Posting unsubstantiated rumours on this website is strictly forbidden.

Demonland has made the difficult decision to not permit this platform to be used to discuss & debate the off-field issues relating to the Melbourne Football Club including matters currently being litigated between the Club & former Board members, board elections, the issue of illicit drugs in footy, the culture at the club & the personal issues & allegations against some of our players & officials ...

We do not take these issues & this decision lightly & of course we believe that these serious matters affecting the club we love & are so passionate about are worthy of discussion & debate & I wish we could provide a place where these matters can be discussed in a civil & respectful manner.

However these discussions unfortunately invariably devolve into areas that may be defamatory, libelous, spread unsubstantiated rumours & can effect the mental health of those involved. Even discussion & debate of known facts or media reports can lead to finger pointing, blame & personal attacks.

The repercussion is that these discussions can open this website, it’s owners & it’s users to legal action & may result in this website being forced to shutdown.

Our moderating team are all volunteers & cannot moderate the forum 24/7 & as a consequence problematic content that contravenes our rules & standards may go unnoticed for some time before it can be removed.

We reserve the right to delete posts that offend against our above policy & indeed, to ban posters who are repeat offenders or who breach our code of conduct.

WE HAVE BUILT A FANTASTIC ONLINE COMMUNITY AT DEMONLAND OVER THE PAST 23 YEARS & WE WOULD LIKE TO CONTINUE TO BE ABLE TO DISCUSS THE CLUB WE LOVE & ARE SO PASSIONATE ABOUT.

Thank you for your continued support & understanding. Go Dees.

Bode doesn't have it and never will. Guts of an easter egg.

Frawley is just no good. When will you die hards learn? And dont pull to developing [censored]. And don't pull out the "look at Garland" card. I could see in his first couple of games and watching him at Sandy he had something about him. He just wasn't ready for the big time but is now slowly getting there. Frawley looks out of place at any level. Skill not up to standard, can't read the play well, speed and strenght no where near up to scratch. I hope i'm proven wrong but he is looking like another one of CAC's "great decisions".

Frawley is actually quiet athletic and has a decent amount of closing speed, so you're wrong on that account. His skill level isn't as bad as it actually looks, he has a diabolical kicking action but its actually rather effective. He also reads the play well, its just his decisions on when to go when not to go that need improvement.

He needs to work on his strength and decision making is more the issue. Strength can be worked on, as can decision making. With game time and education, he could become a very solid footballer and probably a bloody good defender.

[censored] post. we are not the only club that rated frawley.

he is 18 or 19, and playing as a KPD. how many KPD show any promise before they are 21, 22? and i reckon frawleys shown heaps. he has definitly learnt to be smarter in using his body this season. he has shown he can use his pace. but he is limited, especially with the lack of bulk. and a few times i have seen him get done in a one on one situation, while no other player dropped back to help him (ie bradshaw).

he has done a few things that i quite like. give him time, he is not getting smashed and will only get better.

I'm not sure Frawley has the skills for a running defender, so I think he'll need to be able to bulk up and mind a tall forward.

Too early to be writing him off - or annointing him as a star - though, IMHO.

He's got time on his side, and is in no danger of being delisted.

If Jace Bode gets another game in the senior side this year I will throw up. He was horrible yesterday, at least 3 things he did could of lost the game for us. Always too concious of his man, and cant for the life of him pick up the ball below his knees. Please drop him for buckley or valenti

Damn straight!

I still cant understand why after the dogs game he was brought back in..

Too small, slow, terrible hands..

Might look good at VFL level, but certainly not an AFL player!!

Ive got a bit of faith in Frawley as a shut down defender, I think he will be useful in that role, but when you look at Everitt for the Dogs I think they certainly have the better player, he is just as quick, strong and athletic, but his run and footskills are outstanding. Nathan Brown went pick 10, then Everitt at 11, just a case of we got the third best defende available and he is a bit limited skill wise. One thing to note with defenders is that they do take time, Glass took at least 3 or 4 years to come good and Scarlett was very ordinary in his early years, similar to Frawley - getting out muscled and a non-event offensively. The good thing about him was that he played well in the under 18 championships on a lightning quick crumber in Shane Edwards (now at Tigers) and played well on talls as well. Give him some time!

Bode seemed totally lost during the game. He looked confused about where he should be, who he was on and what he meant to be doing.

Well out of (t)his league.

Moose

You're right Moose, but the role of the coach comes in to play here - if he is instructed clearly as to his role and positional play in all scenarios (i.e. in attack coming out of defence, direct man-marking, transitional phases, stoppages) by the coaching staff and he is still lost, then he does not have the footy brain required for AFL level. If, however, he's not being instructed on these things and is just going on his instincts, then it raises two points - 1. He has only played a handful of AFL games and his decision-making at this level will take time to develop (if it ever does) on its own, if he is not being soundly instructed, and 2. If he's not being instructed on these things, then our coaching staff are inadequate and not being thorough enough in their preparation. I hope it's the former, because that has consequences for just one junior player - if it's the latter, the club is in the sh*t.

By the way, I'm sure some of you know this already, but his name is pronounced "Bo-dee", not "Boad", like all the commentators say it.

If you want first draft pick, you have to play players like Bode, knowing that it will improve him, but knowing that his selection will effect our effectiveness during games, therefore leading to turnovers, therefore missing out on the 4 points.

    MELBOURNE BUSINESS by The Oracle

In days of old, this week’s Thursday night AFL match up between the Demons and the Blues would be framed on the basis of the need to redress the fact that Carlton “stole” last year’s semi final away from Melbourne and with it, their hopes for the premiership.  A hot gospelling coach might point out to his charges that they were the better team on the night in all facets and that poor kicking for goal and a couple of lapses at the death cost them what was rightfully theirs. Moreover, now was

UNDER THE PUMP by KC from Casey

The Casey Demons have been left languishing near the bottom of the VFL table after suffering a 32-point defeat at the hands of stand alone club Williamstown at Casey Fields on Sunday. The Demons suffered a major setback before the game even started when AFL listed players Ben Brown, Marty Hore and Josh Schache were withdrawn from the selected side. Only Schache was confirmed as an injury replacement, the other two held over as possible injury replacements for Melbourne’s Thursday night fixt

THE MEANING OF FOOTY by Whispering Jack

Throughout history various philosophers have grappled with the meaning of life. Aristotle, Aquinas, Kant, Nietzsche, Schopenhauer and a multitude of authors of diverse religious texts all tried. As society became more complex, the question became attached to specific endeavours in life even including sporting pursuits where such questions arose among our game’s commentariat as, “what is the meaning of football”? Melbourne coach Simon Goodwin must be tired of dealing with such a dilemma but,
