Our trumpeter

Recommended Posts

I love the guy. Anyone know who he is?

haha yeah what a legend, its such a good tradition, shame we can't win more often to let him play, it was funny at the carlton game, maybe they knew we weren't gonna win so they made him play before the game haha!

oh and NO, i don't know who he is...

I had moved to the Telstra Dome by the end of the Melbourne game to watch my kid play at half time, but I was listening to the game on TripleM. The trumpeter started up with about 1 minute to go. The commentators made reference to it and you could even hear it in the background.

Why didn't he play on Sunday? It was our home game. I missed him.

he did play... before the game... and with about 40 seconds to go in the game, he declared victory and started up again... he was on the half forward flank near the MCC and where the melbourne members reserve seating is...

if you watch the reply you can hear the crowd clapping in tune to him...

but to be honest, it concerned me a bit, it was like it almost distracted the players, because freo went forward as he started...

Heard him and what a fantastic effort by the unsung hero. Would gladly like to hear the bugle belt that number out when we are assured of a win.

Great stuff and hopefully unique to MFC supporters.

I would love it if we could belt Collingwood easily and he starts up at the 15 minute mark of the last quarter and plays through to the final siren. It would make a nicer serenade for the backs of the black and white filth lurching up the ramp home.

Hey this could be our motivation for the Collingwood game... can someone get the message to the boys, get the trumpeter playing at the 15 minute mark of the final qtr on Queens Birthday!

It's what I'm dreaming of already

The moron started early and everyone was screaming at him to shutup, the [censored] couldn't wait for the attention and as soon as he started playing Freo went forward and should have kicked one. I'd like him alot more if he'd start playing when we'd actually f**king won.

I thought it was premature as well, even though I knew he only does it when 30 seconds is left.

Still worried me.

He sits front row of the MCC, 2nd level, always in a red jacket.

It's a good thing, hopefully it becomes a famous tradition like Joffas golden jacket.

I hear what you're saying, but hey we earned some bragging rights on Sunday!

I think maybe there's a bit of a culture around Melbourne that's too cautious, conservative. We might do better to take a few more risks, throw caution to the winds. I was rapt with the noise and enthusiasm from the supporters on Sunday. The ump's wouldn't have dared to pay a 50-50 holding the ball against us in that last qtr.

So if he wants to play when we've got it won, good on him I think. Maybe after the initial shock, the players might actually use the extra emotion and enthusiasm of the crowd as the trumpet plays in the dying moments to feed off it, boot one more just to get an even bigger roar!

I hope he becomes bigger than that goose Joffa too... :D

    CONSISTENCY by The Oracle

"I think we have got a team that can win a premiership, and if we get in this year, I don't think there is a team that is going to want to play us. This year is not a write-off, I don't concede that. Not at all." — Collingwood President Jeff Browne. I love this sort of optimism from the Magpie President after his club’s eleven goal defeat at the hands of the fast rising Hawks. It’s consistent with the fighting spirit of the club that won last year’s flag.  I only wish I could say the s

    FEARS by Whispering Jack

Melbourne’s worst fears about the absence of Max Gawn were realised when it received a shellacking from Fremantle’s ruckmen Sean Darcy and Luke Jackson who dominated the hit out tally in their game at Optus Stadium on Sunday by a massive 47 to 19. As a result, the 50-point deficit at the end of the game proved to be a loss that was long foreseen that was two years in the making and demonstrated a complete lack of hindsight and planning from the club. To add insult to injury, Jackson was a D

    RAIN CHECK by Whispering Jack

The Frankston Dolphins broke a run of six straight losses against their neighbours, the Casey Demons and kept their hopes for a long-awaited return to the VFL finals alive with a 27 point victory over at Kinetic Stadium. Casey was welcomed to the Peninsula by grey skies, heavy rain and angry seas with threatening white-capped waves whipped up by gale force winds. After a slow start in the opening term when they failed to take advantage of the breeze, it appeared that the Demons had decided
