  1. That actually looks like a nice line up apart from Dawes, Clark, Garland and Gawn missing. (hope Dawes, Gawn and Kent play for Casey) Great to see Viney back! Would love to see Strauss in the final team (might mean resting Bail or Georgiou tho). Pedersen, Spencer and Fitzy will need to play out of their skins if we want to be a chance.
  2. He seems like a very family orientated person and I think we can all agree that being a coach would be an extremely stressful and demanding job (Neeld). I think after 2-3 years money will not really be a big draw card (he is already set up and could easily retire and spend time with his family). If after 2-3 years he is still loving it and we are within a 2 year premiership window then I could see him considering staying on (probably under an advisory role - less demanding).
  3. Disappointing new re Garland: seems like he might not be back till round 4 or 5 Garland set for early season return http://www.melbournefc.com.au/news/2014-03-06/garland-set-for-early-season-return
  4. Whats happening with Kent? He can take Byrnes spot. He has gone under the radar this preseason - he is now fully fit I think. He showed a lot last year - if he is being moulded for a midfield position he might find himself at Casey a bit this year (that might not be a bad thing)
  5. Isn't Ling a little raw in the coaching department? If that was the case then Roos would need to stay on for 3 years and maybe 1 year under Ling (advisor)
  6. This might help some people relax. All good things take time! Can't wait for the Clark, Dawes and Hogan trio to wreak havoc! Throw in JKH and Howe and every defence will dread playing us.
  7. Hopefully we can get Paul Roos loving his footy/the club/Melbourne because then PJ can start nagging him to stay on for 3 years and then take on an advisory role for the new coach (like Neil Craig). That way Roos can step out of the spot light a little (spend time with family) but still guide this club to a grand final.
  8. That's what we have been hearing for the last 7 years - after being smashed by over 100 points you would have to lisen to the players BS: "We learnt a lot tonight.....". Surely the players heads must be about to explode due to the amount they have learnt over the last 7 years. Call me stupid but I actually kind of believe them this time (in a way that a women would forgive their abusive drunken husband). I don't know why I bother.
  9. I get what your saying but surely we can make some exceptions (Essendon and Collingwood fans?) Take a seat Joffa!
  10. I am hoping he does play against the Hawks as I think he will be an absoulte gun this year (provided he stays on the park). As Mahoney said on the MFC website the Hawks game is followed by the Casey match so some players like Viney, Dawes and Gawn may be able to just play 1 or 2 quarters for Casey (if not up for the Hawks game). I think all three will be a good chance for the Hawks game - I don;t know if we still have subs but if so they could be used on these three.
  11. He averaged around 22-25 disposals at Casey last year. His problem is the transition to AFL.
  12. Agreed the kid has had a very unlucky run with Injuries (broken leg/several shoulder problems).Watts and Morton have been given plenty of time without injury. For me every young player has a clean slate under Roos .
  13. I have always thought this - with mature age recruits what you see is what you get (Magner, M Jones, Terlich - have little room to improve - and at +25yrs are supposedly at their peak). I expect Jones to be pushed out of the side this year (why I was astounded we game him a long contract last year... I think) as for Terlich - he has a chance because of his aggression but Grimes is in front (due to decsion making). I think you only need one of a grimes/Terlich kind - combined with our 3 to 4 talls (Frawley, Garland, Mcdonald and Dunn) we only need a mid-sized/quick defender with good kicking skills (Strauss type?). Plus throw in a developing Clisby. Never really been a fan of mature age recruits (I was not keen on the Georgiou selection). Even if Jones and Terlich are pushed out of the team they would have served their purpose and can still be used as depth.
  14. Agreed - and it seems far from over. Seems like he has taken a sensible approach. (not like he has been skipping training or partying all night... right?) He has plenty of time to get his head straight - and everyone deserves second chance.
  15. I think he has been a steady improver for a long time. It has just taken a little time for people to catch on. Some people still see him as the Dunn of 2010.
  16. I think I would rather Jetta then Byrnes but then again players always seem to turn it on against their old team. Suprised to see Hunt/Barry but then again it is just nab cup. Would have liked to have seen Viney, Gawn, Jamar, Dawes, Garland and Clark but oh well - we have a pretty strong team. Disappointed Strauss did not get another run. I think some people need to take a little step back - yes we beat a pathetic richmond last week but we are playing Geelong and they don't do pathetic. Will be happy if we stick to our structures and show some desperation - anything within 30pts will be a win. Looking forward to seeing how Jack Watts and Hogan play!
  17. I thnk you should at least let Georgiou play another game (even nab cup) before coming to any conclusions. I have never been a huge fan of mature age recruits (not like a young draftee where the sky is the limit). Don't forget - for a long time we thought Magner was a gem. Wait for the derogatories to start lining up ('he is to slow'.... 'Nicholson is a better kick'.... 'he has no tank'... etc.)
  18. Jesus - can we please put the photograpghy thing to bed. It's a hobby get over it! would you rather him taking photos or out at night clubs. He is in the leadership group for a reason. Mitch is doing everything he can and if that turns out to not be enough (I think he will be fine) then I will still hold the door for him on his way out.
  19. Running laps is better than boxing on the boundaryhttp://www.melbournefc.com.au/video/2014-02-24/dave-misson-rd2-nab-challenge-update
  20. Would have to run that by PJ first - I don't think he would allow it!He has his eyes set on "being in the black".
  21. I agree with most that Clark won't be rucking much this year (lack of fitness/injury concern). Longterm I would like Clark to just play stints in the ruck (30%) and while Clark rucks our no.1 ruck rests at FF (Gawn). Clark is so dangerous up forward (on another level compared to Dawes/Fitzy/Hogan). Obviously if we are really struggling to get the ball forward of centre or Dawes/hogan/Fitz are killing it then Clark could go into the ruck. I think we should still draft another 1-2 ruckman this year as I don't see Jamar or spencer as premiership players. We can always let the less promising one go after 2 years. I hope to see Gawn take the no.1 ruck role but as others have said he needs to improve his tank, use his height in the ruck and improve his tap work.
  22. That must be how you got the nickname Chook
  23. Tapscott injures knee, Watts stars Tappy - 2 weeks (damn but don't see him in the 22 this year anyway - still would like him to have the chance) Doesn't mention Dawes injury so lets hope he is alright. Hoping Dawes, Jamar, Fitzy, Watts and Viney play Geelong.
  24. Can follow on MFC twitter or through the mfc website (twitter section) - Spencer. V King start the centre bounce in the intra-club clash at Gosch's Paddock - Several Casey players are playing today to make up numbers for the intra-club - Jack Fitzpatrick takes a nice grab on the lead, but misses for goal in the windy conditions - Some match ups: Georgiou is playing on Hogan, Nicholson on Blease and McDonald on Fitzpatrick - Maxy Gawn marks nicely on the lead and kicks truly - Luke Tapscott hobbles from the ground - Christian Salem shows some class and kicks a goal - Christian Salem takes a fine sliding mark in the pocket at the Monash Fwy end and then slots a classy goal - impressive! - Chris Dawes repeats Christian Salem's effort with a sliding mark in the pocket, before converting - fine effort - Fitzy marks in the opposite pocket to Salem and Dawes and snaps a goal. Some good signs up forward. - Jack Trengove takes a nice mark in the pocket and kicks a fine goal just before the end of the term
  25. Need to invest in human cloning I think.
