  1. When the coaches go through the game footage with each player as they do, surely May would see himself gobbing off, left, right and centre as he always does and think 'Geez, I look like a prize [censored],' but clearly, he doesn't.
  2. Geez, I watched the first half and yet to see the second, but I'm a bit gobsmacked as the players listed above didn't stretch statistician in the first half - Fritsch, Bowey, Howes! I look forward to the second half (apart from the outcome).
  3. K. White was encouraging. Looked lost to start with but came alive in the last quarter to have a real impact on the game. I look forward to seeing him in about +20kgs, hopefully at the Dees. While he was only rucking against a cramping first gamer in Monteith (who was also very impressive before cramping) and Jackson Shorty Hately, he looked a bit of a natural. Laurie wasn't as impressive as last week but still solid and too good for this level. Brown has a crack and has some speed but his kicking is horrid. Jeffo got better as the game progressed and should earn a call-up very soon. He risks getting pummelled given his lack of physicality but he's proving smart enough to get around that. I worry he won't apply enough pressure which makes it hard to have him and Fritta in the same forward line. Sharp was largely unsighted which was disappointing. While he buzzes around at senior level, it's largely ineffectual. Adams was well-beaten, but took some nice marks. Kentfield took some excellent grabs but really doesn't find much of the pill. That may come with getting comfy in the backline. He's also a little slow. Verrall had a great game and started to dominate the ruck contest as the game progressed. I'm not convinced he has the height to ruck at AFL level or play any other position but he's improved hugely under Jamar. Woey's looked better the last couple of weeks. Hitting more targets and playing with a bit of confidence. Culley did some nice things but disposal was bog ordinary. Mentha zipped in and out of the play but is definitely growing his game and has some top-notch skills. I look forward to his continued development.

  5. At AFL level? Most of his games were as the sub.
  6. The AFL run the VFL. They are responsible for its demise.
  7. I wouldn't mind seeing Laurie come in to put a hard tag on Neale - play the Viney role. I think he's had his papers stamped though.
  8. I wouldn't be blown away if it was Geelong instigating this [censored].
  9. I watched a little of On the Couch last night (I think it was ONC) and they highlighted that Sicily was out of form. So if he's playing poorly and loses the plot - double bonus!
  10. He's had two games back at Casey and done less than squat. I don't mind the notion of giving him a go, but not on the back of those performances.

  12. Assuming we don't have an early first round pick, I'd like Louis Emmet: Aussie Rules Rookie Me Central2025 AFL Draft | Race to #1: Louis EmmettOakleigh Chargers ruck Louis Emmett is potentially the best key position prospect of this year's draft, but could he also be the best overall?
  13. I hope the Hawk's new training base has to be reclaimed for the SRL.
  14. I agree. His ruck work has improved a lot this year - probably due to Jamar's coaching. I was impressed with him in his first practice game in season one and thought we were onto something. Now, not so much. I would be very happy if he reached O'Brien's level. He has no real standout features which you need with an undersized ruckman, other than his follow-up after the ruck contest. If he was fast, agile, had great endurance and/or took a great grab I'd be happy, but he's average or below in all those areas. Has improved a lot this year though and is still a kid.

  16. Maybe we don't lobby at all. Take last year when we lost Gus with his early retirement and we couldn't replace him on the list because it was after the cut-off date. This year we also lost AMW. I suspect when Carlton lost Jagga Smith, they kicked up a huge stink resulting in the AFL doing a backflip on the rules so we could add Culley after the cut-off date. Maybe we kicked up a stink, but if the previous year is anything to go on, we either didn't or were ignored.
  17. I agree. My guess is Petracca, Lever, Sparrow, Spargo, Chandler and maybe JVR. Are you able to elaborate @Dannyz ?
  18. That rings a bell now that I think of it - It's something like if the country's first language is English, it's not an eligible country. I think Samoa has English listed as one of its two (?) languages, although having been there, it's not the first language spoken - Samoan is - fancy that!
  19. It's something to do with him being of Samoan heritage. I don't think it's on the AFL NGA list of countries ([censored] knows why). Eg. Andy Moniz-Wakefield is from SE Asia and qualifies, but Tarion doesn't because he's Asian Pacific or something. You'd think the AFL would be all over potential NGAs from Rugby League heartlands. Ah-mu is in our Academy too.
  20. No there's a leadership group. They just don't advertise who's on it. I'd go so far as to say it's almost a trade secret.
  21. Not 100% sure but I think Chandler is in the leadership group.
  22. Totally agree. May's kicks to the pocket don't end well. He's so easy to set up against. It invites huge pressure so I'd be happy if he was banned from taking kick-ins unless it was on a fast break. Brilliant win for the boys!
  23. It was Kentfield's first game back and first game as a KPD. He's a mile off being ready or match-fit, but took some nice grabs.
