Watts is in the last year of his contract, he's reportedly on good $$ and despite his 20 games, his 2 droppings in 2015 were rather telling (dropping himself earlier & then getting dropped by the coaches in the last game of the year with comments made by the footy department along the lines of the kids played were giving us more). He's played over 100 games now, will be in his 3rd year under Roosy, and if he can't impact contests still next year he will be getting a gigantic paycut at best in 2017 along with Dawes, Grimes & a few others so we can go fishing....... in fact I reckon he'll get a paycut regardless, he's been over paid for years now.
-
That's the impression I got too, and I'd rather players who back themselves than those that are scared to. Good on him for putting himself out there to perform in 2016.
-
Ok, my guess is: Pick 3 - Parish (or I can live with Oliver should the club consider him the better option, seems it's got to be one of those 2 as Essendon look likely to take Francis & whichever mid we don't take at 3, they need players who can step in ASAP). Pick 7 - Weideman...... I don't want to 'reach' for a type, whether mid or tall at either pick, but I actually like the look of this guy & don't mind the look of McKay also. However if the club decided Milera or someone else is best here, again I'll back the current group given the last 2 years. I do think we need some more tall depth, however realistically, no matter which tall we take early or late in the draft, they will spent the majority of 2016 developing at Casey, which given the comments made by Mahoney about getting next year's 1st rounder in this year (a year earlier) I reckon we'll go tall here.

Keeping dreaming re Mills, Sydney traded/planned on the basis he'd get a top 3 bid. Why would they rather a bunch of lesser picks/talents? Cause they need depth rather than quality?!? Pffft

Plus they mis-managed Freeman's injury in the first place. "Here's a paycut because our medics made a mistake...." Geez I'd hate to be a footballer with all the scrutiny these days, people who have no idea make character assignations with half facts and just assume the rest. The media & Pies did a good job at covering that part of him being disgruntled with the club up. I think you should reserve these comments/sentiments for blokes like Scully & Boyd, both of whom have have a very cushy ride in the media despite the lack of value for $$ they provide their teams. Btw, very sad news re Scharenberg, even though he plays for scum, he was a ripper prospect from what I saw before he got drafted. I really thought he could've been the steal of his draft year if it weren't for his injuries.

They should also be fined for bringing the game into disrepute if the afl had any backbone.
-
We got fined more for 'not tanking'!!! Wtf? Another useless, toothless government agency.... Get rid of em all & we'd save billions. I bet $300k doesn't even cover the cost to the public for the 'investigation'!! Pathetic
-
Agree with your general sentiment, but I'm pretty sure Heeney & Mills would've been named in the top 3 mids from the last 2 years..... Here's hoping our boys develop better than the Swans kids!Btw, thanks WJ for all the Parish info.

Not a given any more, his dropping for the last game of the year was telling IMO. He is an automatic selection IF he wants it badly enough, if he doesn't then we now have enough players with a competitive edge about them that he will be dropped quick smart should he continue to struggle with consistency of effort. Pretty simple really & I do think it's a make or break year for him, not because he was a number one pick but because we are apparently paying him pretty well at the moment and that $$ could go to a big fish like Prestia next year or might be needed to extend the kids coming through. Another year like 2015, even with the 'flashes', he'll be up for a pay cut at the bare minimum. I do hope he can find another few gears/levels this year because we know there is still a huge amount of untapped potential in there, but I'm still concerned how he'd hold up in a big final though.....
-
We planned on upgrading our draft picks before the trade period despite only having pick 6 back then, so I think your premise is incorrect there..... If your trying to narrow down or do guesswork on who we will pick based on that its pretty flawed.

A couple? Not many really.....

Very different footy department than those who took cook, watts & molan oli. We have a development team now..... -
I'm with it so long as it refers to essenscum also.
-
Should fit in very nicely with Sam.

Bragger...... That is pretty awesome though! I wish -
Ssshhhhhhhhhhh!!!! Let him sign the extension first before he realises!
-
Those are wise words Barney..... Very very wise. Is it wrong that I actually hope this is a really horrible case so the 2 players & club suffer as much pain, humiliation & public backlash as possible?!?

Is Kennedy considered a bit of a tough guy? Cause Bugg certainly has mongrel & Mahoney said something about Melksham being an enforcer type (and he was a very good junior boxer), so maybe that's our theme this year if Kennedy is also along similar lines? Is that what Roos means by having 22 competitors?

WELCOME TO THE MELBOURNE FOOTBALL CLUB - BEN KENNEDY

Sweet, then we'll just pick him up for free as a delisted fa next year since he won't do much next year & can't get a game at the pies. -
So am I, but he chose the better city to live in IMO.
-
Could replace a few on the banner imo....
-
I like your thinking here, but I really want at least one of these blokes regardless & would be prepared to pay full admission if absolutely required. Obviously getting both or something extra in return would be even better though.
-
I really hope dtj & ash are on the $$ here, I'd be wrapt to trade pick 6 & Howe for Prestia or JOM.
-
Trying to distance himself from another members damning signature quotes of all his bs no doubt.
-
Especially coming from gws. He's likely to play in front of more people in round 1 for the pies then his whole career in Sydney's west!! Lol
