MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 16
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
The 22 named are what Roos/Goodwin consider to be the best 22 available. No more mass changes, the young players have to stick it out and learn what's required together. There's enough senior players out there. I would of liked to of seen either Newton/Michie given another chance. The whole Dawes/Howe thing has been done to death. -

Quality possessions? Or sideways/backwards short chip kicks? He's not known for elite disposal. Papers officially stamped. -

MATCH PREVIEW AND TEAM SELECTION - Round 16

I wouldn't use the word excited but I would like to see them given another opportunity. Grimes and Dawes have been given theirs for every reason other than their football ability. Things like leadership/play their role/ not developed properly/great public speakers are continually thrown up as to why they are getting a game or should get one. Howe is apparently playing to keep us his trade price, rival clubs know what they get with Howe whether he plays another game this year of not. I personally would like to see Melbourne do something different. Go in with a fwd line looking something like Garlett Watts JKH VB Hogan Newton Mix it up a bit, we couldn't do any worse. -

It says a lot doesn't it, but it says even more about those who don't make the team this week. -

If Grimes is to play should he start in defence? Is he to rotate through the midfield? -
Delistings/trades at end of the season
Bombay Airconditioning replied to Northern Summer's topic in Melbourne Demons
When I was referring to the environment I meant the club. Collingwood spend millions in their football department and have invested heavily in Cloke most recently hiring a sports psychologist. We've all seen the results. You can either kick or you can't. -

Exactly, the same day Roos has an article about "the next 8 weeks" we name a bloke who's about to retire, a bloke who's overpaid and can't get a game but is still contacted for next year and a bloke who may well be delisted in ten weeks.Wow. At least give Newton and Michie a couple of games in a row to prove themselves. -

Anyone else hoping Freo finally land that key fwd that has eluded them for so long. -

I don't think there's a top 4. If Hawks do a number on Sydney, I'm aware of their earlier encounter but the Hawks are awake now, Sydney are doing enough.Hawks Daylight Free Eagles (Still to play Swans/Hawks) Swans Daylight Collingwood (a straight kicking fwd from winning their last 3) Daylight The rest. Richmond at 5. Brisbane Lions would of beaten them last Friday night.

Who said anything about us as a club, it's every where you turn. Doctors, lawyers, bus drivers, construction workers, hairdressers the bloke the next door who has a 9-5 job could well be a dealer. Drugs are everywhere, the individual must choose. I'm not across the AFL drug policy but surely the revamped one will have(if not already) the right for clubs to test their own players. Couple that with basic knowledge, drugs like ice/speed/cocaine will generally last in your system 2-3 days. I'd be testing Friday and Monday mornings If I wanted to catch someone. The culture could be cleaned up easily. The AFL also needs to grow some balls. Clean slate and 1 strike and your out. -

Changes next week vs The Bears
Bombay Airconditioning replied to dazzledavey36's topic in Melbourne Demons
Is it any riskier than Dawes playing? Give Spenser a crack and I'd like to see Newton given a couple of games in a row. Outside run is great, so is moving the ball quickly by foot. -

Going on Clokes and Danihers ability to kick straight against us.... -
Over him. When he speaks he talks, pauses, talks, asks a question, pauses, goes on to say "can we, can we do that" before pausing again, then more talking. Occasionally he has something worth saying but like Dermie it gets lost in amongst all the other rot. I don't believe he has the knowledge of the game to hold the position he holds.

The Incredible Hulk - Jesse Hogan

Our boys owe me a little bit after the weekends loss. -
Agree but let's keep Tmac in defence and play Spenser up fwd until Frost is back. Play Watts out of the square and give him some space, anything, let's mix it up.

I will start by saying I didn't watch the game, worked 25 hours over sat/sun. However I didn't listen all be it interrupted through my phone to everybody's favourite call team Triple M. Many excuses have been thrown up in the post match discussion thread, and all were quickly dismissed as they should of been. I honestly thought we had turned the corner mentally after the win against Geelong. We had enough talent playing to win that game. Having said that as many have stated on here all year we are still 2 trade/draft periods away from having a really competive list, and sadly we are still mentally week. What part of turn up ready to play every week don't the players understand. Great sides can start slowly because of complacency, find themselves 2-3 goals down at qtr time to a lesser opponent only to get a rev up from the coach and go on to win by 80-100 points. The coaching staff are not blame. 3 weeks ago Roos was back to being the messiah, we can't have it both ways. Look at North against the Suns then North against Geelong, Sydney against the Hawks then Sydney against the Tigers, Freo's first 7-8 games and their last 4-5. The Bulldogs, Saints and Collingwood have all dropped games but have been ultra competitive in most of their games purely through their attack on the ball and tackling/defensive pressure. Only a bit of polish and in Collingwoods case a fwd that can kick straight has stopped those 3 clubs from winning a lot more. Are their teams that much more advanced then ours? Physically no but mentally yes. I don't buy into this crap that the Bombers came out fired up because of their loss the week before and in turn we will come out this week. If we are still relying on that we are in trouble. Haven't we learnt this lesson before. Richmond are officially a mess, how they beat Freo and Sydney is beyond me. Time to start betting against them and take back what they took from me earlier in the year.
