Not wanting to lend credence to the original rumour but Bailey reminds me a little of Blight when he took over at the Crows. He got rid of the trouble makers and players who thought they were bigger than the club (eg. MacDermott). He also put an end to the players only lounge or whatever it was and no doubt told a few home truths. The rest is history and I hope we are heading down the same path (although I'm not sure we have quite the same cattle).

I taped the game too BD. Have a look at the start of the game at White and Robbo. Their demeanor suggested the game was already lost. It makes my red and blue blood boil!

Meesen = White men cant jump

In: Bartram, Rivers, Dunn, Sylvia, Whelan, Bate Out: Garland, Yze, Robbo, Morton (will be a good player if he isn't snapped in half), Miller, Weetra or Wheatley White starts on the bench with Petterd, Green and Weetra/Wheately Whelan to get a lot of bench time Whelan Carroll Bartram Bruce Rivers Bell Moloney McLean Buckley Bate Dunn Sylvia Newton Neitz Davey Johnson Jones Junior
-
Did Dunn play?
-
My guess at a line up: Wheatley Carroll Petterd Yze Miller Bell Buckley Mclean Davey/Green Bruce Newton Davey/Green Robbo Nietz Weetra R: White Junior Jones Inter: Johnson (but would not be surprised if Jamar gets the nod) Moloney Garland Bode (Bode ahead of Frawley because otherwise the bench is too tall) I dont like the line-up and am generally trying to group the backs mids and forwards. Not sure where Bruce will play and I hope I'm wrong

Haven't seen the footage yet and I assume he is getting another year because of all the injuries. I suppose it's also quite possible that they wanted to keep one coach from 2007 rather than having an entirely new coaching panel.

I'm staggered at all the Williams bashing. Last year, the fit midfielders he had at his disposal were Junior, Godfrey and Jones. Exactly what miracles was everyone expecting?

Team Collingwood Carlton Richmond Essendon Adelaide Supporters: Adelaide - knobs Hawthorn St Kilda Collingwood Toiges * Special mention to the doggies for having a screeching hag behind me last time we played them, and for that moronic woofing Teams where it is necessary to change channels: Swans (boring) Adelaide (ditto) Richmond (not pleasant viewing) Collingwood (monotonous regularity) Carlton (see Richmond)

When is the NAB cup squad announced?
Roger Mellie replied to Bang Bang Bang's topic in Melbourne Demons
Just leave out the injured and there you have the squad - minus the odd rookie! -
DB wanted a 1st round pick for Miller. Swans wouldn't buy it unfortunately. Now back to the back line: Who do you put on Hawkins as he is most likely to be at FF rotating with Mad Mooney at CHF. I would chuck Martin in the deep end. He's the only one who can match him for size (Hawkins is 197cm). Fortunately Carroll wont be available for him to kick a bag on again. Frawley is also an option and Holland as last resort.

Why are you talking this kid up as a superstar? You base your assessment on one poster saying he was training well for a rookie and one decent performance in a practice match. It hardly justifies the expectation you are dumping on him. Let the kid develop and if he does well - that's fantastic. Yes Davey did have a lot more hype as 'the excitement machine.' Austin is not necessarily in the same mold as Davey (personality wise). He's just a rookie having a red hot crack and good luck to him

Set to miss the first 2 PRESEASON games

Agree DeeMfc - they can mix it up a bit - baseball cap, scarf, trident (with which to spear pie, toig, blue and bummer supporters with)

Melbournefc's approach to Conditioning
Roger Mellie replied to Spin-it-to-Goodwin-it's topic in Melbourne Demons
BB went to extraordinary lengths to tailer a program to meet the requirements of DB's (evolving) game plan and address the deficiencies of last year. They had plenty of time to do it to. The back to basics kicking and handballing drills smacks of Chris Connolly. He did that at Freo. -
What the hell: B & F: Jones (would like to say McLean but am suspect about his injury propensity and ability to shake a tag) Team Player: Yze (a reinvention and in keeping with the leadership gig) Clubman: Holland (exits on a high note) Most improved: Dunne Most Consistent: Sylvia Best First Year Player: Meeson or Grimes Goals: Nietz (injury free and flying) Sandy Votes: Martin/Valenti A lot of dreaming in there too
-
Greatly appreciate the list you've put together and the work you've put into it. You will be sorely missed and impossible to replace. Unfortunately I cant wish you success with the toiges and am confident Terry will give you the shits! Cheers

Given this is a forum where you lob in with your opinion here's mine: It's a [censored] design and looks like it was knocked up in about 10 mins by a hack like me. I have no problem with the third colour but there is no Melbourne in this strip. We may as well maximise our 150 year exposure and have it worked into the yoke or something.

Just watched the ABC news (7pm Melb) where they claimed the drug found was 'thought' to be valium and that he didn't have a prescription. Also stated Chick had cocaine and cannabis but was released without charge. This is bizarre!

If Yze hears the slightest footstep he kicks the ball off the ground or throws it on the boot any which ways. It drives me nuts, particularly when he has time and space to deliver the footy. If he tries this on under Bailey, I would expect him to be the most expensive Sandy player running around (looking over his shoulder).

Demonland Player of The Year - Round 18
Roger Mellie replied to dees_rule_4eva's topic in Melbourne Demons
For me Jones has had a solid year. Aside from Jones, I don't think any of them has had a good year. How sad is that? -
Our tackling is crap. It's either round the waist (leaving the opponent's arms free) or a one armed tackle (uncommitted). The number that stick or hurt are laughable - about 5-10%. I loved it when Brock slung Kirk into the deck in the opening seconds of the game. That's what we need!!!
