MARTIN v BROWN

Featured Replies

i nearly feel sorry for Brown. Martin will kick his proverbial.

This will see if the boy will sink or swim. Sadly, playing on big JB first game is a bit like being asked to swim with a anvil tied to you leg.

We will soon see what this boy is made of. Mark my words, if he shuts down JB, he will win this rounds rising star nominee. That is a very big IF!

i really think this will happen...

the fact is Stef is the biggest out of our key defenders... he's got size on both warnock and Garland... he seems to be the best matchup...

I think Martin will go to Bradshaw, and Warnock will go to Brown. Garland should play on Brennan or Clark (one of them will play forward).

I like it. Give him a taste of what it takes to play with the dawgs.

Hard to tell by the coverage but did Martin spend a fair bit of time on Brennan?

played on Mitch Clark early... not sure, but may have gone to brennan later in the game, especially when Clark was injured...

from what i saw at the game he spent most of his time on number1 dont know his name nor cared who he was

sat behind the goals at punt road so didnt get to see him at the city endbut i thought he did look a likely type and very nervous but i think he will develope nicely who knows later on how far this kid can go

tez, #1 for them is Mitch Clark (?) i think.

I liked Martin today. Yeh he did look nervous, but he moves really well, good pace and a reasonably strong body that will only get stronger. Got a bit of the ball in the first half though i think when the heat was on in the 2nd half, Bailey took him off and 'protected' his debutant. Could be very good... definitely looks a better option than Nathan Carroll already IMO, and his kicking wasn't as bad as first thought.

LOL doggo thanks for that, nearly had a heart attack when he got his first kick wasn't sure what he would do nice little floater to start, loved his mark against brown later in same quater.

i think everyone concerned would be rapt with his first senior game

Lets hope he can develope and what i think he will be a KPP in the future

He went to Mitch Clark when he was forward, but he seemed to move further up the ground later in the game. Seems to be very mobile for someone 198cm and 100kg or thereabouts. A defence with Warnock, Garland, Martin and Rivers sounds good to me.

his mark reminded me of the OX, he was out of postion but ended up taking it .. just like how he moves. :)

He's enormous. The size of a Giraffe, only wider...

Watching Mitch Clark, who is a high draft pick and is highly rated, and then comparing him to Stef I was really excited.

Obviously it's a different job in a VERY different side (No Brown or Bradshaw playing at MFC), but I was encouraged by Stef. Long way to go yet, but he didn't let us down...

A fine debut, especially the first half.

Incredibly quicks hands for a big man.

Loads of potential, very impressive for someone so new to the game.

Although nervous he looks like a footballer. Solid first game and the way the coaches are going he could be very good in the future

his debut was very promising - did no have a lot of touches but it was he did without the ball...

he fumbled once in the first quarter, but then went and made up for his error by locking the ball in...

he has a good leap, so his spoiling was pretty polished...

he lined up on clark and gave him the mother of all hidings.. also brennan at one stage appeared to be opposed to martin and he also got a hiding!!

a good debut and definitely something to work with!!

  • DRAFT: The Next Generation

It was not long after the announcement that Melbourne's former number 1 draft pick Tom Scully was departing the club following 31 games and two relatively unremarkable seasons to join expansion team, the Greater Western Giants, on a six-year contract worth about $6 million, that a parody song based on Adele's hit "Someone Like You" surfaced on social media. The artist expressed lament over Scully's departure in song, culminating in the promise, "Never mind, we'll find someone like you," although I suspect that the undertone of bitterness in this version exceeded that of the original.

  • AFLW REPORT: Brisbane

A steamy Springfield evening set the stage for a blockbuster top-four clash between two AFLW heavyweights. Brisbane, the bookies’ favourites, hosted Melbourne at a heaving Brighton Homes Arena, with 5,022 fans packing in—the biggest crowd for a Melbourne game this season. It was the 11th meeting between these fierce rivals, with the Dees holding a narrow 6–4 edge. But while the Lions brought the chaos and roared loudest, the Demons aren’t done yet.
