I think the fact Jones and Dunn have taken their game to a new level is a win. Long way to go. -
SMALL MERCIES - POST MATCH DISCUSSION

Because the first weekend after the grand final there is something missing. Then you realises it's nice to have a break from it, after Xmas it's the tennis then you know it's coming. It's the most exciting game in the world with a contest at every part of the ground. It's for when Howe takes another specky. It's because we've been crap for so long that when we comeback it will be even sweeter. Roos boarded a sinking ship it will take longer than one pre season. -
Well it seems what the club is saying is different to what Dawes said yesterday. Why lie? Or is it as someone suggested a combination of problems.
-
Not knowing a lot about mental health/depression I would ask the question what's worse, the issue causing the problem or the inability to deal/treat it. Going off what Dawes was quoted in his interview yesterday "all of Mitch's problems stem from injury's/inability to train-play/feeling of letting your teammates down". Were the possible issues of relationship problems not mentioned out of respect? Because to a lot of people if that's all you have to worry about your not doing to badly at all. To me mental health issues/depression would stem from substance abuse/ homelessness/ problematic childhood/ people who have been abused/ living with domestic violence/ living with an illness of disability/ financial problems ect. But as we know everyone reacts/thinks/feels/is affected differently. For what seems like a non issue to some it is obviously tearing Mitch apart. You would think he has sought help with regards to this. Maybe the advise given to him was to return home to be close to friends and family. If what Dawes said is true and I'm assuming it is this has been a big eye opener for me. I look at people I know in different situations now and think are they doing ok, are they just putting on a brave face or do they not know any other way. At the end of the day we will never know the full story and we don't need to know, the bottom line is Mitch is parting ways with the club, we wish him all the best and plan our next move as a club. This issue has showed the need for mental health to be discussed and not seen as something to be embarrassed about because clearly it is bigger than most of us thought possible.

DEVIL OF A TIME - Match Preview and Team Selection
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
Keeping an eye on stats for supercoach purposes was interested to see some of the highest possession getters over the weekends games also led the way in tackles. Selwood, Mitchell, Ablett and Libba stood out. There is no excuse not to lay tackles. Also our tackles need to stick. -
Interest Factor in football these days almost dead

I get joy out of watching the highly overrated Carlton/Richmond sides get beaten. Both on track to miss the eight this year and if that does happen it can only be seen as unacceptable by their respective boards. -
If Hogans is going to turn out as good as Wayne Carey thinks he will I would be offering him more.
-
Compensation being in the form of the Dockers don't make a play for Hogan.
-
I will donate in coming days, I work away from home and have just returned to the bunker in time for Hawks v Freo. I'm grateful for this site.
-
Not at the game, working up the Hunter. Looking at the stats we have just three more tackles, not good enough.

Some bloody classics in there. They remind me "Ferris Buelers Day Off"Me Rooney- What's the score? Kitchen hand-Nothing, nothing Mr Rooney- Who's winning? Kitchen hand-(pauses).....the bears.

To much was read into the first game. Yes we should have done better but the year has just started. -

Tackles and knowing when to attack the ball as opposed to always waiting on the outside will define him. Has explosive speed to break away as well as elusiveness to step through traffic. He's getting there. -

Great point, a win would be nice but....Some people were calling for JKH to be dropped straight after our loss to the Saints. Are these the same people who complain about development? We can see the changes, Watts had some people(including myself) calling for him to sodd off last year, he has turned himself around in one pre-season. He has set the standard for himself, now it's time to build on that form and put together a similar performance against a more seasoned midfield. -
Jones has taken his game to a new level but I think one of his frees was Selwoodesque.
-
Kyle Cheney.

Well put, as for the Americanisation of the game....trading of players has nothing to do with the rules on the ground. Our game is and always will be the greatest. 360degree , no offside , continual contests make this the most exciting and unique game to watch.

Please state some reasons for not wanting to play for a club. Take out the away from home factor. Over recent years all clubs have upgraded training facility's, access to doctors/nutritionists/physios ect at the top of the game. The is professional across the board. And don't use the Dees as an example.

What part of national comp don't players understand? I'm all for clubs being able to trade players without their permission. To many take everything for granted.

Been thinking the same thing....for a while. Lyon has committed to Freo for a number of years and they're a fair chance this year. -
The kids go crazy for the stuff. An ordinary pen from a newsagent costs $2.50, that same pen but in a fluro design cost $8.00. All the kids see BB is the bright colours and then it's on, my job is to stand there, look interested as she stacks stuff on the counter then pay at the end.If only footy was this easy.

Old Dee I work on the railway. I was once told everyone is this industry has an alcohol problem, a drug problem or a criminal record. At times I think I might qualify for two of the three. My mates give me heaps all the time about the "guaranteed should we make it". I clocked up ten years in the Redlegs this year and plan on buying my daughter a membership when she finally decides on who she wants to follow. I keep giving her subtle hints by buying her a shirt from the demon shop each year but right now she has more important things on her mind like BLOODY SMIGGLE.
