I really hope Salem gets a crack off half back. Makes interesting reading with people putting their teams forward. Grimes missing in a few of them. I opted not for pick 2 or 3 in my line up but like what some have done with Brayshaw as the sub, giving him the odd full game mid year.

Dawes is out for round 1?? I can't remember. Who ever we draft we must remember they are only 18. If they dominate reserves then bring them in. We need to remain competitive. We need multiple scoring options from our forwards, would love to see Gartlett and JKH show what they can do at the feet of a genuine tall forward. We have lacked class of half back, Salem is young and only has a handful of games under his belt but has good disposal and shows poise, can't do any worse than Grimes. The Prince will provide his trademark run. Was really impressed with Frosts highlights.

Saints have pick 1, they are in a complete rebuild mode. They have to decide between two highly talented kids who just happen to play different positions. They are in need of both. As I mentioned before this in not a case of having picks 1 and 4 and hoping one of the players slides. If their decision is based on anything other than the research that their football department has done they should close their doors for good. Clubs have footy departments for a reason, all top kids have been tracked for years but all that goes out the window for a game of cat and mouse?Step 1 - indentify your needs. Step 2 - pick who best fills that need. Step 3 - don't listen to the crap being peddled by other clubs.

To me that doesn't make sense, if the Saints had pick 1 and say 4 or 5 it would. They could take Pectracca and hope Paddy is still there for their second pick. We would then talk up Paddy. The Saints decision shouldn't be affected in any way by us.

No I didn't see that game, what I have seen of him(4 games) has been less than impressive reminding me of some of our past hopefuls. One game doesn't make a career, I'm aware it was his first season but he came with wraps of being better than Omera. It's a wait and see for me.

Martin is yet to achieve anything or impose himself on any games. Still glad they picked him instead of Hogan.

I think too many people on here myself included have had a tendency to overrate our list.

Who are our three top shelf mids?

Saints want 2-3 top 20 picks over a 4-5 period. This can be achieved by bottoming out to obtain two of those picks then trading a good player to get the third. They have achieved that this year and last but are running out of players to trade. They will go through the same motions as us, continual bottom 4 finishes. How many of these kids will hang around to bear the fruit. Look at the Hawks model of today.

Little bit disappointed by this news, was hoping to have him around longer. Greatly appreciative for what he has done for our club.

But he can bloody defend alright, which is his main job.

I thought his disposal was reasonable. A key defenders job is primarily stopping the key forward/spoil/out mark. 2nd efforts are encouraged. He looked to take the game on when it permitted. I like the idea of Salem off H/B, was thinking that myself when looking at people's best 22 that were posted today. Not sure where Grimes fits in to the team, for mine Howe should be moved back forward.

With regards to "first option looks to handball" isn't that what they are meant to do? Find the back flankers or mids dropping back for supposed elite disposal.
