Up Themselves...

After this weekend, you wouldn't think they'd be feeling too arrogant, over in Adelaide. But seems they can't help themselves. Just received this email from a 'mate' in Adelaide (don't you hate opening your emails on Mondays after we've lost??):

http://www.news.com.au/adelaidenow/story/0...6-12428,00.html

And there is a great picture to go with it, but I can't get it electronically

Crow

It's a most offensive little article, by Graham Cornes of all people. Here's some snippets:

By any definition, the Melbourne Football Club is a basket case.

The AFL, flush with broadcasting revenues, continues to prop up these ailing clubs and artificially sustain their images and their culture. In the shrinking world of corporate rationalisation, they should long ago have merged, moved or disappeared. Stynes brings a new board, a new direction, a new passion and integrity to the position, but he won't be able to save them.

Melbourne needs more than 150 years of glorified history that is now totally irrelevant to its current circumstances. Both clubs, despite Brayshaw's charisma and Stynes' passion and integrity, are doomed.

As they should be, because Victoria does not deserve to have 10 teams in a truly national competition.

Yeo proposes to move two of the struggling Victorian teams, obviously Melbourne and North Melbourne, to the west coast of the USA, say Los Angeles and San Francisco.

Absolute arrogant crap. Thankfully both Adelaide sides got a dose of humble reality at the weekend. And we can actually thank Port Adelaide for teaching us something about the Victorian game of football:

Port writes manual, 'Playing Cats for Dummies'

PORT ADELAIDE has now provided the competition with the perfect template. For the second time in nine months, Port has shown everyone how not to beat Geelong.

Pricks.

Anyone know whether this waste of space has a contact address?

Wouldn't mind giving this [censored] a history lesson. The only one who is irrelevant is him and his opinions.

Divert the attention away from the fact that one SA club lost the Grand Final by 100 points, while the other has failed miserably to capitalize on their ladder position in the last few seasons. Pathetic.

I was tempted to cut-and-paste your excellent critique ("Divert the attention away from the fact that one SA club lost the Grand Final by 100 points, while the other has failed miserably to capitalize on their ladder position in the last few seasons. Pathetic.") but thought you should have the pleasure.

Give it to Cornes & co!

(and actually it was a 119 points losing margin in the Grand Final)

I find the suggestion by Cornes that we relocate to the west coast of the USA even more insulting than Kennett's Gold Coast. After all everybody knows Kennett's [censored] sense of humour.

I hope lots of Demonlanders give them South Orstralians heaps to think about, you can send them your 'best wishes' by going here:

I doubt very much my comment will get published.

The good people of Adelaide will surely censor my thoughts on the fact that old Cornes gets a public arena to discuss the insane dribbles of his mind, with absolutely no reason or fact

Quite frankly Id deck this C for the impertenance of being so disrepectful to... YEO.. how demeaning to infer of him as a basketcase !! Deplorable. Just shows what a waste of space this excuse for faecal matter is.

    DELUGE by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons overcame their inaccuracy and the wet inhospitable conditions to overrun the lowly Northern Bullants at Genis Steel Oval in Cramer Street, Preston on Saturday. It was an eerie feeling entering the ground that in the past hosted many VFA/VFL greats of the past including the legendary Roy Cazaly. The cold and drizzly rain and the sparse crowd were enough to make one want to escape to the nearby Preston Market and hang out there for the afternoon. In the event, the fans

    INSANITY by Whispering Jack

Somehow, the Melbourne Football Club managed it twice in the course of a week. Coach Simon Goodwin admitted it in his press conference after the loss against the Brisbane Lions in a game where his team held a four goal lead in the third term:   "In reality we went a bit safe. Big occasion, a lot of young players playing. We probably just went into our shell a bit. "There's a bit to unpack in that last quarter … whether we go into our shells a bit late in the game."   Well

    UNBACKABLE by The Oracle

They’re billing the Brisbane Lions as a sleeping giant — the best team outside the top eight —and based on their form this month they’re a definite contender for September AFL action. Which is not exactly the best of news if you happen to be Melbourne, the visiting team this week up at the Gabba.  Even though they are placed ahead of their opponent on the AFL table, and they managed to stave off defeat in their last round victory over North Melbourne, this week’s visitors to the Sunshi

    WILDCARDS by KC from Casey

Casey’s season continued to drift into helplessness on Sunday when they lost another home game by a narrow margin, this time six points, in their Round 13 clash with North Melbourne’s VFL combination. The game was in stunning contrast to their last meeting at the same venue when Casey won the VFL Wildcard Match by 101 points. Back then, their standout players were Brodie Grundy and James Jordon who are starring in the AFL with ladder leaders, the Sydney Swans (it turned out to be their last
