WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAYDEN HUNT
Young Dee replied to a topic in Melbourne Demons
Maybe Roos can start his own Melbourne Academy after we appoint the successor and he can develop Smokies like this. -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - JAY KENNEDY-HARRIS

This was my favourite selection of last night. Think he will be a good one - a hard at it/defensive Jamie Bennell (what I always wanted). Don't think he will take to long to slot into the team and like that he can play midfield. Is it just me or does he look like Christensen? -
WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - CHRISTIAN SALEM

Wasn't Freeman the safer bet? Was beginning to get a soft spot for Freeman but oh well. -
As soon as I saw 29 years of age I stopped reading.Only if he could replace one of Byrnes, Pedersen or maybe Nicho (possible).
-
Given that the Suns and Giants have to begin cutting down their lists we might be able to pick up a few youngsters that have flown under the radar (due to injury or just being on such talent packed list). Wouldn't mind delisting Nicho for someone with a grain of potential like Weller.

As long as he is nothing like Cam Pedersen.

Who would you like to see "Rip it up" in 2014
Young Dee replied to GrandOld's topic in Melbourne Demons
I don't care if he becomes a leader or not all I want from him is some desire. A little pinch of Jack Viney and you could have a great player but then again you could say that for any player. -

We might need to invest in a shredder so we can do Pedersen's and Byrnes contracts at the same time. -

James Strauss We need a good kick and decision maker in the backline. He also has really good speed - perfect rebounding defender. -
This might have already been posted somewhere but I was confused when Misson said this in his injuries update: “Mitch, in his own words, hasn’t been in such good shape at the beginning of November in his whole career, so we’re really pleased,” he said. “He’s over his foot issues, so now it’s about getting conditioning in, without overdoing it." ??? what does he mean by that? Anyone? Is he talking about body muscle because I assume he is not talking about his fitness/cardio.

Viv Michie?

RD 1 2014 - v St. Kilda @ Etihad Saturday Night
Young Dee replied to demonkeaney's topic in Melbourne Demons
Looks good BH. I have always been skeptical of Jones and Terlich (maybe unfairly but they are 25) Don't know if pick 9 will be playing round 1 though also not sure about Blease. I think Strauss will really come on under Roos - maybe Cross can take pick 9's spot and Strauss takes Cross' spot. (would be nice to have a good kick/play maker down back). -
I am trying to not put expectations on this kid but its really hard. The videos didn't help.

Taggert, Magner, Stark delisted; Clisby promoted
Young Dee replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
His 2009 stats certainly suggest that he was playing forward: http://www.footywire.com/afl/footy/pg-melbourne-demons--neville-jetta?year=2009&fantasy=y Where did this argument begin? -
Do we really need another thread on this. Cale's footy career is dead let him rest in peace.

Yer - makes me sick to think that they can cheat - get caught and then go and hide in their multi million dollar "High performance centre". Equality and integrity obviously mean something different in Demetriou's vocabulary.
-
Agreed - first thought after seeing the post was we have a shortage/issue with the ruck department. Spencer I don't see as AFL quality. Also - no small forward. We could look at Jeremy Laidler as a depth backman or he could take Dunn's spot and Dunn becomes the depth player..

I wouldn't mind giving a young guy a shot: Maverick Weller Age: 21 Career games: 32 After showing promise in his first two years on the Gold Coast, the nuggety midfielder had an ordinary season in 2013, managing only four senior games. His best performance came in round 23, when he racked up 27 disposals, but that wasn't enough to save him from the axe. Said on radio this week he had spoken to several Melbourne-based clubs, with St Kilda his preferred destination. Tom Ledger Age: 21 Career games: 8 The West Australian midfielder delisted himself from St Kilda after being told by coach Scott Watters in the lead-up to the Gillette Trade Period that he was only a 50-50 chance to hold his place for next year. Has shown signs in his brief career to date, and will be hoping to convince a club that he can thrive with a change of scenery. Alex Forster Age: 20 Career games: 1 An All Australian at under-18 level, Forster's early career with Fremantle was hindered by hip surgery. A versatile mid-sized defender, he managed one senior game in 2013, but could not establish himself in Ross Lyon's team. After being delisted, the South Australian cancelled a planned holiday to Bali in order to focus on his fitness in the hope of winning a second chance. or Jeremy Laidler Age: 24 Career games: 26 Played some good football in defence for Carlton after transferring from Geelong at the end of 2010, but found himself on the outer with new coach Mick Malthouse this season. Asked by Malthouse to play as a forward in the VFL in a bid to win his senior spot back, Laidler struggled to find peak form. Removed himself from the Blues' list at the end of the season, and will look to find a new club and return to his more familiar defensive role. I like the sound of Maverick Weller and Alex Forster. Jeremy Laidler - could be the tall depth defender that a lot of people are asking for.

Good page on the AFL website outlining the best delisted free agents: http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-30/looking-for-a-new-home Anyone see someone worth getting?
-
Agreed - we really need to get some confidence and momentum. If its a team like the Saints its a must win but if its a good team we must stay close and never drop our heads.

Taggert, Magner, Stark delisted; Clisby promoted
Young Dee replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agreed - we haven't lost anyone significant. Taggert is the only one that raised my eyebrows. However - If you are going to start using the "attributes" excuse for Jetta though then same applies for Taggert (only Taggert hadn't had as long to prove himself). Happy to keep Jetta though - just wish Taggert was kept ahead of Nicho but happy with all other changes to the list. So this leaves us with: Pedersen - have to wait another 2 years Nicho - might still be cut if OOC Bail - I rather him than Nicho but it will come down to his health Byrnes - I think 1 year left? -

Yer - I was just being emotional - although Michie did have like 3 years didn't he? -

Young Dee replied to titan_uranus's topic in Melbourne Demons
Agreed - very disappointed with the Taggert decision. Over Nicho and Jetta?Maybe there was something behind the scenes like Gysberts (but a tall, big bodied good kicking midfielder who has been very unlucky with injury - defeats the purpose of getting Viv Michie) Anyway - I hope we still get rid of Nicho - for a psd selection (maybe ruckman). Hope we get Taggert as a rookie. Jetta could play as our small forward for now given that we don't really have one. Nicholson must be blackmailing the club - I have no idea how he got on an AFL list. -
Every player thread needs a highlights package: Could be an alright medium-tall forward depth player but as nice as highlight packages are - don't get sucked in. The first thing that I was looking for was agility - after deciding to sign Flat Footed Pedersen for 3 years. He seems very agile and at 192cm I wouldn't call him a tall forward he plays well at ground level - and is more a medium/tall (Brad Green). Just make sure you don't offer him three years.

Haha - its worth going to the Essendon website just to see their membership tally (2,547)......... but no wait there is more a "High performance centre debt" demolition tally of $5,000 000.
