with only one of five choices being red..yet its still polling the highest !!

Dont discount Ol' Red just yet ;)

Might be time to poll off between the "A" Demon and the RedBlue Insignia, even though caddy's is the highest polling "White".

The five options are probably muddying the water a bit given the major debate is White v Red. Thoughts?

Even so though, if the general consensus amongst the Demon faithful was that a red jumper was the better choice, I'd expect a much higher percentage. But then again, I'm probably just getting a bit worried because I can't stand the thought of us running out next year in white.

let's all email the club

someone is fibbing along the lines or the AFL suddenly decided to change the rules

in 2007 we wore the red and HAD NO CLASHES WITH ANYONE

at the end of the season, the club emailed us giving an option for a third colour but at the time i thought that it was just some ploy from reebok to start with a fresh idea for a clash jumper

i think yellow and teal? were among the options

i dont think teal is exactly that much of a "light"colour

and then we go with silver which had more of a clash this year than our red option

so we decide to go with a white option

some people have suggested its because of GC17...but no, because i dont think our home jumper would clash with theirs anyway

someone along the lines, be it at melbourne or the AFL, is a stupid [censored] that is either after money or is colour blind

where is sydneys crap strip?

where is collingwoods?

essendons has hardly changed?

geelong dont need to change colours?

wtf is going wrong!!!

can EVERYBODY please email the club and express their thoughts because if they get enough emails, maybe someone somewhere will listen

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the scorching morning heat to bring you the following observations of Wednesday's preseason training session from Gosch's Paddock. HARVEY WALLBANGER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Absent: Salem, Windsor (word is a foot rash going around), Viney, Bowey and Kentfield Train ons: Roy George, no Culley today. MATCH SIM: Friday 7th February 2025

Demonland Trackwatcher Gator ventured down the freeway to bring you his observations from Friday morning's Match Simulation out at Casey Fields. Rehab: Jake Lever and Charlie Spargo running laps.  Lever was running short distances at a fast click as well as having kick to kick with a trainer. He seems unimpeded. Christian Petracca, Kade Chandler, Shane McAdam and Tom Fullarton doing non-contact kicking and handball drills on the adjacent oval.  All moving freely at pace.  I didn’

Demonland Trackwatchers were out in force as the Demons returned to Gosch's Paddock for preseason training on Wednesday morning. GHOSTWRITER'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Kozzie a no show. Tommy Sparrow was here last week in civvies and wearing sunnies. He didn’t train. Today he’s training but he’s wearing goggles so he’s likely got an eye injury. There’s a drill where Selwyn literally lies on top of Tracc, a trainer dribbles the ball towards them and Tracc has to g

THAT WAS THE YEAR THAT WAS: 2024

Whichever way you look at it, the Melbourne Football Club’s 2024 season can only be characterized as the year of its fall from grace. Whispering Jack looks back at the season from hell that was. After its 2021 benchmark premiership triumph, the men’s team still managed top four finishes in the next two seasons but straight sets finals losses consigned them to sixth place in both years. The big fall came in 2024 with a collapse into the bottom six and a 14th placing. At Casey, the 2022 VFL p
