All four short term injuries are being tested this week. Should we play them or give them an extra week to recover?

Short term -

Kyle Cheney (hand) - test

Brad Green (hamstring) - test

Paul Wheatley (calf) - test

Austin Wonaeamirri (general soreness) - test

Out for the rest of the season -

Brock McLean (ankle)

Brent Moloney (shoulder)

David Neitz (neck, retired)

Jared Rivers (abdominals/groin)

Russell Robertson (Achilles)

Rest.

We should now play Weetra and Meesen for the rest of the year and give White, Yze and Holland the last game if they are not in the side by then.

That is proper list management. We should find out if these guys can play!

Injured senior players should now be rested and get right for next pre season.

If fit, all should play, with Cheney at Sandy and the rest for the MFC.

No thanks. If they can't play at Sandy (or Sandy reserves), tell me again why we need to play them at AFL level to see what they've got.

Meesen is contracted for next year, so he can get a run then if you need to see a player at the top level. His form doesn't warrant leap-frogging Jamar, PJ, and White.

Weetra had a run in the NAB Cup and also got a couple of games, didn't do well, and has languished in the Sandy reserves for much of what's been an inconsistent season, even at that level.

Yes, Weetra didn't do much at all, he's goose is cooked.

Brad Miller is out this week with a hamstring injury which was not reported earlier in the week. Ricky Petterd is not in the Sandringham team to play at the weekend. Last week itwas the same thing with Wheatley who was out with a calf injury that wasn't disclosed in the week's injury list. Presumably, these players' injuries happened after the list was issued but this has become such a commonplace occurrence that I'm starting to wonder about our fitness and training set up at the club.

This is one of the first areas the club should review IMO.

    TROUBLE by The Oracle

Situated roughly in Australia's geographic centre, Alice Springs has for many years been a troubled town suffering from intermittent crime waves, particularly among its younger residents. There was a time a little while ago when things were so bad that some even doubted the annual AFL game in the town would proceed.  Now, the hope is that this Sunday’s Melbourne vs Fremantle encounter will bring joy to the residents of the town and that through the sport and the example of the participants,

    GALLANT by KC from Casey

The world “gallant” is not one that is readily acceptable to losing teams in our game of football so when it was used in the context of the Casey Demons’ loss to Sandringham in yesterday’s match at Casey Fields, it left a bitter taste in the mouth.  The Demons went into the game against the St Kilda affiliated Zebras with the advantage of playing on their home turf (not that this has been a major asset in 2024) and with very little else going in their favour. The Saints have close to a full
