Love the idea of having Allen. Deadset gun with a dodgy knee. I can't see him moving east. If he wasn't a fan of Simpson he'd be less likely to move now. Besides, we need a first-round mid to hit him lace out (and a ruck and a KPD etc etc). Shades of Ben Brown with a price tag but entering his prime.

Jason Taylor - visionary or overrated
Roger Mellie replied to Deespicable's topic in Melbourne Demons
Great post Deespic! IMV Prendergastly was not overly maligned at all. He was perhaps the biggest recruiting potato of all time. I don't blame him though. He did his best, however, the club, in its wisdom, decided to make a forward scout the head of recruiting. We would have been better served by bringing in a person with experience in recruiting FFS. I think it was another of Schwabb's gems. Perhaps we couldn't attract a decent recruiting manager? I think we also need to factor in the calibre of the MFC as a destination club at the time. We were effectively trying to attract players to the local tip. We had crud facilities, hovered around the bottom of the ladder and had a list going nowhere. -
I love the way he runs out of trouble (which can be seen in the highlights footage above). Don't think he will ever be accused of being stagnant.

The top five teams you despise.
Roger Mellie replied to leave it to deever's topic in Melbourne Demons
1. Collingwood (no explanation required) 2. Carlton (leap-frogged Geelong this year because of their [censored] supporters) 3. Geelong (Chris Scott and Taxpayer Park) 4. Port (The whole team, coach and president give me the Jimmy Brits) 5. Freo - (Peter Bell is a [censored]) -
I'd like to see him take on the game to see what he's got. I think he's got KPD attributes but he's a bit timid or lacking in confidence or something IMV.

Farris-White gets another gig! It'll be interesting to see how he's progressed after a decent stint at the lower level.
-
I'm not sure either, but I'd pay a lot for him!
-
Pass on Silvagni (slow as a wet week), Lobb (see Jaded's post) Finn Callaghan - yes please! Pretty please!
-
Kalani White is a key defender. This may change down the track but don't bank on him being Jeff White Mark II.

Bowey was a late withdrawal with a corky in his back. I'd say his soreness has something to do with that

This^ Would be snapped in two.

Yes, lots to take out of the game: Starting to look like the Clarry of old, Petty clunking marks. If he didn't have the yips we'd be saying he's Back in Town Viney immense, AMW showed a bit The intensity was back Chandler's pressure also huge Great game from JVR The brilliance of Kos River's transition to the midfield as well as his run - brilliant Judd McVee gun

Yes, ANB 'diving for touch' was a shocker. All he had to do was handball over the top or into the shins of McCluggage. Huge brain fade.

TRAINING: Thursday 27th June 2024 (Gabba)

Love your work Lefty! -
I think given JVR has missed a couple of games, then he's the first. Also, MFC or MFC player always comes before another team or player in my book
-
I'd go so far as to say he's an ordinary kick.

Thanks champ! I misread Hore as being available but as they didn't pull anyone out of the Casey game last week, it's highly unlikely a player will come from there unless they want to risk them as a sub. As I posted Tommo out Lever in, with the rest being conceivable but less likely. Your opinion is that it is not. My opinion is that it is. That's why we're all here. Jog on.
-
None of the Caey players will come in on the back of a five-day break unless it's as the sub. My guess is Lever in and Tommo out. I could also see another out with Hunter/Hore in as sub.

I think he's just been accepted into the AFL's "I cut my own hair Club" President - Jeremy McGovern Vice - Rowan Marshall

CASEY: RD 13 vs North Melbourne VFL
Roger Mellie replied to KC from Casey's topic in Melbourne Demons
Let me qualify - I only watch the games on the AFL website and the vision is pretty limited (ie. ordinary) as the camera just follows the footy around. It's hard to get a sense of anything up or downfield. I will leave that observation to tracksiders other than, in a team defence set-up, I don't see it that much, but he has a strong frame and is a good mark. Like Jeffo, he's a developing tall in his second year. -

I'll have a crack at this. I pretty much said exactly the same thing last year. He seems to have all the tools but doesn't impose himself on the game. I don't know if he's too worried about his opponent, still finding his feet, isn't a great reader of the play or lacks confidence, but he just tries to play his role and not much more. For instance, you'd never know he had the wheels he displayed in the grand final sprint because you never see it. If he backed himself and took the game on, you'd probably see a different player. He's more prominent when Tommo's not there but there's not a whole lot of presence yet. I'd love to see him flourish.
