WATTS ON FIRST?

I know it's an ancient post, but this is what's been on my mind...

Much has been made about the fact we've got 1, 17 and 19 instead of 1, 2 and 19. But given the even-ness of the first 20 picks, we could end up with a gun at pick 19 if we're lucky. If we could pick up the next Kerr there, then missing out on pick two won't seem like it hurt us so much.

We picked a good year to lose the priority I reckon.

Nothing wrong with digging up ancient posts, if you have something on your mind Dappa.

Good point regarding the depth in relation to the picks. It's been widely tipped and discussed that the top 32 players are all worthy of top 16 selections.

All along I have thought Watts will go at 1, but I have begun to change my mind.

Now I think we will go for rich, my thinking is as follows-

1. Just gave Newton a new contract, a forward.

2. Robbo to come back in.

3. PJ to start forward and then into the ruck.

4. Millar as a regular forward.

5. A forward line of Robbo, Newton, Maric.

Aussie, Millar, PJ.

6. Our failure to get Prismal will lead us to pick--------

7. RICH???????

8. Who knows?- I dont but I have a feeling in my water its Richy boy

Certainly is a glowing endorsement.

There has been some queries on his physical presence on the footy field. It must be remembered that Lance Franklin wasn't considered the most phsycially itimidating player on the footy field either, however what he did have going for him was an extreme amount of confidence. Look at him now he is one of the most itimidating players in the AFL because of the aura that sorrounds him, he's bloody good and he knows it. From all reports it sounds like Jack is a very confident young man, there certainly are some similarities.

# 1 Jack Watts

... can I say, "I tipped this"?

Well done WJ. From early August, I think we all had him in the gun. Well, nearly all. Some tried to stir the pot and were persistent with the view a source had us getting Naitanui. Don't want to name any names, Goose, Y_M.

Personally, I was wrapped to get Blease. From the first time I layed eyes on him in the Championships, I wanted him. However, as September and October came around he was a popular pick and I thought for sure he would get picked up between 8-14. As November came around, St.Kilda was tipped to take him.

Then come draft day, Adelaide sprang a surprise and elected to draft Phil Davis, who the Hawks wanted by some reports. The second little surprise was Tom Lynch to StKilda at 13. Blease then slid to 17 after the Hawks settled on a tall in Schoenmakers, due to the Crows snaring their target in Davis.

Sam Blease provides the skill, run & carry the team needs for the game plan. Pace to burn. I'm delighted.

Don't get me wrong, very happy with Watts and Strauss, all the same. As well as our other draftees in Jetta, Bail and Bennell.

An interesting observation today on SEN by St. Kilda draftee Tom Lynch who said that he thought from the start of the season during AIS training camp that Jack Watts was going to be # 1 - and that was well before Watts decided to give up on basketball to concentrate on a footy career. Back then most of us hadn't even heard of him and Naitanui and Rich were the favourites for first selection in the draft.

    FROZEN by Whispering Jack

Who would have thought?    Collingwood had a depleted side with several star players out injured, Max Gawn was in stellar form, Christian Petracca at the top of his game and Simon Goodwin was about to pull off a masterstroke in setting Alex Neal-Bullen onto him to do a fantastic job in subduing the Magpies' best player. Goody had his charges primed to respond robustly to the challenge of turning around their disappointing performance against Fremantle in Alice Springs. And if not that, t

The Demons led from the start to record a 52-point victory. It was their highest score and biggest winning margin by far for the 2024 season. Under cloudy but calm conditions for Casey Fields, the home side, wearing the old Springvale guernsey as a mark of res

    BOILED LOLLIES by The Oracle

In the space of a month Melbourne has gone from chocolates to boiled lollies in terms of its standing as a candidate for the AFL premiership.  The club faces its moment of truth against a badly bruised up Collingwood at the MCG. A win will give it some respite but even then, it won’t be regarded particularly well being against an opponent carrying the burden of an injured playing list. A loss would be a disaster. The Demons have gone from a six/two win/loss ratio and a strong percentag

CLEAN HANDS by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons headed into town and up Sydney Road to take on the lowly Coburg Lions who have been perennial VFL easy beats and sitting on one win for the season. Last year, Casey beat them in a practice match when resting their AFL listed players. That’s how bad they were. Nobody respected them on Saturday and clearly not the Demons who came to the game with 22 players (ten MFC), but whether they came out to play is another matter because for the most part, their intensity was lacking an
