  1. Probably the best thing is we don't have to worry about his size.
  2. Who knows who will fall to pick 9. I guess it depends on what the teams above us need (we already know Boyd and McDonald to North). Don't forget how late Grundy went last year. I actually suggested we get a pick just inside the top ten for the very reason that highly rated players can drop a little in the draft.
  3. I don't think so. When I think of a small forward..well they have to be small, really quick, agile and clean. (they need to be able to dive out of the way when Clark Dawes and Hogan are all going for the same ball). Evans could rest up forward but I don't think he is suited to a small forward role. Still has a lot of potential I wouldn't worry just yet - lets see what Roos can do with him first. There is always a spot for a decent midfielder.
  4. Oh giddy I am so excited! Crouch with pick 9 then?
  5. Agreed - not to mention a fit and firing Clark, Dawes, Trengove and Grimes. An improved Viney and Toumpas. My faith in Melbourne is growing by the day. I did not have this feeling with Neeld.
  6. I see where he is coming from. I was sure that we needed to trade pick 2 but having looked at it realistically what are the chances of us getting a star for pick 2? If we cant - we should keep pick 2 (provided we can still bring in enough midfield players - both young potentials like Myers and seniors like Vince). Losing Dew also seemed like a chink in Roos and PJ's unbreakable armour.
  7. I guess that's what Sydney thought with Buddy. I hope we aren't paying him 10 million.
  8. I would like the opposite to happen - Nicho out and keep Jetta and Taggert. I think Jetta might be kept due to shortages of small forwards (really only Byrnes). I would say Taggert is definetly a keeper - has a big body and has shown potential but has been plagued by injuries (similar to Viv Michie). Just the kind of player Roos would like I think. I understand why you would keep Nicho but I don't see him as a long term project - will never make it in a good team.
  9. Now I am beginning to see why Sydney where so [censored] off with us when we chased Dew
  10. My apologies I saw $800,000 and forgot the 3 years. $266,000 is hardly special - as long as it makes us his preferred club.
  11. Dunn has become our 4th tall defender. Now that we have delisted Sellar and Davis - Dunn and Pedersen are our only back depth. If your happy with having just 4 tall defenders on our list and Pedersen as 4th tall then no problem. At this stage I would probably rather Dunn but things can change quickly. I think for pick 55 its not worth it unless we can get another Michie type with that pick.
  12. Sure - if he is prepared to get barked at by Clark, Dawes and Hogan. Personally I would not take that risk.
  13. I agree that pick 20 is a bit steep for a 3 year player and yet its still worth it given our situation. However the trade value should not be determined on how much we need him but his value as a player. I would like Melbourne to play hardball maybe make them throw in Lyons for another late pick or get pick 30 somehow and make a straight swap for Vince. I will understand if we trade pick 20 for him because he is what we need but I would rather we push Adelaide and make a trade equal to his true value.
  14. Never been so confident that one of our player will become a star. (never said that about anyone before - except maybe Hogan) Destined for big things and a steal at pick 26. Will be one of our main mids in 2014.
  15. Thank god - I was just beginning to worry!
  16. I was just joking around.... suggesting that he could have been one of the Bombers lab rats. Plus there is a lot of size/weight difference when you are talking 5cm - Watts doesn't look like this:
  17. No harm in trying to deal with a team. You are never forced to make the trade.
  18. Yep - definitely a pattern there. Myers is concerningly big.........
  19. That would be amazing although I am guessing Collingwood would complain. I really think those picks around ten are under rated - I could see some potentail stars falling to pick 10 (Crouch). Then we could trade the other pick for a decent young mid (Myers and Lyon?).
  20. Your talking about totally different objectives. We are getting Vince because we need some senior leadership in the middle who can perform immediately(unlike Rodan and Byrnes). Jones and Garlett are long term projects and they won't develop properly without some sort of leadership and team competitiveness.
  21. You make a good point. I guess it depends on what Roos thinks the difference between pick 2 and 9. (thats if we plan to use it as a pick). Pick 9 would obviously have significantly less value than pick 2 though if we were trading. It can't get in the way of us getting midfielders.
  22. It's a no from me. I think we have our back-line sorted for now and we can always touch it up later with a player but for now we need midfielders! We have three tall backs in Frawley, Garland and McDonald. Then Dunn as a back up/Watts. We then have several small/mid sized defenders in : Terlich, Clisby, Grimes (I think thats his position going forward) and Strauss (I am going to make a big call and say he will be one of Roos' best prodigies) and Tapscott. Unless Roos' thinks those two could become gun midfielders then no!
  23. The guys more flat footed than Trengove, has a beer belly and is at that funny kind of height where he is between a medium/tall and a kpp (plays smaller than he is). The only chance I see for him is him taking Dunn's spot as a 4th tall back-man. Can't see him becoming a forward or wing-man with Clark, Dawes, Hogan, Fitzy and Watts. Will need to get his body in shape if he wants any chance at all. Not to mention this.......
  24. It's a no from me as well. 25. I can't tell if he is being serious. I guess not. $800,000?
