CLINT BARTRAM, THIS IS YOUR LIFE - SO FAR
Roger Mellie replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Excluding Clint, the ladies and the spunk (apparently Mick) who are all the crooks in the photo? -
At least we wont go into the game (yet again) presuming a win

I thought there were plenty of positives too: Jones showed plenty Bate had a great game, with scope for a truck load of improvement Nietz gave a target and, apart from being robbed, made an impact when not expected Johnson, in the limited game time found the footy. Rucking needs work though Sylvia is starting to look like he he belongs and with luck, there might be a bit of magic down the track Yze laid some tackles Petterd - love his attitude, aggression and work ethic TJ had a better game Bell, did his job and looks better and better with each game Brown's attack was inspiring Rivers is still a gun Godders shut out Burgoyne White found the footy, but needs to move it Warnock did a couple of nice things and one horrible thing. Great goal Carroll had a much improved game The boys again had a dip. The outcome was shattering, dodgy umpiring and all, but they came to play and we're moving forward.

I think there has been a marked improvement on last year. He has much better awareness and maturity. I hope his groin grief is overcome so we can see if he is midfield material
-
Davey should be fine. Not a patch on what Goodes did and in play. The Pickett tackle should not even be looked at. Cornes hit his head against the ground FFS.

You've got Garland on the bench and in the outs. Ward - apart from being ordinary, is injured Godfrey on the wing is scarey
-
Jamar - Back to Sandy (permanently) Petterd - well done son Garland - not quite yet
-
Is Weetra injured again?
-
Is Liddell (in the reserves) Chad's brother?
-
+ve our first win last year was a slog against the swans (if I recall correctly) Paul WIlliams will give us excellent insight into the swannies game plan if we improve on last week, who knows I may be in a time warp, but thought Buchanan was injured??? Jolly is still crap looking forward to seeing the first gamers -ve we'll get murdered in the midfield which will make it hard for the backline to stand up we're still slow the less said the better

Exactly WHO are the MFC selectors?
Roger Mellie replied to Bobby McKenzie's topic in Melbourne Demons
Selection Committee = Daniher, P Williams, Riley and Curran. Danners has the final say. -
The problem is (just like last year) - we have a good preseason and expect to do well. - we forget (AGAIN) the level of hard work and commitment that is required and assume it will all happen - we wax lyrical about the classy, skilled players we have on the list - we then wonder why we are the turnover kings when we have Ward, Brown, Godfrey, Bruce (yes Bruce) and Miller in the side (amongst others) - we get murdered in the middle, murdered in the ruck - we panic and cough it up - we give away undisciplined frees - 6 GOALS TO HAWKS FROM FREES ALONE............................Helloooo! The most depressing thing is, if our list played like Brisbane, we would be the team to beat, premiership contenders!
-
I must have been at a different game than most of you: Bruce - a liability today Bell - solid effort today Miller - better show today Bate - half paced butter-fingers Godfrey - battled on typically Ward - His opponent was? Jamar - slow reaction time Jamar - misses the boat When we were down by 6 goals, the only player running and tackling hard was TJ
-
Out: McLean (inj) Miller, Davey, Jamar, Bartram (underdone), Ward, Bell, Yze, Bate In: Rivers, Pickett ummm

I've got no problems with backwards handball so long as the player is NOT stationary/flat-footed/clueless about the game play
-
He may be a beautiful kick, but how does a skirt like Aaron Fiora run around on his own all night.

I'm nervous about Holland. Gehrig dacked him last game (final) but fortunately we could switch him on to peg leg Hamill. No Hamill, no slow codgers...who does he play on????? Kosi's too fast but Holland would be competitive one out. Blake too mobile? Clarke will stay in the ruck, and Rix off the bench, will be too busy getting a belting by White/Jamar. I dont like Miller down back (or forward for that matter) The drive from the backline looks to come from wayward Ward, Whelan (champ), Bell the Worrier/Warrior and the occasional line breaker from lollipops Carroll. The backline makes me nervous. The midfield, forward line (apart from Robbo at CHF - although doubt it will stick), interchange bench and the saints line up, on the other hand, makes me hugely excited! Go Demons

I'm not satisfied you did enough! It's not like it's a total fire ban or anything.

Many thanks for the reports. Can we have some info on player positions eg. Was Dunn in the same team as Miller and if so where? Also CJ? Did Brown play on the ball? Bizz on HBF? The newbies? Cheers!

I find Bode puzzling. He came to the club as rated to be picked in the draft (reasonably early...30s?) and with a rep as a state level 200m runner. He loooked hopeless in the NAB cup last year, making it understandable why he was overlooked. After a long season he makes a bit of progress and gets some gigs in the Sandy ones toward year's end (like Buckley). I then read he runs like a crab and later is in BB's project group along with Dunn et al to improve their running techniques and ultimately speed and mobility. It's quite odd. Nevertheless he's got another year to develop and improve so good luck to him. The rookie list is giving him the time he obviously needs.... he's certainly got his work cut out for him.

I'm more disturbed by Joffa being described as an 'icon' FFS
