  1. It shouldn't take to much effort to explain to him that it would be kind of stupid to jump of a 5 star cruiser onto a sinking refugee boat. We are no 5 star cruiser but at least we are floating.
  2. How about we renovate the gym that should do it.
  3. I like it - any room for Trengove though? Would be a bit harsh. Cross can keep the spot worm for VIney.
  4. I don't mind having Frawley in the leadership group but is he vice captain quality? I can't really say I know him very well but he seems a bit laid back for a VC role.
  5. Well in the mean time you can get to know Dawesy! (great bloke) Do you think he could change his dogs names to Hogan and Clark?
  6. Yer - but what do you do, do you delist Clark and Dawes because they have had a rough period? Surprisingly Dawes did play 12 games last year (in patches though). What I mean is there is no way we should get rid of Dawes just because he has had an unlucky run with injuries. He will prove his worth in time - both on and off-field.
  7. "Saints or bust for disgruntled Giant Josh Bruce" http://www.afl.com.au/news/2013-10-24/saints-or-bust-for-bruce Yer but I doubt GWS would just let him go for nothing when Saints are offering a pick. I think they are just playing chicken - GWS are probably saying something like: "if you don't give us something better Melbourne will probably pick him up with PSD pick 2" Lets just hope they run out of time Even if that means Todd Viney has to do cartwheels in the AFL hub tomorrow to distract GWS and Saints. Nah but seriously is there anyone better in the PSD or would we go for him with pick 2? Guess we have to wait until the main draft is done.
  8. Agreed - it's just annoying but part of football and could have been someone worse. Why doesn't Nicho or Pedo ever get injured
  9. Do we really need another one of these threads.... Captain: Nathan Jones VC: Clark and Dawes (if they travel well through preseason) I don't know if I will last the whole off-season - too much theoretical talk for me.
  10. I wouldn't be against Neeld returning - if he is willing to be a water boy. (we could use a fit water boy) Nah but seriously I think that might unsettle the players so yer sorry Neeldy no spot for you here.
  11. There is a little thing called off-field leadership. Dawes is a born leader - I would rather have him on the list and him never play a game than a fully fit Nicho. Dawes, Clark, Viney, Jones - those are the kind of guys that are going to turn this club around - it all starts off-field.
  12. Lions - maybe but highly doubt it (depends on what's brewing within the club) Carlton - no way Crows - highly unlikely
  13. Lol - I was about to say you had left out Melbounre .......... but then I realised you must have just made an honest mistake and placed them in 8th place...... or is this 2016 ladder? I think this thread should be merged with the "optimism only thread" or an "optimism bordering on delusional thread". I would be stoked with Demonof96's ladder: 15. Melbourne - To even get to 15th would be a drastic improvement on last season. It will take some time to be beating down the door of the eight again 16. Bulldogs - Lack strength in key positions, McCartney doesn't seem like much of a coach either 17. GWS - Might win 3-4 games. Talented, no doubt, but they don't know how to win. 18. St Kilda - Total mess, will be down in the dregs for a few years you'd think. Watters first coach to fall next year
  14. Exactly that's why we desperately can't let them drop their heads round 1. I think a little momentum will go a very long way.
  15. I am wondering why we didn't get this guy - him and Watts seem pretty close
  16. I wouldn't mind the Bulldogs at Etihad provided its their home game. Considering the MCG is taken, playing at Etihad against the Bulldogs is probably the next best thing (I don't believe in hoodoos). Would have liked round 1 to be a home game at the G against a Victorian club so Roos could enter on the big stage but oh well. I think getting a winnable game first up is crucial for us. We can't come out round 1 and get belted or we risk losing the players momentum and belief. A competitive match - that's all I ask for and I think that's very possible against the Bulldogs. (We can test out our new midfield )
  17. No - I think your thinking of Blease and Scully. Oh our drafting strategies are becoming clear now
  18. Tapscott a steal - haha what went wrong? I think Roos needs to come in a give players exact positions/roles so they can focus all their effort toward that role. Tappy, Watts, Jetta, Pedersen are key examples. Roos needs to just say "look I think your best position would be playing a chappy role - foward flank with stints in the midfield. Now go away and focus on moulding yourself on his game - get your body right, work on your goal kicking, work on your agility etc.). I think Tappy current body is just not suited for the backline or to be a full time midfielder - lacks pace and agility. Give him a specific role, tell him what he needs to work on and leave the ball in his court.
  19. That women reminds me of a famous actor but I cant put my finger on it. Sandra Bullock?
  20. I struggle to find a role for Tappy - I think he might be a bit slow and lack agility for a defender. I don't think I could stand him always being 10m behind his man. The only possible future position for him in my eyes is if he models his game on paul chapmen. (Forward flank with stints in the midfield)
  21. Agreed we should look at a mid.Can pick up a ruckman or kp back or small forward with our 3rd pick, psd or rookie draft. Small forward or kp back (depth) I don't see as crucial. I am one of Strauss' biggest dreamers but he needs to be able to make use of his skills (needs to be given a chance though). I think the days of bringing in players for 1-2 game stints are over. Strauss has a great kick, speed and decision making - A perfect mould for a rebounding play maker.
  22. I think we only have 3 out of contract. Out of contract: Taggert, Nicho and Jetta. Would like to get rid of Nicho (time is up - he is not part of our future) Wouldn't mind lossing Jetta (could have a place as a small forward due to lack of opportunities though) Would hate to lose Taggert (has lots of potential but has been plagued by injury)
  23. If Garlett is still around come pick 40 we should think about that (I honestly don't think anyone knows where he will go) Small forwards can be found with late picks so no harm drafting a couple potential diamonds in the rough and cutting them if they are not showing much after 2 years. I haven't been following the rumour thread - any talk about Jed Lamb? (being from Sydney)
  24. That was part of the old regime and he is not solidly built.
