I just don't understand how we end up this hopeless and bereft of confidence every year at a point where we should really be up and about. We play the game like losers.
-
The way I look at it, we have 12 AFL standard players, and 5 of them aren't playing.
-
I didn't realise he was playing.

Is paul roos the only person In the world that thinks chipping the ball around the wings with no intention of ever kicking inside 50 is a good plan to win footy games?
-
Can't even kick a goal against GWS. Putting new players up forward and giving them just as little chance.
-
Howe isn't giving his all in my opinion. Brad Green, Brad Johnson, these guys played tall, and Howe is a much better mark than them. There's no reason why he can't be kicking 3-4 goals a week. Has he even kicked one this year?
-
Playing players in different positions. We ARE tanking then! That explains a lot.

Roos sounding like Neeld (The Age)?
Pipefitter replied to John Crow Batty's topic in Melbourne Demons
Roos had every right to be angry. I was. First time I've left early since 2005 elimination against geelong. I wouldn't have cared if this was an isolated performance, but this is the norm for us. I left because I've had enough watching these VFL quality players (at best) getting paid big bucks to fluff the most basic of skills. I feel exactly the same as Roos. Seriously get your S*** together. You were drafted as football players. Start acting accordingly. -
Roos- needs Plan B

Grimes is becoming Nick Maxwell like. This is not a compliment.

The continuing saga of Melbourne's injury list - 2014
Pipefitter replied to alpha33's topic in Melbourne Demons
Are there anymore Injury prone forwards we can recruit in the off season? John Butcher? -
So overrated.

That's when there's actually someone in the 50. How bout putting Fitzy in the goal square instead of the shortest player on our list. That's just poor positioning IMO.
-
I understand we have no forward line, but this game plan is not helping the few we have left. Is roosy just content to not kick any goals till we get some back?
-
This will be an 80 point loss i reckon, unless Roos employs the mega flood which i dont think he will do. He knows where we are at, and we aren't going to get anywhere in the future by throwing in the towel now and trying to reduce losing margins instead of getting into winning habits. I know that sounds a bit odd, losing by 10 goals plus will create wining habits, but what the club needs to do is ignore all outside opinion, stick to the plan and if we do, in time this will come together. The saints allowed us to chip the ball around as they were wanting to create the extra numbers back. West Coast will be on us at all times. We are gonna get a lesson in pressure, but thats the only we are gonna learn how to deal with it. I pencilled in St Kilda and GWS as wins before round 1. I think we may lose to GWS as well now. There will be some pain on the way i'm afraid but i think with such a great teacher in Roos it could turn around within the season, we won't need a 5 year neeld plan. The good news is we are getting the ball more often, but as someone mentioned before, the midfield group needs time to properly gel, they were high numbers, but the teamwork wasn't quite there yet. Go Dees!

OUT: Pederson, Byrnes, JKH IN: Gawn, Evans, Blease.

Has there been a press conference yet?

If we had even one of our forwards tonight we would have won. I don't think id feel much better about it though. What a terrible game.

Bombers scandal: charged, <redacted> and <infracted>
Pipefitter replied to Jonesbag's topic in Melbourne Demons
Did anyone notice the teeny blink and you'd miss article from Dean Baileys lawyer the other day. It said he was forced to take the punishment by the AFL even though the club had been cleared of tanking. Sound familiar Hirdy? Bailey copped it on the chin, and moved on. Never said a word. The Hirds could learn a bit from his humility. The thing that really staggers me about this situation is most bombers supporters blind faith in him, and how they were used as scapegoats etc etc. I wonder if they would have reacted like this if Matthew Knights was still the coach? He would have been marched out in a second. -
St. Kilda v Melbourne - Match Preview & Team Selection
Pipefitter replied to Demonland's topic in Melbourne Demons
This is surely Byrnes last game. He was finished as an AFL player last year. PS: Wheres the relax we've got this thread? -
Surveys always have ulterior motives, but i really want that footy haha.

The continuing saga of Melbourne's injury list - 2014
Pipefitter replied to alpha33's topic in Melbourne Demons
On a brighter note, how good is that our midfield group minus VIney have had an almost flawless preseason. Excellent news. -
If Dawes can be back by round 2 the loss of hogan first half of the year won't be such a big deal. If Dawes isn't playing VFL this weekend i'll be shattered. Seriously, one half of footy in an intra club all pre season. The guy is made out of paper mache.

Was the norm smith curse directed purely at our forwards? Schwartz, Jackovich, Jurrah now Clark. I don't think I've ever been prouder of a dees player than Clark in the Stynes tribute match where he nearly killed himself for that jumper that day, literally. It's a long way back now for Clark, rumours have been about for over 12 months that he wouldn't play again, and where there's smoke there is fire. It's an absolute tragedy. If anyone here has had a long term injury on here that has prevented you from working, playing sport, etc you know how fragile your mind can get in those times. Couple that with some family issues, and the pressure of being one of the highest paid players in the league and not being able to deliver... He must be having a shocking time at life at the moment. How good would it be to see the big fella in the 11 jumper run out on the G again this year? But as a demon supporter we are used to expecting the worst. Good luck Mitch. Let's hope there's a happy ending to this tale.
