easy. get rid of Warnock. his brother will have joined the dees by the time this side takes the field so there would be no more point in playing him.

So you would get rid of M.Warnock because his brother may join the Dees?

Ay curumba!

I can't think of any other reason he's been getting a game

R.Warock is a ruckman. M.Warnock a defender. Wheatley struggles against the bigger forwards for strength, so plays more on a wing or half back flank.

This is my vision that turns Col into a Chris Johnson (of Lions fame) type All-Australian back pocket.

thankyou captain obvious. even with M Warnock out of the side there are 3 tall defenders remaining - not including Wheatley.

Why get rid of Warnock, he's done pretty well lately. he should continue to improve

Well, when 2009 rolls around he will be 25 years old. I don't think he'll ever be better than an average AFL footballer (if he continues to improve). I'm not saying get rid of him. I think his best option will be to play when we need an extra big defender. He's certainly no lock to be a permanent fixture in the 22 in my book.

Fair enough. Whats your opinion on Frawley then? Or I will re-phrase who do you rate more?

UTILITY.

Wheatley is not and never has been a utility. He has always played the majority of his football as a back flanker / wingman

I class him as a Utility IMO.

Wheatley struggles against the bigger forwards for strength, so plays more on a wing or half back flank.

I like chip a lot. going forward, frawls definitely - especially if Riv can't stay on the park. i think if he can add a few kgs, continue to grow in confidence and maintain his pace (which is above AFL standards for players his size) he'll prove to be a very effective player - capable of rebounding using his foot speed.

I'm not sold on Robertson recovering in time for round 1, why would grimes get a game? he hasn't even played sandy ones yet, Buckley no. My team is the best one listed.

Yes. Rivers does remain a bit of a concern. Fingers crossed he doesn't get injured again, gotta feel for him, he'd be feeling very frustrated.

3) S.Valenti has been promising, but Lynden Dunn gets the place instead of him on the bench for mine

Second that

Dunn's been our best tagger and he still doesn’t make the 22

My Team (bearing in mind that it changes all the time & I will forget players

B: M Whelan, C Garland, J Frawley

HB: C Johnson, S Martin, J Rivers

C: B Green, B McLean, A Davey

HF: C Bruce, B Miller, M Bate

F: A Wonaeamirri, M Newton, C Sylvia

R: P Johnson, B Moloney, N Jones

I: C Morton, C Bartram, L Dunn, P Wheatley

Emerg: S Buckley, R Petterd, M Jamar (who I believe are all top 22 players, but I can't fit them in)

This takes into consideration that I believe McDonald, Holland, Yze & White will retire

I also believe that Weetra, Carroll & Bode should get delisted.

Players that miss include Valenti, Grimes & Maric (just), Bell, Robertson (who would replace Newton when fit), Cheney, Meesen, McNamara, Warnock

Like your side. I would chop Bartram, Bruce and Newton though.

Players like Grimes & Maric will suprise you, once you see them play.

I hope they surprise me, I mean they were top 21 picks afterall. I expect nothing less than 2 gamebreakers ;)

Thats a good side actually........Newton has to show signs of improvement before the year is out.

Demonland Trackwatchers braved the sweltering heat to bring you their Preseason Training observations from Gosch's Paddock on Monday morning. SCOOP JUNIOR'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I went down today in what were pretty ordinary conditions - hot and windy. When I got there, they were doing repeat simulations of a stoppage on the wing and then moving the ball inside 50. There seemed to be an emphasis on handballing out of the stoppage, usually there were 3 or 4 handballs to

A few new faces joined our veteran Demonland Trackwatchers on a beautiful morning out at Gosch's Paddock for another Preseason Training Session. BLWNBA'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS I arrived at around 1015 and the squad was already out on the track. The rehab group consisted of XL, McAdam, Melksham, Spargo and Sestan. Lever was also on restricted duties and appeared to be in runners.  The main group was doing end-to-end transition work in a simulated match situation. Ball mov

WAYNE WUSSELL'S PRESEASON TRAINING OBSERVATIONS Rehab: Lever, Spargo, McAdam, Lindsay, Brown Sinnema is excellent by foot and has a decent vertical leap. Windsor is training with the Defenders. Windsor's run won't be lost playing off half back. In 19 games in 2024 he kicked 8 goals as a winger. I see him getting shots at g

Demonland's own Whispering Jack was not in attendance but he kicked off proceedings with the following summary of all the Preseason Training action to date. We’re already a month into the MFC preseason (if you started counting when the younger players in the group began the campaign along with some of the more keen older heads)

BEST OF THE REST by Meggs

Meggs' Review of Melbourne's AFLW Season 9 ... Congratulations first off to the North Melbourne Kangaroos on winning the 2024 AFLW Premiership. Roos Coach Darren Crocker has assembled a team chock-full of competitive and highly skilful players who outclassed the Brisbane Lions in the Grand Final to remain undefeated throughout Season 9. A huge achievement in what was a dominant season by North. For Melbourne fans, the season was unfortunately one of frustration and disappointment
