Round 14 and 37 players have played for the MFC. Two rookie promotions one retirement three season ending injuries Five first gamers Morton, Aussie, Valenti, Weetra and Martin. Ruling out rookies Zomer and Spencer we have only 5 players on our list that we haven't seen Grimes, Maric, Cheney, Meesen and McNamara. Will we see any of these this year, you would have to say on form at the moment McNamara is the closest. I don't think we will see Maric or Cheney and Grimes with 8 games to go wouldn't be considered till around round 20 and needs everything to go right.

Of the 5 new players 4 look to have the ability to play a lot of AFL and 1 will struggle to play AFL again. I think at the start of the year you would take unearthing 4 players that look highly capable of playing at the level and have 2 of our top three draft picks still to play. If they work out we could have 6 players for the 2007 drafts that have the potential to be 150-200 game players. I am getting ahead of myself with Martin and Valenti but Morton and Aussie are certain good AFL players.

There are certainly some exciting prospects, but lets not count the chickens already.

The closest on form ALONE, maybe...

They've already said Grimes will play this year, and he got through his limited game time in the ressies looking a class above apparently. In 4 weeks if he's ripe and playing well, I would have thought 2 games or so would be HUGELY beneficial to the kid. He could see what's required for the next year in terms of pace and work ethic. Kind of like the three games Garland played last year.

I reckon Maric, if he got his game together, could easily slot in. It's not like he's 6-6 and a beanpole. He could get 10 touches in a pocket, kick a couple of sausage rolls and the promotion would be vindicated.

As for the others I don't know much about them. Would LOVE to see the kids played en masse, especially after last weekend.

    With Casey Fields basking in sunshine, an enthusiastic throng of young Demons fans formed a guard of honour for the evergreen and much admired 75-gamer Paxy Paxman. As the home team ran out to play, Paxy’s banner promised that the Demons would bounce back from last week’s loss to Brisbane and reign supreme.   Disappointingly, the Kangaroos dominated the match to win by 50 points, but our Paxy certainly did her bit.  She was clearly our best player, sweeping well in defence.

    HORE ON FIRE by Meggs

    The 40,000 seat $319 million redeveloped Kardinia Park Stadium was nowhere near capacity last night but the strong, noisy contingent of Melbourne supporters led by the DeeArmy journeyed to Geelong to witness a high-quality battle between two of the best teams in AFLW.   The Cats entered the arena to the blasting sounds of Zombie Nation and made a hot start kicking the first 2 goals.     The Mighty Demons take on the confident Cats this Saturday night at the recently completed $319 million redeveloped GMHBA Stadium, with the bounce of the ball at 7:15pm.
